---- Recap ----

[Chibi characters of the five appear in the foreground as scenes from the last episode play
in the background. Though, you can't see 'cause this is text. Haha!]

Amiko: Last time on GINGA GIRI GIRI! Kensou masters the succession technique!

Kensou: Yes, and TM masters the Ama Kake... Damn, that name is too long!

(Everyone sweatdrops.)

TM: ...Anyway, after that, Amiko suffers the 'Fall of the Sky'.

Cindy: All while Davis and I are met by Jarrett yet again... Then by a dragon.

Davis: Well, we could be screwed now! On with the show!

---- Chapter 63: Dreams and Nightmares ----

Century City shook and rumbled as bellows moved swiftly through the air. Davis and Cindy
couldn't help but duck as Crosis' tail tore apart the roofs of the buildings all around.
It bellowed again as Davis and Cindy dodged its tail, dashing towards it.

Crosis wasn't one to allow anyone to get close to its greatness. Its claws slashed along
the concrete towards the two Outlaws. Crosis' voice still boomed throughout their minds,
"You think that you can defeat me?!" SMACK! Davis and Cindy flew into another building with
a strike from its wings. "I am not called the Purger for nothing! I have the powers of a
god!"

It raised its head towards the sky, and from its mouth, darkness seemed to pour out. It
opened its mouth and threw a wave of black flames towards the building. Davis did what he
could, holding his palms out and forming a meteor between the two and the flames. The
flames struck, setting the building ablaze as it split from the meteor.

The meteor cracked and crumbled, and Crosis saw that Cindy and Davis were no longer there.
It outstretched its wings, and swung it seemingly randomly at the air. It hit Mokona, who
Cindy and Davis had been hanging on. They tumbled back towards the broken roof with a
painful thud. Cindy and Davis sighed and looked up at Crosis. They then saw Mokona, knocked
out from the attack.

"There will be no escape, either," said Crosis. "Even if I can't see you, my sense of smell
is better than my sight!"

Davis gritted his teeth and got to his feet. Cindy did so, as well, looking up at the
gigantic monster. 'Damn it,' thought Cindy. 'I can't help...' The two were knocked away by
the back of Crosis' hand, flying in two separate directions into two different buildings.
Cindy crashed into a pillar and slid down in pain. 'Everyone has power... TM has the Blood
Sin... Kensou has those cool nidachi...'

Crosis flapped its wings and threw a wave of air straight at Cindy. She blocked as the air
tore apart the rest of the building above her. The roof, walls, and all crumbled and
tumbled towards the ground far below, leaving Cindy in the open air, rubble all around.
'Amiko has magic... Davis has the gloves... SSJ has his author powers...'

Crosis floated above her, black flames spilling from its closed mouth. Smoke came from its
nose as it raised its head.

Suddenly, it stopped and looked at the sky. The sky in the area had turned black. Cindy
looked as well and saw bats come from the sky. There within the other building, Davis
yelled, "Diablos!" A black ball formed in the sky, from which came the demonic figure of
Diablos. "DARK MESSENGER!" yelled Davis as Diablos grabbed the ball. It flung it at Crosis.

"Huh! A black hole?!" Crosis muttered. Davis looked up at Crosis, who simply swung its
tail. The tail ripped through the black hole, and the ball of gravity tore apart. Davis'
mouth couldn't help but drop open. "Gravity doesn't affect me!" yelled Crosis. It sped
towards Davis.

"DAVIS!" screamed Cindy as the dragon sped towards her friend. Davis couldn't do anything.
Cindy couldn't do anything. She stood there as Davis fell to his knees, panting with
fatigue. Crosis sped onward. Cindy shut her eyes tightly and screamed, "DAVIS!"

Crosis suddenly felt something. It swung itself around, luckily missing Davis. It turned
back towards Cindy, where a yellow light was coming from. Her aura had come forth. "What?!"
Crosis yelled in surprise. "She... Even as the Gods are sealed..."

Cindy opened her eyes and looked at her hands, where her yellow aura came flooding out She
got an idea for an attack. She raised her guns at the surprised Crosis. "Thunder Bullets!"
she yelled as she pulled the triggers.

A blast of energy came from both of her revolvers. Two bullets, flowing with her yellow
aura, sped towards the dragon at lightning speed. It gasped as the two bullets hit, denting
its scales ever so slightly. It looked upon the little damage the bullets did.
'Impossible!' it thought. 'Her attack as that powerful?!'

