Chapter 3- Separation
`Kikyo!' Kagome thought as she looked up at her sister in despair. “You are Kagome's sister, the one that I am suppose to avenge along with the rest of her family.” she said as she began to turn away, but she was met with Inuyasha's gaze.
Quickly she hid her face in the shadows of her bangs, hiding her face and identity from him. She heard Kikyo laugh behind her, and she had to resist the urge to look behind her to see her sister's face.
“Avenge me? How can you avenge someone that is not dead, Seeker. Tell my sister that I wish nothing from her except her death!” Kagome gasped, looking behind her this time but Kikyo was gone. Kagome ran to the window and jumped out of it, she didn't bother to detransform, she ran over the building tops and landed on the balcony of her apartment.
She fell on her couch sobbing, she couldn't believe it. Her own sister wanted her dead! How was she suppose to handle that? How was she expected to handle it? Her front door opened but she didn't bother to detransform, it was Ayame.
Her friend sat down beside her and patted her comfortingly on the back and Kagome began to sob even harder. Ayame bent down to her ear.
“Detransform, Inuyasha and the others are coming, I hear them.” Kagome touched her shoulder as they walked in. Then she realized that her arm was still bleeding, and staining her white school uniform shirt! Wonderful. Carefully she kept her arm hid, hoping that the others wouldn't notice.
“I see you have received a visit from Seeker.” Inuyasha said angrily. Kagome nodded. Sango ran over to her best friend and hugged her tightly. Kagome gasped at her friend's loyalty.
“You've searched for Kikyo for so long. And to find that she wants you dead, it must be heartbreaking.” Sango said. Kagome tried to hold her tears in, but she broke down, sobbing on her best friend's shoulder.
“I thought...I thought that she would at least want me alive!” Kagome sobbed. She closed her eyes and remembered Kikyo's eyes, something had not been right about them. But what? They had been the same hazel color as always and...wait a sec! They had held no life! She was under someone's control.
“Could you all leave us alone? I'll take care of her, you guys go on ahead and get back to school.” Ayame said shoving them all out as she saw a gleam of understanding in Kagome's eyes.
She shut the door in their faces then looked at Kagome who was beginning to put the pieces together. Kikyo had to be under the demons, who killed her family, control! And Kakeromoro knew, the letter `N' had to be the first letter of the demon's name! Of course!
“I know that you just realized something, now spill.” Ayame demanded, her hands on her hips as she stared at Kagome, Kagome gave a small smile.
“That wasn't my true sister! She was under a demon's control! Ayame, how many demons do you know that are big demons that are truly capable of taking full control of a miko and their name begins with `N'?” Kagome asked eagerly.
“Umm...just one as far as I can remember, I'd have to ask Koga, but the guy that I'm thinking of name is Naraku, but he hasn't been seen in almost four years.” Ayame said, going to the door. “I'm going to get back to school, I'm guessing that you want to stay here, I'll see you later.” with that Ayame walked out of the door.
Kagome stood up and went to her bathroom, she carefully bandaged the wound on her arm and changed out of her school uniform, she pulled on a green shirt and a pair of jeans, then she touched her shoulder and was Seeker right away. She ran to her balcony door and jumped out and landed on a rooftop, a smile playing on her features. She was going to get all the information that she could on Naraku.

Inuyasha and the others waited outside Kagome's apartment building for Ayame, they began to walk away as Ayame joined them, then Inuyasha looked up and gasped. Seeker was standing on Kagome's balcony, then she jumped and Inuyasha growled. He took a running leap and followed the woman that had killed his brother, he ignored Ayame and the others calls.
“Stop!” he growled landing in front of her on one of the buildings that she had jumped on. She gave a startled gasp and almost lost her balance but with a few coordinated turns she was able to keep it.
“What do you want?” Kagome asked in her meanest voice, she was busy, and he just had to show up! She had to find out who Naraku was, if he had disappeared almost four years ago that was around the same time that he family had been killed and Kikyo had disappeared as well.
“You were in Kagome's apartment...why didn't you show yourself?” he growled, his hand coming up and his claws shining in the sunlight. Kagome gave a small laugh; she had already had an answer for that question before he had even asked it.
“Though Kagome may have no respect for me, and for all I know you may already know my true identity. But she begged me to hide when she realized that you were coming, and though she may not trust me, I believe in her values and I did as she asked.” Kagome said.
“She never told me who you were, and for that we are currently not talking to each other, all because of her damned loyalty to you!” he growled, inwardly Kagome winced at the anger in his voice.
“If you care for her as much as you seem to think that you do, maybe you should try to understand the predicament that she is in, but from the way that you act you don't seem very understanding, nor caring.” Seeker said as the wind began to blow, and suddenly the sun went behind a cloud.
Kagome's coat batted at her legs and her hair blew into her face, she watched as Inuyasha's hair also blew around his angry face. He was angry because she was right and she knew it. He hadn't been understanding at all about her having to keep Seeker's identity a secret.
“You....you have torn us apart!” he growled his hands fisting together. Kagome gave a short laugh at her friend's incompetence. She didn't realize how much she had already changed since Sesshomaru's death.
“From the way she talks there was never an `us'! Maybe it would be better if you just leave her alone! It would no doubt make her happier and put her through less turmoil of having to keep my secret and knowing that one of her friends wish to know who I am so that he can kill me!” with that Kagome jumped backwards off of the building and landed on the next one and ran towards the library.
She jumped into a room that had no one in it and quickly detransformed and walked out of the room and down the stairs into the main part of the library, she went over to the information computer and opened up a browser.
She typed in Naraku's name and clicked search. A man's picture popped up with long black hair and evil red eyes. Kagome had a flash of having seen him when she had been young, then shook her head, she had never met him before, she was almost positive of that.
So she clicked the print button and waited as the printer beside her printed off the information, she gathered it up and stapled it together. She then walked out of the Library and walked down the streets, she looked at her watch and realized with a startled gasp that her school had just let out.
And she was going to have to face Inuyasha very soon. She wasn't sure if she was ready if she could take the argument that would undoubtedly come, but she would rather get over with than have to wait forever for him to come to her apartment and ball her out.
“Kagome!” she sighed as his voice reached her ears, so she turned around and watched as he got closer to her. His eyes were glowing red, slightly but not enough to make him to go into full demon mood.
“I talked to Seeker.” his voice was slightly pained and Kagome inwardly winced. “She told me to leave you alone, that you had told her that.”
Seeker's personality took over. “In not so many words.” she said turning away, clutching the papers that she had got from the Library tightly, tears were trying to come into her eyes, but she refused to let them, letting her eyes blink several times.
He took a step back from her, surprised that she had actually said that and he realized with a sense of terrible guilt that her eyes were leaking, he turned away from her, his hand fisting as tears welled up in his own eyes.
“Kagome, what can I do to get your friendship back?” he whispered sadly, she turned towards him, he could feel her gaze on his back.
“Don't go after her...don't kill Seeker.” she whispered. He turned back towards her anger shining in his now completely red eyes, but her determination broke through the transformation.
“No...Kagome...I will avenge Sesshomaru's death.” he growled angrily and she seemed to sigh.
“Then...good-bye, Inuyasha. Forever.” she whispered, she turned and ran away, ignoring Inuyasha's cry. `I will never forgive you! Never! And thus...I can never forgive myself for doing this...I'm sorry...so sorry.' she thought dodging the people in the streets, tears rolling freely down her cheeks.
