Amiko: Last time! On GINGA GIRI GIRI!

Kensou: The important battles finally begin, with Lee and Paul going first.

TM: They lose, and up comes Anya and Risika.

Davis: Anya turns out to be the only one able to put up a decent fight with Rantmon.

Cindy: Still, she loses. So now, on with the show!

---- Chapter 69: The Battle with Rantmon - Part 2 : The Storm of the Century ----

Rantmon was in the worst condition he had even been. That wasn't saying much, since he
wasn't even close to being defeated. The wounds he had suffered from Anya's tenacity had
healed over thanks to the gray, throbbing organism flowing through his veins. There he
stood, with the gray matter covering his skin wherever a wound was. He looked straight at
Cindy and Davis, though it was hard to tell with the circlet covering his eyes.

They faced each other, the climax of the battles finally coming. This is what the world had
waited and relied upon: the Outlaws to come and defeat Rantmon. There were two of them
standing before Rantmon, ready to battle. Davis released his cloak and threw it away, the
armor covering his upper back shining in the light.

Cindy stood there, reloading her gun and aiming it at Rantmon. She couldn't help but shake
before the battle, seeing how the last fights ended. She had a great reason for her
feelings, since the author never bothered to develop her much. (She shook her fist at the
sky and muttered, "Damn you!") But now that her time had come, she would show what she
could do.

Davis clenched a fist and glared at Rantmon. He began, "I'm back, Rantmon."

Rantmon didn't show any signs of emotion. He just asked, "Why did you leave? You would have
been the best assistant I ever had if you had been loyal."

"Tch." Davis showed the back of his hand, with the shining jewel of the Dark Trinity gloves
looking at Rantmon like an eye. "I figured out that you had changed. You changed from the
friend I knew to a hateful demon, so it's clear that I would have left to try and figure
out what had happened. I returned to my world just before Siria called my friends. The real
Rantmon never got to tell me what had happened until recently."

Rantmon smiled. "So you have met him."

"Yeah."

This conversation puzzled everyone around, indeed. Nothing made sense in this world at all,
and these kids seemed like they knew everything. The people of the crowd wondered,
gossiped, and spoke about what had happened in the world. Cindy grew tired of this. She
called over a reporter and was about to tell when she heard Amiko yell, "Cindy!"

Cindy looked over and saw Amiko quickly shaking her head. "We agreed, remember?" called
Amiko. "This knowledge is too much of a burden." Cindy said nothing in reply. She just
sighed and shoved the reporter back to her safe spot in the crowd.

Cindy and Davis glared at Rantmon. They got into their battle stances- Davis in his Jeet
Kun Do stance with his right hand leading, Cindy with her gun drawn and ready to fire. The
jewels on Davis' gloves began to glow with its black light. Cindy's guns clicked as she
finished preparing them. Rantmon gripped his blade tight and held it up, aiming its point
at the two. They all paused. A silence spread among the room.

In an instant, their auras exploded. Cindy's golden aura met with Davis' black, flaming
aura, and the two auras clashed with Rantmon's cursed aura.

Cindy squeezed the trigger of her revolvers. Two bullets raced towards Rantmon after a
gigantic boom. Around each was a ball of energy, throwing sparks everywhere. Rantmon
blocked with his blade, slicing through both bullets with great accuracy.

"Firebolt!" screamed Davis as Rantmon was still swinging the second time. The jewels of his
glove shone darker than ever as a large bolt of flames came from Davis' hand and raced
towards Rantmon. Rantmon spun back and dodged the bolt. Then he felt two large impacts on
his back.

He looked back and saw Cindy launching two more Thunder Bullets straight at him. Rantmon
leapt into the air to dodge the two quick projectiles. Then he saw many more projectiles
above him, made from the sand around his palace. "What?!" he uttered with surprise.

Davis screamed from the ground, "Desert Rain!" They were balls of sand, packed tightly
above Rantmon. They fell and aimed at Rantmon. He couldn't let them hit. Rantmon twisted in
midair, swinging his blade around and striking each attack with precision. There he swung,
another he kicked, and in the end he parried all the blows. Except one.

