Chapter 2: getting by...

Later that day I was allowed to go home. I walked in and saw that the house was cleaned. Mom’s and Ito’s bodies were gone. I went to my room and saw that a note was on my bed along with my mom’s wedding ring and my brother’s head protector. I opened the note. It read:
Miss. Hana Yuki,
I am so sorry for your loss. I am leaving this note to tell you that we have buried your mother and brother next to the creek at the entrance of the village. I have taken the liberty of giving you your mother’s wedding ring and your brother’s forehead protector. I ask you to keep them close to you and never let their memory fade away. You were a wonderful family and I am happy I knew you all for as long as I did.
Mine and my family’s hearts go out to you. Your neighbor,
Hiroyuki Hamada
P.s. If you need help with anything at all just come to us. We will be more than happy to help you.
I felt tears come to my eyes as I read it, and hastily wiped them away. I couldn’t stand seeing the blood again. I took my mother’s wedding ring and put it on the chain around my neck alongside my father’s who had died two years previously. As I looked at my calendar I realized that today was my 16th birthday. I sighed and said softly, “happy birthday to me...” and another tear slid down my face and this time I didn’t wipe it away. A thought came into my mind, ‘Im gonna leave this place. I will get my revenge on Itachi Uchiha if it is the last thing I do.’ With that I quickly scribbled a note to Mr. Hamada explaining what I was doing. And that I would be back once in a while to put flowers on the graves and to check up on everyone. I then put on my usual outfit consisting of a low-cut black shirt, tight but comfortable black capris, black knee-high laced boots, black leather bracelets with silver spikes, and a long black coat that go past my knees. Then I took some gray bandages and wrapped my torso outside the shirt, since the pressure alleviated some of the pain. I looked into the mirror and saw exactly how the scar’s looked. Long slashes running from my hairline to my jaw on both sides. ‘Ugly’ was the first thought to come into my mind. I looked at the bed again and saw the forehead protector. I picked it up and noticed that there were dark red stains on it. ‘Ito’s blood...’ I felt tears well up again but blinked them away. I kissed the Moon Village’s symbol, a crecent moon, and placed it low on my forehead, covering the top-half of the scars. ‘That looks a little better..’ I thought, ‘though.. It looks like im crying..’. I smiled ruefully and took my father’s sword off the mantle and took a shaky breath. I pulled my waist-length hair over my shoulder and cut it a few inches past my chin. Then I laid the bunch of silver and black hair (think Hatsuharu from Fruit’s Basket) on the mantle and placed the sword on top of it. I packed some of my things into a gray backpack, said a prayer, and left the note under a small stone on Mr. Hamada’s doorstep. I walked to the market and tried not to notice the stares that followed me. I walked into the flower shop and bought 7 lilies and some lavender. Then I walked slowly to the creek. The grave was marked by a crudely carved cross. I noticed that there were some flowers already there. I smiled slightly and placed the flowers next to the others. I said a silent prayer for my family and looked at a map. ‘Konoha..’ I read. ‘Father used to always talk about it when he was alive.. He talked about his friend Kakashi a lot.. I heard he was a teacher of ninjutsu there.. That could help me..” I put the map away and began my journey.Converting /tmp/phphSUqhI to /dev/stdout
