Drug Addict:

Her life spiralled out of control,
Myriad illusions filled her mind,
She carved her name in stone,
Taking a pill, destroying her life,
And laughing while doing so.

Her friends stood by, watching,
Unable to comprehend her actions.
They tried, they pleaded,
But soon they found out,
That her promises were written in water,
Their protests only binding her more tightly to her poison.

Her misery gave way to freedom,
Her unclipped wings took flight,
Wavering from hither to thither,
Breaking all possible rules.
Pleasure superceeded her virtues,
And she cared not about the consquences,
Because she had lost her long-forgotten conscience,
Along with everything else.

Reality became blurred,
Illusions became her reality,
She took the pills one at a time,
Welcoming the instantaneous light-headedness with open hands.
She chose to kill herself,
She was ready to die.

She gave in to a temptation,
A sordid fantasy which lasted only for a few hours,
But for those few hours,
She was happy, and carefree-
Her old self resurfacing once more.
But when those moments were past,
Her reprieve was shattered,
As her body failed her emotions.

Her friends just stood by, watching,
As the flickering light of her life faded away.