It then felt another aura. It looked behind, and there was Davis, his gray aura clear. It
felt cold and uninviting. It was an empty aura, with no feeling behind it. 'This aura?!'
thought Crosis. He then saw the meteors around Davis.

"You..." Crosis flew up into the air to escape. The meteors sped at the dragon, which
dodged and struck and escaped from the attacks, only for Cindy's thunder bullets to strike
its scales again. Those bastards were persistent! Crosis landed upon a building far away
from the two. "How can this be?! The Gods are sealed... This can't be your own power!"

"It is," a voice suddenly said from behind it. Crosis suddenly felt a pain in its wings. It
looked. An arrow had torn through the wings. It saw smoke come from the two spots where his
opponents had been. And there upon the broken roof with the spilling water tank, there
landed three figures: Cindy, Davis, and Amiko.

There was Amiko, blue and furry in her Nightcrawler form. She looked up at Crosis. "Is that
all?" she asked. Davis took to heating up the water then, causing Amiko to return to normal.

Crosis bellowed and sped off towards the three. Amiko put her hands together and formed a
seal, and she yelled, "Razorwind Barrier!" Crosis suddenly came to a stop as a tornado
seemed to come from Amiko and surround the three. Through the wind, it saw Amiko's aura,
blanketing the area with green.

"Strong kids!" it yelled.

Suddenly, Crosis felt more pain during its lapse in concentration. This time, the pain was
on its shoulder, which was covered with scales. Blood came from its shoulder as it saw a
figure land upon the broken roof, steam rising from it due to Davis' power. Kensou had
landed upon the roof. "That can't be!" yelled Crosis. "Dragon scales are stronger than any
metal on the planet-"

"Except celesium," Kensou cut off. Crosis felt weak. It landed upon a roof some distance
away. Kensou looked up at the dragon, not surprised at seeing one of the supposedly extinct
species. Stranger things had happened, after all.

'Impossible,' the dragon said to itself. 'There is simply no way he could've gotten a
weapon of celesium... But this cut...'

"MAN! YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION!" yelled another voice, making the rest of the Crew
sweatdrop. Crosis looked up in the sky, and there was TM, his red aura seeming to send the
area into flames. Crosis was again taken aback when he yelled, "ZERO SLASH!"

TM swung his sword at Crosis, who barely had enough sense to dodge the technique as it tore
the building it was on to pieces. Crosis landed away as TM ended up rounding off the Crew.
There they were, five strong, with powers beyond his expectations. 'The Purger is having
trouble? How pathetic...' Crosis then remembered Rith's orders. It turned to the Five and
yelled, "Surprise was on your side, today! Next time, I won't be so forgiving!"

With that, Crosis flapped its wings with pain. It looked at the arrow still caught in its
wing, and pulled it out using his tail. It threw it back towards the Crew, where it landed
just by Kensou's foot. Crosis bellowed and flew off into the sky, leaving the Crew standing
there.

The razor barrier around Amiko, Cindy, and Davis disappeared. The Five sighed and fell upon
the roof of the building. Man, after all that collateral damage, the dragon just wouldn't
be finished! They looked around, seeing the destruction all around. They sighed, thinking
of what would happen if someone saw them there...

Someone did. They heard it. There was a sound of a hovering machine somewhere... They
looked up, and there was a large, armored air vessel landing upon the building right by
them. They got to their feet and stared at the armored ship. A door opened, swinging
upwards slowly. The person inside stepped out.

The Five gasped. It was Kino Tsumuji.

***

"That was an impressive show," muttered Kino from inside his ship. There he sat in the seat
beside the pilot's, chair twisted back to face the Crew, sitting upon benches to the sides
of the ship. He looked at them all. "What happened to that leader of yours?"

The Five exchanged glances. Amiko replied, "He's in the Red Mountains."

Kino was taken aback. "He was lost in there?"

Cindy spoke this time, "No, he stayed behind to search for someone. You fought with him
back in Osseke... Yami, now called 'Dark'."

Kino looked up at the ceiling of the ship. "Oh, him," Kino muttered. "The one with the
lance, right?" The five nodded. "Hm. I knew there was something familiar about that guy..."
He faced the Crew again. "I won't pry into your lives much. I don't care about why you are
here, how you all got here, or whatever. I'm not like Mishima."

Kensou suddenly shook at the sound of his father being mentioned. Amiko turned to him,
sitting beside her, the furthest from Kino. He refused to look up, but just kept his eyes
on the ground. Kino looked at him, and was suddenly surprised. "Kensou Mishima is here,
huh?" Kino muttered. The Five suddenly felt scared then. "This is a surprise..." Kino then
saw Kensou shaking, and the others were white with fear. "Oh, calm down. I've got nothing
against Kensou."

