SSJ: And we're all converging at Barad Dur... And on with the show!

---- Chapter 58: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back ----

Things were looking grim. A black cloud of despair spread across the land. It blocked out
the light of hope that everyone wished would have come. Shinobu, Kitsune, and Hayden at
Hinata Sou felt the grim truth. The Hokuten in the middle of Mordor looked up at the sky.
David Jarrett, from his hospital bed, suddenly felt cold. Elphitine in the Village of
Heretics sank to the ground. The Hokage and all the ninjas felt a great weight befall the
world. All of the people they have met and come into contact with... They all knew that the
Outlaws failed to stop Rantmon from achieving his impossible dream. They had been too slow.

SSJ leaned there in the wall, fatigued as he stared at the ground. The news Sauron gave
hardly even affected him. He had lost all his energy and vigor, and sat there like a
vegetable. Reality suddenly flowed into him. He was small and insignificant. Momo struggled
to crawl to the distraught boy. She forced her legs and arms to make her crawl to SSJ. She
moved against Sauron's will, reaching SSJ and making it her turn to comfort him. "Come on,
SSJ," she whispered. Tears started to pour from her eyes.

Sauron smiled. "Feel lucky, boy," he said. "You both will die together." He then raised his
flail. Momo turned and looked up at Sauron, clutching SSJ tighter to her. She closed her
eyes and waited for Sauron to swing the flail.

Suddenly, there came a powerful slam. Smoke rose into the air. A body skidded and scraped
along the ground. Momo looked up, having felt no pain. She looked up and saw TM there,
surprising the wits out of her. "TM!" she yelled.

TM looked back at Momo and SSJ. "What's wrong with SSJ?!" TM asked, looking at the terrible
state of his friend.

Momo looked down at the stone floor and cast a sad glance at SSJ. "He... Sauron... SSJ
just..." She sighed, trying to calm herself. She finally answered, "He was no match for
Sauron." TM gritted his teeth.

"Shit," TM swore. SSJ was in extremely bad condition. It was the worst he's been in since
he came to Terra. He wouldn't even move or respond to anything. TM then heard a shuffling
behind him, and there was Sauron, standing up and facing TM.

"Tch," Sauron began. "Fool. Don't you know what just befell upon the world?"

TM replied, "Not really, but I don't care!" TM tensed his muscles. He screamed and
attempted to pull out his red aura. He screamed on, muscles tense. Nothing. He suddenly
stopped. He couldn't pull out his massive aura. "What... Happened?!" he said, realizing how
weak he was now.

"Rantmon has captured the final God," Sauron explained with a smile. All mana flow into
this world has stopped. You're left alone and naked against me." TM glared at Sauron, not
losing faith.

TM dropped into his battoujutsu stance. "I won't let Rantmon get away with this! Nor will I
let you go free for what you did to my friend!"

Sauron replied, "You, too. Your friend is just realizing the truth to the world. Friendship
will not solve anything. Everything relies on the self. You must love only yourself and
fight for your sake alone. That is strength, without inhibitions."

"Shut up!" TM screamed. He blinked, and his aqua eyes once more disappeared into the
Sharingan. "I don't care about what crap you spew. Let's go!" He dropped into his
battoujutsu stance, ready to fight Sauron.

And slowly, from the distance, they all heard a sound. Horses had come and stopped at the
foot of the Dark Tower. Footsteps then echoed through the area. TM and Sauron paused and
turned towards the stairway, and out from the shadows appeared Davis, panting and fatigued
from his long run. The rest of the Fellowship appeared as well. They noticed TM, and then
Sauron, fully prepared to fight. "Stop this now, TM!" Gandalf yelled.

"That's right," Aragorn added. "Only one thing can cut through the Dark Lord, and that is
the Narsil!" Aragorn then showed his sword, to which Sauron stepped back.

"Well, reinforcements," muttered Sauron. "This might get a little complicated..."

Sauron sprinted to the higher ground. He needed a greater advantage, and he knew just where
to get it. He sprinted up the stairs and left the group. Aragorn and Gandalf dashed ahead
and yelled back, "The rest of you, stay back!"