One hit Rantmon hard on his right hand. In surprise, his grip faltered. He was slightly
stunned. That was just enough time for Cindy to get right beside him and aim the barrel of
her revolver right at his cheek. She fired.

A gigantic explosion tore through the area. Cindy flew back, and soon she was caught by
Davis. They skidded back as the bullet struck Rantmon at point-blank range, the storm
hitting his face at full-blast. The two saw Rantmon take the blast, the swirl of energy
burning the skin of his face, arm, and torso. He flew back in pain and crashed into the
wall.

With a tremendous boom, the wall tore apart from the impact. Rantmon rolled over and came
to a stop on his feet, just at the edge of his island. Davis and Cindy were dumbfounded.
Rantmon still stood, after taking the impact! And from the wound on his cheek, the gray
ooze came out, now forming the darkened blotch on his face.

Cindy was shaking again, fearful for their chances. Their enemies always grew ever
stronger. Knives was able to deflect her bullet, Sauron took the bullet head on, and
Rantmon just now was hardly even hurt! Not even the circlet on his head had any cracks!

"Get back, Cindy!" yelled Davis as his fiery black aura came forth. The jewels of the Dark
Trinity gloves shone again as he screamed, "Come out! Bahamut!"

Davis' aura swirled around him and Cindy, standing in the middle of the Rood. It stretched
upward, through the Rood above holding the sealed gods, and it tore out of the stone
ceiling and broke through the clouds. Rantmon saw it from outside his palace. Something was
coming from the clouds.

It raced down, down towards his castle, and in one swift motion it tore off the roof of the
palace and let the light spill into the room. It landed upon the highest tower of the
palace- Bahamut, King of the Dragons- the immortal dragon. Rantmon looked up at the
gigantic beast, unimpressed in the least bit. He turned to Davis as he stepped through the
hole in his wall, "What will this do?"

Bahamut answered that by whipping its tail around and smashing through the wall Rantmon
just stepped through, sending it crashing into the sea far below. As the ripples ran along
the water's surface, Rantmon still was unimpressed. "Foolish," he muttered. Then, he
whistled.

Everyone stopped and looked at the sky. At six different points, the clouds had parted and
revealed a small speck in them. They raced down just like Bahamut had done and landed on
six different towers of Rantmon's palace. The Hybrid Dragons had arrived.

***

The people down below screamed in terror from the new beasts that had emerged. They even
more fearful as the dragons began to speak. A white one, an angelic dragon to say the
least, spoke, "Oh, ho, ho! If it isn't our good friend, Bahamut." It stretched out its
wings, rich with beautiful scales that shone like feathers. Its scales were pure white,
without a blemish on any part. It was a beautiful dragon, if not for the wanting to aide
Rantmon thing.

A familiar one, Rith, the blue and brown dragon that the Crew was most familiar with,
added, "We meet again, Bahamut!"

Bahamut looked at each one, all of them having a sort of smile (though the humans below
couldn't tell). Bahamut began to speak much in the same way the others had spoken, through
a sort of thought-speak. "You all... You all have joined Rantmon, I see."

"What more can you expect!" yelled Volt, whose horns and scales were jagged and sharp like
a barb of lightning. Its wings were the largest out of all the dragons, and its form was
the thinnest. After all, it was the fastest of all the dragons. "We are on the same rhythm
as he, the one who has freed us!"

Another dragon, blue and with terrifying features, made itself clear by stretching out its
wings. Bahamut turned towards it. Dromar, the Banisher. "Bahamut, you can not interfere.
The world deserves its punishment."

Bahamut looked around at its foes. Crosis, the Purger, was in full agreement with Dromar,
of course. Beside Crosis was the white one, who agreed as well. "You can't be for the
purging of humans, Treva!" yelled Bahamut. "Is it not your job to save life?"

"I never had such a job!" Treva spat back. "My purpose is to renew the world, the world
that has been poisoned by humans for thousands of years! What better way to renew than to
destroy and wipe this planet clean?"

