:P:P: Kagome's Time - Age Six - Higurashi Shrine/Residence :P:P:

'Kagome...' the voice whispered to the child, wide grey-blue eyes looked around searching for the sweet-sounding person. 'Kagome...' her eyes kept on searching, 'Kagome...' now she was sure from where the melodic voice had come from, the shrines well. When little Kagome didn't here her name called again she became frantic, running straight to the well, and nearly fell head over heals down the stairs. Panting like a dog, she tried to stand up, but her vision became blurry and her legs barely could hold her up. It was to be expected though, even though Kagome was but a child of six years, she had a heart condition that affected her critically to the point running a mere five minutes hurt badly. Still, with her stubborn will she went down the stairs, her butt hitting each step with a thud. Once she had reached the bottom, she could breath normally, and she let a small triumphant smile grace her features. 'Kagome...' she nearly experienced whiplash from the force and speed her head snapped upwards. Little Kagome stared intently at the well, which she was sure the voice had come from. 'Ka...go...me...' the child panicked slightly, the voice had sounded pained, never before had it been like that! Sure it went from sweet and gentle to angry and rough, but never had it held such pain. Without thinking the little girl Kagome jumped down the well, and a bright flash of light knocked her out.

'Donna hana sae itsuka wa kare yuku, Donna yume sae itsuka wa kie yuku, Donna ai sae itsuka wa same yuku, Donna hoshi sae itsuka wa tae yuku...'

The child Kagome opened her wide blue-gray eyes, holding back the tears that threatened to fall, her whole body hurt! Keeping still as too not disturb the voice or cause more pain, she listened carefully to the song. The meaning rang true in her small ears, /All flowers will someday wither. All dreams will someday fade. All love will someday cool. All stars will someday die./

'Naze hito wa motomete shukumei no kinu o matoru, Naze hito wat itsurou unmei no fuchi de, Kokoro ni kakushite iru mono, Mitsukete kami wa kizutsukeru, Daiji ni shimatte iru mono, Kowashite ore no waratte iru...'

Kagome couldn't help but let tears fall, not for herself, but for the voice! She had never met someone who was in so much emotional pain. An urge to help made her forget her pain, and helped her sit up. The song still lingering in her child's mind, /Why do people seek, wearing the silk of fate? Why do people fade, around the edges of destiny? Finding the things I hide in my heart. God hurts me. Breaking the things I hold precious. And laughing at me./

'Donna sora sae itsuka wa kure yuku, Donna kaze sae itsuka wa hate yuku, Donna toki sae itsuka wa kuchi yuku, Donna hito sae itsuka wa shini yuku...'

With strength she didn't have before, Kagome stood. A determined look on her face, as she forced herself to walk, limping lightly. The scenery was a void of violet, several shades of it actually. /All skies will someday fade to darkness. All wind will someday end. All time will someday rot. All people will someday./

'Itsu hito wa erande unmei no DOA o akeru, Itsuka wa yasuragu modorenai tabi de...'

Little Kagome walked and walked in the direction she thought the voice was coming from. She was going at a painfully slow rate due to her left leg, but it was steady and that was enough to know. /When will people chose to open the door of destiny? When will people go on a journey where they can't return to peace?/

'Namida ga akaku somaru hodo, Semetate kami wa kizutsukeru, Kono yo ni hitotsu dake no mono, Ubatte ore o azake warau...'

Another tear rolled down her red cheeks, her puffed eyes blinked rapidly to keep the salty liquid at bay. So much pain, so much loneliness, she had to change that, she had too! /The more my tears are stained with red. The more I want to blame God. As he steals the only thing I have in this world. And laughs at me with scorn./

'Naze hito wa motomete shukumei no kinu o matoru, Naze hito wat itsurou unmei no fuchi de, Kokoro ni kakushite iru mono, Mitsukete kami wa kizutsukeru, Daiji ni shimatte iru mono, Kowashite ore no waratte iru...'

The song was ending from what Kagome could tell, and she was getting closer. Soon she would be there. Soon she would end that pain. Soon she would beat away the loneliness. Soon. /Why do people seek, wearing the silk of fate? Why do people fade, around the edges of destiny? Finding the things I hide in my heart. God hurts me. Breaking the things I hold precious. And laughing at me./

'Namida ga akaku somaru hodo, Semetate kami wa kizutsukeru, Kono yo ni hitotsu dake no mono, Ubatte ore o azake warau...'

There! She could see a figure, indistinguishable, but still a figure to match the voice. Kagome was getting closer, a smile tugged at her lips before turning to a frown. The figure seemed to have no face. Long black straight hair flowed around the figure; the shadows clung to the silhouette. /The more my tears are stained with red. The more I want to blame God. As he steals the only thing I have in this world. And laughs at me with scorn./

The eyes opened, revealing narrow red orbs. The blood-colored eyes gazed at her with intensity, making her want to crawl into a corner, but she wouldn't be defeated so easily! Never! With her childish heart, and need to help, she ran to the figure and hugged the blackness that was substantial. The shadowy figure tensed at this unexpected move, for it had been anticipating death in its vulnerable state, not comfort. Small arms held tightly until pried off, before she could protest the voice she had been hearing for so long asked, 'Kagome...child, you have come to me, why?'

"You called me," she replied honestly. 'You...You heard me?' the darkness asked, seemingly startled. She blinked and nodded, "Yeah, why not?" 'I…I...thought no one could...' he, Kagome assumed at least, trailed off. "Oh, okay! What's your name?" She asked cheerfully, her voice full of innocence. 'I...don't have one...' Came the reply, laced with sadness and a bit of envy of Kagome. She missed it completely, not understanding why he didn't have a name, "Didn't your mommy and daddy give you one?"

'No. My mother didn't want me, and my father doesn't know I exist.' his voice shook slightly with barely concealed anger. "Ahh! Not right! Uh...I'll...uh...give you a name..." little Kagome stated, her brow furrowed as she thought. 'Thank you...' he said barely above a whisper, but it was full of emotion. "No prob! Um...um…um…how 'bout...Yami?" The name was simple really, meaning dark, and that was all you could expect from a child like Kagome. 'Yami...I am Yami.'

Kagome felt a familiar tug at her soul, and soft words whispered in her ears, /Kagome! Dinnertime!/ Even though little Kagome knew she wasn't at home, she was sure that was her mother. With a small frown, she said sadly, "I have to go, Yami. Mommy's calling." The darkness smiled, or at least it felt that way, and he said, 'Wait. You gave me a name, I need to give you something...' Then he placed a dark hand over her heart, and Kagome felt warmth fill it. 'Go...' and with a push she went back home, into the well.

"KAGOME! Where are you Kagome!?" Kagome's mother yelled.

Kagome spit out a bit of dirt and yelled back, "IN THE WELL, MOMMY!"

"Omigod! KAGOME!" Her mother's familiar face looked over the edge, worried. Little Kagome started climbing ignoring what her mother was trying to tell her, when she was close enough to the top her mother pulled her up and hugged her tightly. "Kagome! I thought I had lost you! Why where you down there?" She asked, hugging Kagome even tighter to her body. "I fell...sorry mommy." Kagome said feeling guilty for worrying her mother, and then she felt a slight curve in her mother's belly. "Mom why are you fat?"

Light: I did…well...I think...

Shadow: It sucked...

Light: Shut up. Review if you want. Constructive criticism welcome, don't blindly praise me though or flame me. I NEED you to be the critic so I can improve...

Shadow: Like that'll happen...