The two scrambled after Sauron. They left Legolas and Gimli standing there with their
weapons drawn, disappointed. The Hobbits looked at one another, not wanting to be smashed
in the least bit by the flail. TM and Davis glanced back at SSJ, sitting there with Momo,
who was looking with pity upon him. TM then paused for a bit. He, too, dashed up the stairs
to the other's protests.

"Damn that guy!" Davis yelled as he stayed back to look over the rest.

'I hope they'll be fine,' thought Momo. SSJ refused to move.

There came more footsteps Momo turned to the stairway from which everyone had appeared.
There came a flow of blonde and black hair. Kensou ran in, Amiko hanging upon him, and
stopped there to see Momo stooping over the beaten SSJ. "What happened?!" Kensou asked.

Momo's eyes averted to the ground again. "Sauron defeated him," Momo managed to say with a
great struggle. Kensou looked down upon SSJ and felt a chill run down his spine. Things
were turning bad quickly. He hoped nothing more would happen.

He then looked around the room. "Where's Sauron?" he asked. Momo turned to the stairway
leading up. Kensou followed her gaze. He turned to the sleeping Amiko and set her down by
SSJ. "Look after them," he told her as he dashed away.

"Hey!" Momo yelled as Kensou disappeared past the stairs. "Wait!" But he didn't come back.
She turned back to Amiko, who was in much better condition than SSJ, apparently. She saw
SSJ slightly roll his eyes towards Amiko. He said nothing, but returned his weak gaze to
the floor. The rest of the Fellowship could not say anything to them.

***

Sauron stood atop the Dark Tower, as a huge drop waited all around. Indeed, he definitely
had the high ground there. One knock would send a person tumbling out. Sauron saw the two
spires that once held his eye. Oh how terrible the old days were, when he had to look at
the world with only his Eye.

A stairway wrapped around the tower from a balcony below, which Aragorn and Gandalf
followed and met Sauron. Aragorn stood before him and said, "Sauron, your darkness ends
here."

"Haha!" Sauron laughed. What a pathetic human hope! Sauron replied, "Even if my darkness
ends, the world will still be covered in a black cloud. Rantmon can't be stopped now! He
has the power of all mana!"

Sauron then raised his flail and swung it at the two. It smashed into the ground before the
two, who had leapt away. Aragorn and Gandalf dashed to the forefront, aiming blows at
Sauron with their weapons. Sauron swung his flail again, which the two barely ducked and
avoided.

The flail smashed into a spire, sending cracks through it and tearing it clean off. It fell
from the tower and crashed into the dirt far below. Gandalf's staff glowed brightly as the
wizard reached Sauron. He struck Sauron with his staff, sending the Dark Lord skidding back.

Sauron suddenly coughed in pain. He was hit by the Narsil, straight to the gut. Aragorn
thought it was over, until Sauron changed into a wood block after a puff of smoke.
Replacement?! Aragorn was taken by surprise. Where the Heck did Sauron go?!

He suddenly saw a shadow on him. He looked up, and there was the second spire about to fall
upon him. He froze in fear. Sauron was there atop the spire about to slam into the King.
And then, the spire tore to pieces. Sauron was thrown away and landed away from the two
members of the Fellowship. As rubble rained upon the area, they all saw the newcomers, TM,
with his sword surrounded by the storm, and Kensou, blacked blades exposed.

"Lord Sauron!" another voice suddenly called. Sauron turned and saw the Witchking there. "I
have brought the artifact!" And he presented the Spatula to Sauron. TM, Aragorn, and
Gandalf froze in fear. The Witchking outstretched his arm and Sauron reached for the
Spatula...

Suddenly, the Witchking's arm tore away, and there was Kensou who had passed between the
two, four blades gleaming in the dim light. Sauron clenched his teeth and caught the
Spatula anyway, and he raised the flail and swung it at Kensou. Kensou was nimble enough to
barely dodge the flail, and he flipped past and landed by the screaming Witchking. He
stabbed the final Nazgul with the black blades.