Still, there was one more, the most feared out of them all. Darigaaz, the Igniter. It was
the most twisted out of all the dragons. Its form alone evoked fear in the other dragons,
from its twisted horns that cut through metal and muscles that bulged almost out of the
skin. Its head was the perfect manifestation of all the hatred it produced, horns jutting
out and twisting about. Its eyes burned like a hellfire, and its tail swung around with its
hair on end. Yes, it was the only dragon ever to have hair- the trait of a mammal. It was
freakish in design, and freakish in personality.

Darigaaz spoke, "Yes, Bahamut! All things must dissolve into chaos, so why give humans the
benefit of time? A few extra millennia won't change the fate of humans, so why not destroy
now and spare them the illusion of 'hope'." It uttered a chilling laugh then that made the
other dragons seem to shiver.

Bahamut just muttered, "Damn you all to Hell." It sprang from its place on the palace. The
six other dragons did the same. Bahamut raced through the air, attacking the other dragons
in an aerial fight. They launched beams of energy, flames, ice, and whatever at each other.
Such was the amazing fight that took place.

***

But it wasn't as if nothing was happening down at Ground Zero. In the center of the Rood,
there stood Davis and Cindy, dumbfounded by the six dragons upon arrival. "Damn it," Davis
swore. "Bahamut will have some trouble."

"Indeed," Rantmon replied. Davis looked back and glared at Rantmon. Rantmon returned with a
smile. "You mustn't rely on such outside help to win. They are the judges, not only of this
fight, but of humanity. If humanity fails to defend themselves on their own, they will aide
in the destruction."

Davis sarcastically replied, "Unbiased judges, aren't they?"

"I never did say they were judging me." Rantmon raised his blade. Davis dashed straight
ahead. Rantmon slashed, Davis leapt over and behind Rantmon. Rantmon turned around and felt
bullets hit the base of his skull, right where it met with the neck. Such as an extremely
vulnerable spot, and Rantmon was caught off guard. Davis took advantage by covering his
fists in a blue flame.

Davis knocked Rantmon up in the air with an uppercut. He gave Rantmon a powerful flaming
punch straight to his stained cheek. He kneed Rantmon in the gut. He head butted Rantmon.
And finally, he was above Rantmon and clasped his hands together. He slammed his closed
fists down on Rantmon's back and screamed, "Firestorm Combo!"

Rantmon fell down and hit the stone ground with a painful smash. Davis landed on his feet
and leapt back to stand beside Cindy. They high-fived in unison; they're teamwork had been
perfect!

But Rantmon still got to his feet. The two weren't much surprised; they were just fatigued
from the seemingly endless fighting. And with Davis' strength being drained by keeping
Bahamut out... Cindy had to do something. She let her golden aura burst forth, and it
blanketed the small area around her. She thought of an attack name, noticing the clouds
above her. She smiled. Using her aura, she launched a couple of bullets high into the sky,
surprising everyone and Rantmon.

They all looked up and slowly realized her plan. The clouds quickly gathered around the
area, blackening the sky around the island. The clouds rubbed against one another. A spark
was formed between clouds. Finally, Cindy yelled a name to describe her attack, "Raining
Thunder!"

CRACK! A gigantic bolt of thunder sped down towards Rantmon. Rantmon barely moved out and
dodged, barely burnt by the wake of the giant thunderbolt. The ground had cracked where it
had hit.

CRACK! Rantmon again dodged another direction, only to hear another crack. This continued
on and on, thunder constantly falling from the black clouds towards Rantmon. Rantmon turned
towards Cindy. He saw Davis beside her, the black light darkly coming from his gloves.

"Hellfire!" screamed Davis as he swung his arms in the direction of Rantmon. From his
gloves came a wave of red, black, and brown, razing right at Rantmon.

"Wind Slash?!" Amiko muttered in surprise at the seemingly familiar attack. But no, it
wasn't like SSJ's attack at all. The waves twisted around, and Rantmon was careful to
dodge. He leapt up and over one, then with great agility twisted in midair under the other.
He smiled at Davis, only to realize that the attack wasn't so simple. The first one twisted
around him. He became surrounded by the two waves.

And suddenly, the waves combusted into flames hotter than the sun. It was hot, alright. It
was just as hot as the flames of Hell. It twisted around Rantmon, and they all heard his
screams of pain. It was immense pain Rantmon was finally feeling. The flames of hell, the
element of the Dark Trinity, weakened. It slowly dissipated and split like a swirl of
cherry blossoms, leaving Rantmon standing there.