"LIKE HELL YOU DO!" Kensou suddenly screamed, getting to his feet. Everyone nearly fell
back. "WHAT ABOUT THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS BEFORE AND AFTER MY FATHER DIED?!"

'Huh?!' thought Kino. He tried to speak, "Calm down-"

"WHAT ABOUT THE CONSTANT SPYING? WHAT ABOUT THE-"

"SHUT UP," Kino finally coldly said. Kensou suddenly quieted down, seeing Kino's
seriousness. Kensou shook and fell back to his seat. Amiko patted his shoulder, but he
pulled away. Kino began again, "Calm down, damn it. I have done none of those."

Kensou then interrupted, "Yeah? Then how did I get this?!" Kensou pulled off the glove from
his right hand, and everyone saw a scar on his hand. It was on the back of his hand, as
well as the palm... Something had impaled his hand?! "I got this from Kurosawa Eiji! Your
advisor!"

Kino was again surprised. 'What?! Kurosawa?!' Kino was pulled into deep thought. That
couldn't have happened. Kurosawa was loyal to him. He was his trusted advisor! Kurosawa
certainly wouldn't soil his name... Then he thought, 'Actually, he would... When I came,
that forced his demotion since I was so much greater than him. I was more intelligent than
him, and stronger as well... He had a reason to hate me after he was forced to live a
low-classed life.' Finally, Kino broke the silence that had crawled over the ship, "I
see... He must have been tempted."

Kensou looked at Kino with surprise. Like he could buy that! "Tempted?! By who?!" he spat
back.

Kino just calmly returned, "The man known as 'Daedalus'." Kensou was taken aback. No matter
what president, the Daedalus had been there for fifty years! He was on the Council when his
grandfather was president! He had something against Kino? Kino continued, "Daedalus has
defected from the government. He stole the Advanced Terran Aerial Fleet- every single ship.
He disappeared with the bodies of the Nishiten. He is the only one who could have driven
Eiji to try and kill you."

Kino looked at Kensou, who fell to his seat. Tears welled in his eyes. "Then there's one
more question... Why? Why did you kill my father?!" Amiko looked upon Kensou, growing
sadder by the minute as Kensou broke down.

Kino just replied, "I guess I should say it, then. I needed the money to fund my own
project."

Kensou suddenly froze. His eyes widened, tears falling to the floor. He gritted his teeth
and shook. "That's it? That's it?! THAT'S IT?! ALL FOR YOUR STUPID PROJ-"

"SHUT UP." Kensou suddenly lost his voice. Kino glared at Kensou with his bright green
eyes. They seemed colder than they had ever been then. "You don't understand anything. You
only see one side of the picture. The project is very important to me. Don't think that
you're the only one who has suffered. This project is all I can do to rectify the mistakes
of your father, who you look up to so much."

"Mis... Mistake?!" Amiko repeated, seeing Kensou shake. "What the Hell do you mean by
that?!" She didn't want to see Kensou suffer anymore.

Kensou and Kino looked into each other's souls. Kensou's visions of his father, as well as
all of his old memories, were shattered when Kino said, "Ex-president, Mishima the Fourth,
your father, spread the Plague across the world. He did this in order to have a monopoly on
the antidote and make billions on its consumption."

Kensou was frozen in place. He grabbed his heart, suddenly in pain. "YOU'RE LYING!" he
screamed as he fell to the ground. Kensou remembered his father. "My father had always been
caring. He had always been kind. He cared for the people of Terra... HE WOULD HAVE NEVER
DONE THAT!"

"He did. And with that, he took away my only love. So get up. You aren't the only one who
has lost an important person." The rest of the Crew felt their breath falter, listening to
the chilling conversation. It scared them more than Rantmon, seeing Kensou suffer as Kino
sat there, calm and collected.

Kino just continued, "I've lost Yuki. We were supposed to have been married by now. It was
your father's greed that killed her, and it cost me many things. The proof I have for my
suffering is my schizophrenia." Kensou suddenly opened his eyes. No one ever mentioned that
part of Kino. No camera had ever documented that. Even Kino never mentioned it. "Yes, ever
since she died, I have had two faces: this calm one, and another one, which can do nothing
but hate. That one drove me to kill your father."

Kensou calmed himself down. He looked within Kino's eyes. He saw, within the glare of Kino,
a wish for retribution. Kensou just stared at the ground. Kino finally said, "I have
suffered thanks to her death... But her sister suffered more than I." Kensou looked up at
Kino, whose gaze fell to the ground. "Her sister... Momoko Yamatani..."