The Witchking screamed, and finally, he too turned to ashes. Sauron leapt back, suddenly
remembering who the random man was. The one who cut off Phage's arm. Sauron swung his
flail. Not at Sauron, but at the ground underneath him! A giant chunk of the tower tore
away as the flail slammed into it. Kensou leapt off and landed with TM, Aragorn, and
Gandalf. It was four-on-one, and they still couldn't beat Sauron!

And a crack filled the air. Sauron leaned over and barely dodged a bullet. There was Cindy
upon the steps, guns aimed straight at Sauron. More reinforcements. Sauron smiled, no
matter. "Damn kids," Sauron muttered.

Cindy looked at the fighters already present, and then turned to Sauron. She saw the
Spatula gleaming in his hand. "Damn it," she muttered. "I guess I was too late."

"Right," said Sauron. Sauron then raised the Spatula. "But you know, I don't need this now,
anyhow. Rantmon has already won."

"I know the story," Cindy cut in. "And you know what?" She cocked her gun at Sauron. "I
don't care." She pulled the trigger, and Sauron dodged another bullet.

"It's too easy. I can still read all your minds and still have energy to dodge." He proved
his point and swung his flail about. Aragorn had almost reached Sauron when he was knocked
away by the flail. The bones in his left arm shattered upon impact, and he screamed in
pain. He skidded along the roof, and was caught by Gandalf. It was near impossible to
defeat Sauron.

Cindy knew what she had to do. She opened up the chamber of her gun and loaded in another
bullet.

Sauron muttered, "So that's how you defeated Knives and Cell... Unlike those two, I won't
be affected by it." He raised the grip of his flail, and suddenly TM's sword hit it. TM
struggled to push into Sauron. TM wanted to tear through Sauron, or at the very least knock
him off the tower. Sauron made it difficult, not even moving back as he shoved back on TM.

TM yelled, "Do it, Cindy!"

Cindy froze. TM was straight in her line of fire. "TM!" Cindy screamed back. "I can't shoot
when you're in the way!"

"JUST DO IT!" TM commanded.

"I can't!"

"Can't you read between the lines?!"

Cindy's gaze averted to the ground, and she paused. She then looked up with determination
and aimed her gun at the two. "TM!" she yelled. "Your sacrifice won't be in vain!" And she
pulled the trigger. An explosion tore from the barrel of her gun. She was thrown back,
feeling pain in her arms from the impact. The bullet with the storm of energy speeding
around it cut through the air, flying straight at TM's back.

"They wouldn't!" Sauron yelled. But they would. The bullet tore straight through TM. TM
coughed in pain, and suddenly split into smoke. Kage Bunshin?! The bullet hit Sauron
straight to the chest. It dented his armor, sending much pain through Sauron's nerves. The
storm of energy then followed. Sauron barely crossed his arms in time to block.

He was hit by the immense amount of energy. He yelled in pain from all the immense energy
striking his body. He barely could look up and see Cindy flying off the roof. He could
barely crack a smile. At least that would make up for his pain- her falling to her doom.
Unlike Cindy, Sauron didn't skid back. His powers were far too great.

But then, as he was still being assaulted by the immense amount of energy that tore upon
Barad Dur, he saw a hand was gripping the edge of the tower's rooftop. He saw another hand
grip upon it. Cindy pulled herself over the edge, and TM followed. The kid had saved
themselves from death. They were persistent little snots!

Sauron then let out a scream. The two looked upon Sauron, who took the last of the energy
full blast. The armor on Sauron's chest, along with his helmet, shattered. The pieces fell
to the roof with distinct clangs. Cindy and TM were surprised to see the Rood Inverse
carved into the Dark Lord's chest. "Annoying little fools," Sauron muttered.

"No way..." Cindy couldn't believe it. The bullet that could do so much damage... Sauron
took all of it! His power really was that immense!