Rantmon stood in the center of a black circle in the stone, charred and overall not well...
His hair was singed, though in good condition. That alone made all wonder how strong his
body was. Indeed, when his hair was nearly untouched, what does that say about the body?
The smoke cleared and Rantmon slowly got to his feet, his skin blackened at points, and the
gray infection spreading across the body in order to keep it healthy.

Rantmon glared at Davis. "You asshole," said Rantmon. Suddenly, Davis fell onto his knees
with fatigue. He could feel it. Bahamut couldn't defeat the six dragons. In fact, Bahamut
could barely even escape to get close enough for Davis to dismiss him. Davis could hardly
move then. All of his energy had been used in that Hellfire, which did its purpose.
Finally, he fainted, the last bit of his energy having been consumed in releasing Bahamut.

Click! Everyone saw Cindy had closed the barrel of her revolver. Cindy had loaded up the
last bullet that Hayden had given. This was their last chance. She aimed it at the still
blackened Rantmon. He couldn't react to her squeezing the trigger. Another tremendous boom.
Cindy flew back, striking the stone wall with a great impact, and she too was knocked out
from the pain.

The bullet raced straight for Rantmon, storm surrounding it. "Tch!" Rantmon uttered as he
swung his blade. It sliced through the bullet, and the two halves raced past him. The storm
of energy swirled past him on opposite sides, just like the halves of the bullet.

Rantmon glared at his opponents, who had taken a lot out of him. There they lay,
unconscious. He stepped towards them, knowing what he had to do. Only one of them needed to
live for his true plan, and he definitely would not let the stronger one live. He stepped
towards Davis, and everyone was too frozen in place to react.

Except one. Rantmon barely ducked as the blade of a tachi [1] slashed over him. He turned
and saw Kino Tsumuji standing above him, blade ready for action. "Get up," commanded Kino.
"I won't let you kill them."

Rantmon turned and already saw Yanagi and Garnet healing Davis and Cindy, who had been
dragged back to the crew. Rantmon swore and got up to face Kino. "You shouldn't have come,
President," said Rantmon. "Surely, you'll die and lose that power you worked hard to get!"

"You misjudge me," said Kino. "I never gave a shit about power." He quickly jabbed forward.
Rantmon blocked with his blade.

Rantmon then noticed the dark metal. "Oh, lots of people have celesium now adays," he
muttered. "Not only that, but you move it around rather easily." Rantmon shoved Kino back,
and the president flew back, crashing into the wall by the throne. He coughed in pain as he
got to his feet.

Kino rubbed his head in pain. He glared back at Rantmon and muttered, "Well, you need all
the skill and resources you can get if you want to fight something higher than a God..."
With that, Kino ducked down and posed with his tachi. Everyone froze as they saw Kino
crouching low, blade aimed upward, and muscles tense. "I will make sure that these kids
succeed. If that means for me to die, so be it!"

Kino sprang forward. His speed, however, was much less than desirable. Nothing on the level
of Tsukimoto Anya. Rantmon stood there, watching Kino move at his pathetic rate. Kino
thrusted his blade forward in one smooth motion from afar. Then Rantmon realized something.
He ducked just in time for the tip of the blade to slice his shoulder. From that angle, he
didn't see that the blade was longer than a normal one. He had forgotten that one detail in
his smugness.

Kino was fast, twisting his blade and slashing at Rantmon's ankles. Rantmon leapt up and
dodged, placing one foot down on the flat end of the tachi. Kino was trapped! Rantmon then
raised his blade to attack. "Now!" Kino suddenly yelled. Rantmon was taken aback.

Then, something shot out of the crowd and swung around his arm. He couldn't move! He looked
and saw two tall figures standing at the very back of the crowd of fighters, past the
double doors into the hall. The Gemini project. Kino quickly pulled out his dagger from his
shirt, drawing it quickly and slashing Rantmon's ankles.