Rewind four days, back to when the Crew just left SSJ and Momo within the Red Mountains.
Back in the dank, dark, and unpleasant place, where Momo could hardly relax, there they
were, wandering through the mountains. Momo followed SSJ, who had said nothing since they
left the Crew. He looked through the tunnel, searching for any clues through the winding
maze.

SSJ stepped on, Momo followed. Things were looking bad, for they began to get hungry. And
no food was to be found anywhere. What's worse, upon looking through the area, SSJ realized
one thing: they had lost the path. The darkness had consumed his senses and he had lost his
sense of direction, especially as an increasing number paths and crossroads appeared.

"Shit," SSJ swore and suddenly broke the silence. Momo was taken by surprise as she looked
at SSJ, shaking.

"SSJ?" she asked. SSJ just said nothing as he just sat down and leaned by a wall. Momo
looked down upon him and sat beside him. They were silent for a bit, panting with fatigue.
Momo felt like she couldn't go on. Silence bore down upon them again. She finally said, "It
must be tough..." She trailed off, but SSJ didn't look up. She repeated, "It must be tough
trying to act so cold all the time, right?"

SSJ twitched. He looked up from the dirt and straight at her. "What makes you say that?" he
finally said to her, the first time since he left the Crew. There they were, near the edge
of the mountains, yet very far from an exit to the tunnels. SSJ looked at her, still cold
and unemotional.

"Did Sauron do this? He made you this way, right? His words have changed you?"

SSJ didn't respond. But from the looks, Momo knew she had hit her mark. SSJ just muttered,
"Kasumi, come out." In a flash of red light, out came Kasumi with a bentou box. She gladly
gave it to SSJ, who took it with little gratitude. Kasumi disappeared in a red flash as SSJ
just coldly opened the box before a hungry Momo. She looked at the delicious looking food
inside. SSJ took up a chopstick, picked up some rice and placed it in his mouth. She
thought about how cruel he was.

That is, until SSJ handed over the rest of the box. He didn't make eye contact, but just
offered the box to her with one hand. Momo smiled. SSJ hadn't changed at all. She took the
box, clapped her hands together, and said, "Itadakimasu!" As she took up new chopsticks and
began to eat what was left, she said, "It really is hard trying to hide yourself, huh?"

SSJ didn't reply, but she knew that SSJ had heard her words. She felt a wave of happiness
amidst the darkness. She took up the box and ate what was left there, as SSJ thought in the
darkness. 'Damn it,' he thought, 'I compromised myself again. She just doesn't leave me
alone, does she?' He looked at her from the corner of his eye. 'I'm too nice to a cute
girl.'

The nightmare had passed. The darkness had only been temporary. SSJ just stared at the
wall, replaying Rantmon's threats in his head. He recalled further back; Sauron's words had
still impacted him. He couldn't defeat the Ender. All of his words were useless. All of his
ideals had lost. Could he really find an answer?

He then thought, 'I guess the only reason I left them was not to find Dark, but to find
myself... But, Dark is my other half, so I guess it wouldn't be bad to meet Dark. I do need
to tell him...'

Momo finished the box and said, "Gochisousama deshita!"[1] With that, SSJ got upon his feet
again and again took to the tunnel. Momo placed the box upon the floor and followed SSJ.
With the problem of being lost, littering wasn't something on their minds. They were lost
inside the mountains. SSJ was lost within his mind. But slowly, ever slowly, they were
returning to where they needed to be. The Dark Cloud that covered the world was retreating
from them. And in four days' time, it would retreat from the rest of the Crew. The
nightmare had passed. All that were left were the dreams of a better tomorrow.

this is text. Haha!]

SSJ: Next time! On GINGA GIRI GIRI!

(SSJ stood smug and confident, proud of returning to his proper spot.)

Momo: Well... Uh... SSJ and I go on into the Mountains, and soon enough run into Dark.

(SSJ gives Momo the thumbs up, reassuring her of her first time performance.)

SSJ: Anyway, it'll be a fighting chapter between Dark and I, with me seeking out my answer.

Momo: Who will win? Dark or SSJ?

SSJ: Of course I will in!

Momo: Uh... Okay. Next time on Ginga GIRI GIRI, "Darkness and Light"

Author's Note:

[1] "Gochisousama deshita!" - Literally translates to "It was a feast!". It is an
expression used after one finishes a meal in Japan.