"You can't win. Not against me, not against Rantmon. I have the power to instill another
Dark Age alone!" He raised his hand to show the Spatula. He then saw the impossible. The
Spatula had melted. The same went for the One Ring. "What?!" he muttered with surprise. Was
the power of the bullet equal to the forge of Mount Doom?! But the metal... They had cooled
down and wrapped around his fingers and hands. He couldn't open his fingers. His hands were
stuck.

Cindy and TM noticed. It was their chance to defeat Sauron. They were about to run at
Sauron, but then Gandalf and Kensou were in the air, aiming attacks at Sauron. "Even with
this, what good can you-" He suddenly was cut off. Quite literally.

His head flew through the air, and there was Aragorn, Narsil bloody from doing such a dirty
work. TM and Cindy gasped as the head slammed into the roof and rolled past them. It rolled
towards the brink, and TM stopped it with his foot. Sauron was still in a glare. He never
knew what hit him. TM looked at Cindy, and the two edged away from the disgusting severed
head. It was over. The last Ender was finished.

Sauron's body crumpled to the ground. The seal on his body smoked and the carving of the
seal disappeared to their surprise. Aragorn and Gandalf panted at what just happened. They
killed the Dark Lord. Just like that. They sighed and fell to the floor, exhausted.
"Though, this should be one of our lesser worries," muttered Gandalf.

"Indeed," Aragorn returned. Yes, they would have a ways to go still- Rantmon awaited them.

Suddenly, a booming voice called through the land, "Greetings, Terra!" Everyone immediately
froze. It was Rantmon. Cindy and TM's faces twisted into glares, and they sprinted down the
steps and headed to where the rest of the Fellowship. Aragorn and Gandalf spoke of burning
the body of Sauron; Kensou stepped to the two and stuck his black blade into Sauron's back.
The body turned to ashes and blew away in the wind. The three nodded and headed down
towards the room.

***

Rantmon's voice boomed, still, clearly and without echoes, "You have felt it, haven't you?
Magic has stopped. Mana has stopped. I am here to inform you all, that as of ten minutes
ago, I defeated all six Gods. I have them all locked in my palace now." The people in Barad
Dur swore. The victory sure didn't feel like it.

Davis looked up at the steps and saw TM and Cindy step down, looking up at the sky. Davis
began to ask, "Is Sauron..." TM and Cindy nodded. Davis then sighed with relief.

Amiko then stirred. The three turned to her as she slowly opened her eyes and awoke to the
sound of Rantmon's voice, "The power of the Gods is immense when put together..." Amiko
looked around at the room. She saw a scratched and slightly injured TM, Cindy, and Davis.
She saw Aragorn and Gandalf, and to her relief, Kensou appear from the steps leading up.
She saw the Hobbits, and Gimli... And Aragorn. She nearly glomped him from her surprise
happiness.

And then she turned to her right, and suddenly her energy completely faded. SSJ just sat
there, leaning on the wall. His head hung low and his eyes lacked energy... He was in good
health- thanks to Yuna -but he still seemed to be hurt the most. She began, "SSJ..."

SSJ didn't stir. Rantmon's voice then continued, "Since all the Gods are under my control,
time is fleeting for you, Terra. I am slowly taking their energy for myself, and even now I
am growing more powerful. So it is my conviction to give you a chance before I blast all
life from this world."

Amiko's mouth dropped open. That... That was Rantmon's intention?! To use all the energy
gained from the gods to destroy life?! She looked at the rest of the people there, who
looked up at the ceiling in fear. Rantmon continued, "The end is nearing- I now declare war
upon all of Terra."

"No way," muttered Davis.

"The war will be fought on my floating island. My palace is now heading Rift, and until I
stop there, I invite anyone and everyone to come and try to stop me. When my palace stops
over the Rift, Terra loses. Once I get there, I will completely obliterate the planet." No
one could feel happy for killing Sauron, then. Rantmon still had a great advantage- the Six
Gods sealed within his palace.

"Oh, and one more thing," Rantmon's voice called after a pause. "It'd be helpful for you to
fight me as a group separate from others. You wouldn't get in each other's way, and all,
okay? It'll be more interesting for me to fight everyone at their best... Not that it'll
help. So, remember: Doom's Day is in approximately ten days." And that was that of
Rantmon's voice.

