Sango pulled in front of Jaylynn’s office more than ready to carry out their plan, she glanced over at Inuyasha who took a deep breath as he stared up at the apartment complex where her office was inside.
"Ready?" she asked him.
"You sure we can pull this off?"
"I don’t see what we got to lose by doing this."
"Right."
"Okay, you’re up to bat first Inu-chan," she said looking straight at him "Good luck."
"Arigato." he responded opening the car door and stepping out of the vehicle.
As Inuyasha slammed the car door shut and made his way up to her office, he glanced back at Sango hoping that this plan would finally get Sesshomaru out of his hair.
Once he reached her office the secretary smiled up at him. Feeling a little more at ease he approached her desk.
"Hey, Miss Miyake." he said to her
" Just call me Momiji." she began "Just go right in. She’s expecting you."
"Thanks." he responded giving her a small smile as he turned and walked into Jaylynn’s office.
"Inuyasha!" she squealed as soon as he walked through the door.
"Hey Jay."
Then before he saw it coming Jaylynn ran from behind her desk and launched herself at him almost causing him to fall over. She reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck in such a caring way that it shocked Inuyasha more than she knew. Then suddenly he wrapped his arms around her waist hugging her back in way that almost startled Jaylynn. She pushed herself back to look into his eyes but she saw nothing.
"Inuyasha," she asked with concern "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing." he responded letting her go and moving to go sit down.
Once Inuyasha sat down in one of the two chairs in front of her desk, he expected Jaylynn to sit behind her desk but instead she took the seat next to him and turning it so she could look at him. Inuyasha shifted in his chair to look at her as she reached out her hand and placed it on his arm.
"You know if something is wrong you can tell me right?"
"I know." he said looking down at his hands.
"Inuyasha," she said comfortingly "look at me."
Inuyasha looked up at her, his brown eyes meeting her green eyes as she waited patiently for him to speak.
"It’s Sesshomaru."
"Go on." she answered her gaze never wavering.
"I’m scared," he began "But not for me. I’m scared for my friends."
"What?" she gasped shocked "Why?"
"Sesshomaru went to see Sango when I wasn’t around and practically threatened her because I wouldn’t see him. I’m afraid he’ll go too far and do something to her."
"Are you sure Inuyasha?" she asked in total shock "I mean Sess is a cold son of a bitch but are you sure he threatened her?"
"Yes I’m sure!" he practically screamed. "What if he goes after Kohaku or any other of my friends next! I told you he would - "
"Shhh... Shhh..." she said rubbing his arms " It’s okay."
"No, it’s not." he said suddenly tearing up "I don’t want to see him. I don’t want to see someone who hates me."
Jaylynn’s mouth almost dropped open as she realized Inuyasha was crying. She stared as tears fell from his eyes and her heart practically broke in her chest. Jaylynn cared deeply for Inuyasha like her own younger brother. She had never seen him cry before, and she couldn’t help but feel responsible. Tears poured down Inuyasha’s cheeks as Jaylynn pulled him into another hug. His arms wrapping around her in an almost a scared way.
"I’ll take care of everything Inuyasha," she whispered to him "You’ll see."
Suddenly, the door to her office opened as Jaylynn looked over to see Momiji standing in the doorway. Upon coming across the emotional scene Momiji blushed not sure what to make of the situation.
"Umm," she began "I’m sorry to interrupt."
"Don’t worry about it." Jaylynn responded not letting go of Inuyasha "What’s wrong?"
"There is some girl here to see you." she started "I told her you were in the middle of a meeting but she’s being awfully pushy."
Just as Momiji finished her sentence the girl in question barreled through the doorway into the room almost knocking Momiji over and looking extremely angry. Inuyasha looked up, and instantly let go of Jaylynn.
"Sango?" he asked surprised "I told you to stay in the car."
"Fuck that!" she screamed "I want to tear into this bitch."
"Do you want me to call security?" Momiji asked
"No." she said standing up "I’ll handle this."
Glancing back at Sango she bowed and instantly left the room leaving the three to their problems.
"May I ask why you decided to come barging into my office?"
"Cause all this shit is your fault!" she screamed " Inuyasha told me everything you talked about at your last meeting. And if you didn’t make that damn deal with his asshole of a brother then none of this would be happening!"
Jaylynn winced at her words because she knew that Sango was right, and she now felt horrible. She thought that she was doing the right thing by making that deal but she now realized how wrong she was.
"Sango, stop yelling." Inuyasha said "I’ve got a fucking headache."
"That fuck threatened me if I didn’t influence Inuyasha to go see him!"
"I know." she said " Inuyasha told me"
"What the hell were you thinking!?!" she began to scream again " I can’t believe you who is suppose to be this super smart super woman was stupid enough to think -"
"Sango stop!" Inuyasha yelled over her "Jay didn’t know this was going to happen."
"No Inuyasha," she said walking behind her desk and sitting down " She’s right. I thought I could make Sesshomaru love you as much as I do if you spent sometime together. You’re really a great kid, and I thought I could maybe make him see that. I know that your father would’ve wanted that. He longed to see you both act like brothers, and friends. I guess my attempts were false ones. I’ll fix this Inuyasha."
"Jay," he began suddenly feeling like shit " I -"
"Then fix it." Sango piped up before Inuyasha could finish.
Nodding she pushed a button on her phone, sighing before she spoke.
"Momiji get Sesshomaru on the line for me."
After hearing a confirmation from her secretary she looked at the two teens standing before her.
"I promise I’ll fix this Inuyasha." she said in an almost pained voice " Just please try not to cry anymore."
"Come on Inu." Sango snapped " Let’s get the fuck out of here."
Getting up out of his chair he walked towards the door just as Jaylynn picked up the phone and put Sesshomaru on hold.
"I’ll call you when I get everything sorted out okay?" she said to him
"Okay." he answered as a few more tears fell from his eyes.
"I am sorry." she added as Sango took Inuyasha by the wrist and yanked him out the door.
Sango continued to march in an angry huff until she was outside where she let go of Inuyasha’s wrist and began laughing just as Inuyasha began to wipe the crocodile tears from his face.
"Hell yeah!" she screamed as they reached the car. "I’d say phase one is complete. Hell, I’d say we got phase two out of the way as well."
"I don’t know." Inuyasha said as he opened the car door and slid into the passenger seat.
"What do you mean?" Sango asked as she got in the driver’s seat and closed the door. "You’re a shit good actor Inu. I really believed you were truly upset. Taking that drama class at school didn’t go to waste, I’ll tell you that. And did you see that secretary’s face when I almost knocked her over? Priceless!"
" Still," Inuyasha said as Sango started the engine " Jay, looked genuinely hurt that I got hurt by all of this. It looked like she nearly died when I started crying."
" Hey," Sango began," Once this is all over everything will be fine. You can even tell her everything if you want."
" I don’t know." he said slumping in his seat. " This whole thing just sucks."
" I know." she said pulling out of the parking spot and driving off " We’ll wait for her call before we start phase two. It might not even be necessary now."
" Yeah," Inuyasha said with a loud sigh " Let’s hope it’s not."