Rantmon yelled in pain and pulled his legs back, allowing Kino to free his tachi and stab
Rantmon back in the leg. 'Damn that human!' thought Rantmon as he gave a hard tug to the
metal wire. There was a sound of scraping. People screamed and shoved out of the way to
make a path for the Gemini, dragged into the Rood by Rantmon's incredible strength.

Rantmon fell to his knees, feeling a burning sensation in his wounded leg. He swore to
himself, 'Shit, that guy just happened to have a weapon made of my weakness...' Rantmon
then rolled out of the way as he saw lasers shooting out of the Gemini's eyes.

Rantmon came to a stop and faced Kino and his android. "Damn it," muttered Kino. "He's
tough."

The eyes of the Gemini blinked and flashed. "I must reiterate," came a crackling,
electronic voice from it, "We only have a .0000000000000000000001% chance of success."

"If we work together, what are the chances?" asked Kino, keeping an eye on Rantmon.

"Based on his reaction to your blade and from the previous battles, 1%."

"I like those odds," Kino said with a smile. With that, every plate of armor on the Gemini
opened, surprising everyone in the room. Rantmon particularly noticed the missiles in the
holes, enough to destroy an army.

Rantmon could only mutter, "Holy crap," before smoke filled the room from the missiles
firing in unison. Out from the smoke bursted missiles upon missiles, aimed and targeted
upon Rantmon. Rantmon dodged one as it flew out of the open wall, then he leapt over
another, and then he ducked under Kino, who had aimed for a clean cut on the neck.

And there still were more missiles racing at him. He dodged one only to have Kino deflect
it back towards him with the tip of his tachi. Rantmon saw it, aimed straight at his back.
"No fucking way!" BOOM! He flew through the air and skidded along the floor, crashing into
his throne. The barrage of missiles twisted around, trained on Rantmon's stunned place on
the ground. They all hit him with great accuracy.

Explosions tore about the area, utterly destroying the throne and anything around it. When
the smoke cleared, all that was left was a pile of rubble sitting where the throne had
been. It was then that Kino noticed the passageways into the lower sanctum of Rantmon's
palace. "That's where it was hidden, huh?" muttered Kino.

And then, the rocks shifted. Kino figured it would have done so. Rantmon wasn't so weak to
perish against missiles. Indeed, the pile of rubble rose and fell, and in its place stood
Rantmon, pissed as a dragon from Kino's assault. He didn't expect such a challenge from a
normal human, even after such an assault from previous opponents. He had the power of the
Six Gods! How can a human and a robot do so much damage?!

"I've got to hand it to you," said Rantmon. "You must be a genius to develop a machine able
to be so strong. However..." The winds began to change. From his being, there came his
tainted aura. He just muttered, "Time to stop kidding around now. Even if you're a regular
human, I have to say you're incredible."

The black aura was fast, speeding at Kino with an incredible speed. The Gemini sped in its
path, standing between the aura and Kino. The aura passed right through it, without even a
thought. Kino thought that fact was rather strange. 'Clearly, that's stronger, so why...'
He thought about it just as the aura pressed around him. He felt the pressure Paul had
felt, but without the armor Paul had. He felt the full force, capable of crushing his
fingers and bones without a thought.

He then realized an answer. It was an aura, so it only attacked other auras! He then yelled
as loudly as he could, hoping the sound would escape the souls clutching at him. "GEMINI!
SPLIT, NOW! YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN!" And then, there came a sick sound from his shoulder being
dislocated.

The eyes on the Gemini flashed. It obeyed, moving the plates of armor around its core.
Rantmon stood, there, wondering what was happening. Then he realized it. Gemini. The
meaning behind its name! He saw it, two robots came from one, and they sped at him with all
the speed of the flaming rockets on their backs.

They launched lasers at Rantmon in unison. Rantmon dodged up, unable to keep concentration
on Kino. Kino knew it. He felt the pressure weakening just as his left forearm snapped from
the pressure. It was weakening. If this persisted, Rantmon would have to release the aura.

Kino looked all around, seeing the souls all about him. They were all unfamiliar and cold.
There was not one inviting face, they were all cold and disturbing. He then had a thought:
they were souls, so they must understand him. He tried his idea, "Hey, you all..." He
gasped. Ones of his right foot's toes were crushed. "Ugh... You all seem to have plenty of
hate." He then felt a pressure on his skull. They were trying to crush his skull. He had to
persist.