Everyone was filled with a sense of dread. Amiko stood up and turned to the rest. "This is
it," she began. "This is what we were called to take care of."

"Yeah," Davis said. "Frank and Syria asked us to do this. Their hopes are in us... We can't
let them down- we must beat Rantmon." Everyone nodded.

Amiko and Cindy turned to the Fellowship. They bowed to them. "Please, we need all the
strength we can spare." The men of the Fellowship nodded. Amiko caught Legolas, Gimli,
Frodo, and Merry; Cindy caught Aragorn, Gandalf, Sam, and Pippin. The five that were left
turned to SSJ and Momo.

Momo got to her feet, SSJ's arm slung over her shoulder. SSJ shut his eyes and twitched in
fury. He violently pulled away from Momo. Stepping away with an extremely narrow glare.
"SSJ...?" Momo asked, tears filling her eyes.

SSJ didn't look back. He just muttered, "Let's go. Rantmon's waiting." He went on his own
down the steps. The Crew looked from one to another, horribly depressed at SSJ's change in
attitude. Still, they followed the very angry and very anguished boy down from the tower
and towards the looming giants- the Red Mountains.

They found the River of Hope again, with Mordor behind them. It didn't brighten their day
as their boat appeared in a flash of red light, and they climbed on and sailed away. The
scenery rolled by quickly. The river was faster than usual. It shoved them on, leaving
Mordor far behind. Barad Dur soon was a speck, and the Red Mountains seemed to speed at
them with a terrifying speed. All this happened as SSJ sat aloof at the end of the boat;
Momo sat across him, but felt very uncomfortable. The rest of the Crew couldn't help but
feel the same. Bad things were coming, they knew. The events were leading to the Rift,
where Rantmon will begin Doom's Day.

Indeed, the River carried them quickly. The foot of the Red Mountains was seen far ahead.
They were surprised at the speed at which the mountain range approached. The rocky crags
soon met the sides of the river. They entered a valley that carved through the Mountains
because of the River.

Something was heard in the distance. Kensou and the rest strained their ears to hear it
clearly. Water hitting water. Another waterfall! Amiko and Cindy definitely didn't want to
fall off another one, especially seeing as how serious the situation already was. They used
the oars and shoved the boat off the river onto the banks, seeing the waterfall up a good
distance ahead. The path ended there as well.

There on the bank, the Crew searched for a path through the Mountain. "There!" TM said as
he pointed to a hole in the wall just at where the path cut off. TM stuck his foot out and
landed upon the rocky river bank. He went over to what seemed to be a tunnel just at the
brink of a cliff. He looked over and saw a tremendously deep drop down below. Much deeper
than the Fall of the Rauros.

He turned to the others, who were stepping off the boat. Momo was the one now who leaned on
the stones, and SSJ followed, still glaring at the ground. With that, Heero came from
Amiko's bishie ball and picked up the boat. The bishounen didn't fight then. It was much
too serious for that. He nodded at Amiko and then disappeared with the boat into her bishie
ball.

"We have to go through the mountains," TM explained as they stepped to him. They saw the
wide valley down below. They said nothing to each other and then stepped into the mountains.

SSJ was the last to go, following them all. His thoughts were a mess then, stepping more as
an automated action than of his own will. He had lost his answer. He had lost what his
hope. He was a puny figure now amongst them all. Sauron's voice rang clear in his memory,
"Love yourself. Fight only for yourself. Only then can you be strong..."

'That is the central truth... That is reality.' SSJ looked at the people before him.
Kensou, leading the way through the mountain. Amiko, following Kensou, practically hanging
off of him. SSJ's glare narrowed even more. Cindy followed, looking around the tunnel as if
there was anything of interest. Davis followed, as well as TM- they seemed quite optimistic
despite Rantmon's declaration. He saw Momo, who turned back to him with sad eyes. He didn't
change his glare. 'So that's it... Love only yourself. Fight only for your sake. Only then
can you be truly strong...'
