Chapter 6
- - Sesshomarus POV - -
Kagome opened the door. "Mom, Gramps, Bro, Im home!" she yelled into the house.
Out came a short old man who shouted "Demon!" and started chanting, throwing paper
strips onto me.
"Gramps! Stop! You know those dont work anyway!"
"Yeah, Gramps! Youre always throwing them on Inuyasha," called a little boy who ran
out behind ,,Gramps. I growled at the mention of the name. "Woah! Sis! Who is this?"
"This is Sesshomaru." She smiled encouragingly at me.
"You mean the one whos always trying to kill you?" His eyes widened as my growl got
louder.
"No. The one whos always trying to kill Inuyasha. Now can you stop, Souta? Youre
being rude. Now wheres Mom?"
"Shes in the kitchen." Kagome dragged me away from the glaring ,,Gramps and into a
room that smelled like food. There was a woman sitting at a table in the room. She looked up
when we came in and stood up. I noticed she looked a lot like Kagome.
"Kagome! Youre back! And this is?"
"Sesshomaru. Mom, we need to ask you something." Finally, we were getting to the
point.
"Sure, sweetie! Lets all sit down first, though." The woman stayed standing while
Kagome and I sat down.
"Okay, so, Mom, first off - Sesshomaru is my mate."
The womans eyes widened. "I had better sit down, this sounds important." Kagome
nodded and the woman sat.
"And we have matching mating marks that arent supposed to appear unless were both
pure yokai."
"Oh, I knew shouldve told you!"
"Told me what, Mom?"
But the woman directed her next question to me. "Have you ever heard of dragon yokai?"
My eyes widened in shock. Surprised, I said, "But I thought they were extinct!"
"No, just hidden very well. Kagome, your father was a red dragon and I am a silver
dragon. Im sorry I never told you, but we wanted you to be normal. And then your father died.
We had an illusion maker disguise you as a human, but you can remove the spell. If you want to
see what you really look like, theres a scroll up in the basement that will tell you how to remove
the spell."
Kagome cried, "I cant take this anymore!" She ran up a set of steps and in through a
door, closing it firmly behind her.
"Oh, what have I done? Sesshomaru, could you go comfort her. Im sure she doesnt
want me near her now."
I nodded and walked swiftly up the steps and to the door Kagome had gone through.
"Kagome, could you let me in?"
She opened the door slowly, her eyes already red from crying. She stood there for a
second, then jumped on me, crying, "Sesshomaru!"
I picked her up and closed the door, moving towards the bed that was in this room. I
slowly lowered her down and slid down next to her. "Oh, Kagome!" I held her against my chest
while she cried.
"They lied to me. My entire life, they lied to me!"
"Kagome, they just wanted to protect you. I know they did lie to you, but isnt it for a
good reason? They wanted you to be a normal girl with a normal life."
She cried even harder. When she ran out of tears, she said, "Sesshomaru, do you know
about dragon yokai?" I nodded, and she continued, "Could you tell me about them?"
"Okay. The dragon yokai were . . . the most powerful yokai, but the most peaceful. Yokai
lords tried to capture them, to use the dragons power for themselves. So, one by one, the
dragons disappeared. We thought they were extinct, but apparently the illusion masters were
helping them hide. There were many different kinds of dragon yokai - the second most powerful
being the silver dragons. The silver dragons were all females, though. They had miko powers
along with control over ice. The red dragons were all males and had control over fire, metal, and
lava. The green dragons controlled earth and plants. The yellow controlled light and were
illusionists. The blue dragons controlled water, but not ice. When a silver dragon mated with a
red dragon, their female children were called rose dragons while their male children were called
clay dragons. Rose dragons, like yourself, had miko powers and control of ice, metal, and fire.
They were considered even more powerful than silver dragons because they had the additional
power of fire. Clay dragons looked like normal humans and controlled clay and mud.
"Only matings between silver or rose dragons and other types of yokai actually produced
children. However, a female red dragon could only produce children with a male red dragon, and
a green female with a green male, and so on. A clay dragon could only produce children with
humans."
"That explains my miko powers. Hey, Sesshomaru, will you come with me to remove the
illusion they put on me?"
"Yes." She got up and walked over to the door, opening it and walking through. I
followed. She walked up the hallway and pulled on a string that was hanging from the ceiling.
Down came a set of steps. We went up the steps and into a stuffy room full of stuff. She walked
over to a box labeled ,,For Kagome when older and opened it. Inside was a scroll that she pulled
out. She read it over silently.
"It says to repeat this part until the illusion starts to disappear." She started chanting
something, and was enveloped by the sparkles of a master illusionist. As the sparkles faded
away, I could tell she looked different.
Her hair had lightened a bit into a rosy brown. Her eyes were rose colored and her ears
were pointed like mine. She had two steel-colored stripes on her cheeks and a yellow crescent on
her forehead. On her right hands little finger, there was a small ring. As I looked closer, I
discovered it was a braided silver and red circle. Her skin had paled a little bit, showing a hint of
silver in its color. "Kagome, you look beautiful."
"Can we go find a mirror? I need to see what changed." I nodded, and we walked down
the steps and into her room again. She opened the doors to what appeared to be her closet and
took out a mirror. She gasped and fingered her hair, discovering then the ring on her little finger.
She looked back up at me and smiled. She jumped up to hug me. "Sesshomaru! I like it."
I smiled at her reaction. "Me too." I pulled back from her embrace so I could lightly kiss
her. "Do you want to go talk to your mother now?"
"Mmmm . . . maybe in a little bit." She deepened our kiss, leaning onto me. I pulled her
over to the bed, and slowly took off her kimono. I turned her around so I could massage her back
and noticed that she had what looked like a tattoo between her shoulder blades. It showed two
small rose colored wings.
"Kagome, there are wings drawn on your back. Is this a tattoo or part of your
transformation?"
"It must be from the transformation because Ive never gotten tattoo."
"Hmmmm . . . then yes, it probably is." I traced my finger lightly over the wings.
Kagome shivered delicately. I kissed a trail up her back and down her arm.
"Sesshomaru." She turned around slowly to look into my eyes. "I love you."
"Mhmm. I love you too, Kagome. You know, your eyes are still the prettiest I have ever
seen." She leaned toward me, pressing her lips against mine and closing her eyes. When she
pulled back, she started to put her kimono back on.
"Can we go talk to my mom now?"
"Of course, Love." We walked downstairs and Kagome tentatively called out for her
mother. The woman walked around a corner towards us and gasped, surprised at the change in
Kagomes looks.
"Kagome, you look . . . amazing. Im so sorry I kept this from you. Will you forgive
me?"
"Even if you did keep something this important from me, youre still my mom. So, yes, I
forgive you. And thanks for telling me when I asked. Sesshomaru told me about the dragons. But
Mom, does Souta know about us?"
"I told him after you went upstairs. But it doesnt matter, hell always look human."
Kagome nodded. "I think Im going to leave now. Ill come back some time. But I need
to go back to my home - Sesshomarus castle." She and her mom said their goodbyes and we left
to the well.