"You all must be tired of this," he continued, thinking of how it would feel to be stuck in
someone's aura. He felt the pressure lessening. He had hit the nail on the head. "You all
seem pretty tired, being cooped up in his body and unable to escape or speak." He felt it.
The pressure was weakening. The souls moved around him, looking amongst one another.

"Yeah," he continued. "I don't know how it feels to die, only to be stuck in someone else's
body, but I have only one request: when those other kids come, don't be this cruel to them.
They are the very people trying to save you." The souls no longer pressed down on him. He
felt thankful for that. Still, the pain finally caught up with him as he struggled to move.
Anything he did moved a crushed bone or disrupted a dislocated joint.

The pain overcame him. He just muttered, "Please," before he passed out and fell sprawled
on the floor. The wall of souls split and the blackness left around Kino. Rantmon's aura
returned to him. He was panting after a hard battle. All about him were plates of metal,
screws, bolts, wires, and anything else that came from the Gemini.

The Gemini were then in pieces, torn apart from Rantmon's strength. They had provided as
much of a challenge as Anya did. He muttered, "That guy... How did he do it?!" He coughed
and stepped towards Kino.

He saw Garnet, Rinoa, and Yanagi carrying Kino off quickly. He just sighed and thought,
'Bah, I'll let them have their hopes for now.'

***

The three bishoujo held Kino up as they took him to TM and set out to healing him. Rinoa
was setting bones back in place and relocating his dislocated shoulders as Yanagi set out
to heal whatever wounds were on him. Still, they were just too severe. A normal person
should not have even survived that aura!

Yanagi yelled, "His body is breaking down too quickly! My healing powers aren't strong
enough!"

Garnet added, "I'm out of mana, and he's still bleeding inside!"

Rinoa offered little help, "You used all of my junctions a long time ago! I can't do
anything!"

TM looked up from the broken president at all the people in the crowd. Very little could
spare anything to help. Whatever was produced to help did very little to heal him. Davis
then got an idea. He picked up Mokona off of Cindy's shoulder. "Eh?!" said Cindy, leaning
on the wall from her fight.

Davis yelled at Mokona, "Heal him! I know you can!"

Everyone looked at Davis and Mokona, where the latter just shook his head and said,
"Puupupuu! PuUuppu puuPU!" ("Impossible! I can do no such thing!")

"DON'T LIE!" Davis screamed back. "You're the Incarnation of Life! You can heal him! And
stop speaking in your language! You can speak English!"

"Eh?" Cindy muttered as Mokona sighed.

Mokona then looked up at Davis and said, "Come on! Why do you think I hid myself like this?"

"I don't care!" yelled Davis.

Cindy struggled to get to her feet then. She was surprised when Mokona spoke in English.
Even she didn't know he could do that. She limped to Davis and Mokona, "Hey, what the Heck
is going on?"

Davis and Mokona didn't look at her. Mokona just finally said, "Fine, but I need room!"

Davis set Kino on his shoulder, who had blood flowing from his mouth. The crowd made way
for him as he dashed through, following Mokona. Cindy limped after the two. They made it
through the double doors, through Rantmon's castle, and out onto the courtyard where the
broken ring was. Davis set him down on the stone floor as a white light came from Mokona.

Mokona placed its ears upon Kino, and to Cindy's surprise the Kino's bones rejoined, and
the blood around his mouth faded away. He began to breathe normally, and color returned to
his skin. Mokona... She never knew anything about this!

But before she could ask Mokona about it, there came a voice from out of nowhere, "Yo."
Everyone froze. Davis and Cindy's breath faltered. They recognized the voice. They shook
all over, realizing who it was. Slowly, steadily, they turned away from Mokona and Kino,
looking over their shoulder and seeing him.

It was Jallopsimon.

Author's Note:

[1] Tachi - In Japan, they have different names of blades of different lengths. A
knife-length blade would be a tanto. A short sword would be a kodachi (literally "child
sword"). A regular blade about 3 feet long is a katana. A longer blade would be a tachi.
There are other kinds of blades, but I forget at the moment.
