The Impossible

Seth bows in front of Henrietta one more time as the guards begin to exit the room, “So, Henrietta why do you want my help after all this time, why not get Zion or Saito to help Airo?”
Henrietta walks down from her throne and walks over to Seth, “Because I don't believe that this would really suit them. She gives him a rolled up paper with a red ribbon holding it closed. “Seth before you open this, I'd like to say I'm sorry. My mother had taught me that sometimes the best way to heal is by yourself. I thought I'd be intruding if I'd have come to visit you. I loved Rain like a sister.”
Seth opens the paper, “Henrietta that is very kind of you to-” The paper falls to the floor and Seth closes his eyes tight, “Is this a joke, my Queen?”
“Seth I had Zion, Tabitha, and the best mages in all of Tristain handle these calculations.”
Airo walks over to Seth and picks up the paper and reads it out loud, “The portal that had been opened left a traceable magic. Using magical theory the portal should open up near the ruins of, Strine Village! In two days!” Airo looks at Seth who's face is beat red, “My Queen how could Zion figure this out?”
She sits back down at her throne, “Zion used his left eye to look around the area that the portal was opened, and he noticed that it left behind a colored magic residue most likely from the other world. Using Tabitha's dragon they flew all over Tristain until Zion spotted the same energy flow. The energy from the last portal is actually moving towards Strine Village. With the amount of energy left behind Zion calculated that the next portal would be complete within two days.” Seth starts walking towards Henrietta making her voice increase in both pitch and pace, “Seth it took some time to find you so the portal is going to open tomorrow. I know how you felt, I've lost the love of my life too and I couldn't just sit by and do nothing!” Seth looms over her and reaches down and takes her by the wrist and pulls her up. She looks at his eyes practically shimmering with tears, “Seth?”
With a quick motion Seth pulls her against his body and hugs her tight against him and buries his head in her hair. She can feel water from his eyes beginning to wet her hair, “I thought you abandoned me too.” Seth falls to his knees again and grabs her dress and holds it to his forehead, “My Queen, my friend, thank you.”
Henrietta kneels down in front of him and takes hold of his hands, “Seth, none of your friends have abandoned you, we just couldn't tell you what we were doing.” She helps him back to his feet, “I've also found some old friends of yours that I think would be an asset to you on this mission.”
Seth turns to the door and two men are standing by the wall. The first has spiked up hair and a yellow vest with a horizontally striped black and white shirt. The second is wearing a black tank top with a long red scar wrapped loosely around his neck just covering the bottom of his chin. On his back is a sword that is much too big for his body.
The man dressed like a bee gives a half wave at Seth, “Yo Seth, you didn't forget about me did ya?” Seth can't remember his name but the shirt is all he needed to see, “The name is Tayo, I can't believe you'd forget.”
Seth nods at him and then looks at the other man, “Griffen, I thought you died.”
“Eh yo, how can you remember this guys name!?”
“Tayo I haven't seen or heard anything about you for close to a decade.”
Tayo scratches his forehead, “I've been down south in Romalia, learning stuff.”
Seth smirks and looks at Griffen, “And where have you been Griffen.”
“I've been recovering and learning to overcome Griffen, my name is Cole. Griffen is asleep right now.”
“Asleep.”
Cole nods back at his sword, “When I use the sword Griffen wakes up, I'm not much of a fighter but I made a deal with Griffen that he'd still get to use my body when we have to fight.”
Seth looks over at Airo, “You coming too?”
Airo smiles, “Of course how could I just stay here after finding out about this stuff.”
“Alright then, let's go.”

The trip takes less than a whole day and nothing is happening in the village so The group splits up to look for anything suspicious. Instead of looking for anything in particular Seth walks up a certain hill. At the top of the hill is a small wooden cross sitting under a tree.
“Hi mom.” Seth turns around and looks out over what is now nothing but remains and plant life, “I never thought I'd come back here after watching it burn. Me and Rain had once thought that we might come back here to rebuild everything and make a new village.”
As the sun begins to set Seth starts walking back to the village. As it becomes darker something begins to grow more and more visible. Just as the sun disappears completely below the horizon. A bright red portal rips open the very fabric of this dimension. Seth quickly runs towards it but the closer he gets the brighter it gets until Seth can't see anything at all. The light shoots high into the air and a sound like nails on a chalkboard screams into the night.
As the light fades a teenage boy is kneeling on the ground his left arm is covered with armor that is affixed to him with a belt running diagonally across his upper body and connecting to the shoulder of the armor. His brown hair is hanging just past his nose and he looks like he has been fighting something as his pants and shirt are torn. The boy stands up straight and cracks his neck and looks around at the ruins of the Strine Village.
“Father!”
“Son?”
The young teen turns around and looks at Seth, “Who are you?”
“I am Seth, who are you?”
The teen rubs his shoulder and stretched his arm, “My name is William.”
Seth looks at the boys green eyes, “You haven't met or heard of a kid named Stephan.”
“No can't say that I have. I haven't met anyone else in my life except my father.”
“You haven't met, anyone else in your entire life besides your dad?”
“Yes, there were no other humans where I'm from.”
“Where is your father?”
“I don't know, he is really old, maybe he didn't make it through.”
Seth turns around and starts to walk towards Airo, “SETH BEHIND YOU!”
William is already high in the air and coming down with a curved blade above his head. Seth quickly rolls out of the way of the blade and flips back to his feet. Airo charges at the boy but a strong wind lifts Airo off his feet.
“You can't hit me if you can get any closer.”
Cole charges at William and draws the Excamasa and his eyes suddenly become darker and he swings the sword horizontally. William jumps up and lands on top of the blade and kicks Griffen in the face. Just as the boy lands a bolt of lightning strikes him in the side and he falls to the ground. As he slips into unconsciousness the wind around Airo dissipates and he drops back to his feet.
“Seth what should we do with him?”
Seth undoes the belt around his chest and yanks off the armor around his arm and tosses his sword off into the ruins, “I guess we should take him to the castle for questioning. He says he doesn't know about my son, but I think he is lying.”
Tayo takes Seth's shoulder, “You are doing this for the right reason?”
“Tayo this is about my son.” Seth picks up William and starts walking back to the castle with the rest of the group following behind him.
