Oh, how about a round of applause?
Yeah, standing ovation? Ooh, oh yeah
Yeah y-yeah yeah
At the stoplight, Anna reached out her delicate right hand to turn up her small, silver BMW's stereo. She vaguely recalled hearing the song that was airing at a party or a similar event, and she loved listening to Rihanna.
You look so dumb right now
Standing outside my house
Trying to apologize
You
're so ugly when you cry
Please, just cut it out
Anna remembered once having a boyfriend in high school. It was another one of those dumb, classic, high school crushes. Boy meets girl. Girl likes boy. Boy breaks up with girl. Girl is permanently scarred. Anna laughed bitterly.
Don't tell me you're sorry 'cause you're not
And baby when I know you
're only sorry you got caught
She was at his birthday party, and she wanted to give him her present in private. After half an hour of searching his large estate, a friend told her that she'd find him in his bedroom. She had found him in his bedroom, but he wasn't alone.
But you put on quite a show, really had me going
But now it
's time to go, curtain's finally closing
That was quite a show, very entertaining
But it
's over now
(But it
's over now)
Go on and take a bow
After that, the foolish boy had the nerve to tell her that he thought anything between them wouldn't work out. Just to pour salt on the wound, he had to go on about how sorry he felt for her.
Grab your clothes and get gone
You better hurry up before the sprinklers come on
Talking
'bout, “Girl, I love you, you're the one"
This just looks like a rerun
Please, what else is on?
Then a week later, he wouldn't stop mailing and calling her about how wrong he'd been and how much he loved her.
Don't tell me you're sorry 'cause you're not
And baby when I know you'
re only sorry you got caught
Anna didn't fall for his crap.
But you put on quite a show, really had me going
But now i
t's time to go, curtain's finally closing
That was quite a show, very entertaining
But it
's over now
(But it
's over now)
Go on and take a bow
He had serenaded her at school.
Oh, and the award for the best liar goes to you
(Goes to you)
For making me believe that you could be faithful to me
Let's hear your speech out
He had also been caught making out with Alicia Hamilton, Anna's worst enemy, behind the bleachers the same day.
How about a round of applause?
A standing ovation?
The last time she'd seen him was after graduation with the black eye she had given him.
But you put on quite a show, really had me going
Now it
's time to go, curtain's finally closing
That was quite a show, very entertaining
But it
's over now
(But it
's over now)
Go on and take a bow
But it's over now
As the song faded out, she arrived at her destination. She got out of the car, taking her keys and purse with her. She inhaled the cold, crisp air, she felt the frost and wind stinging her nose and cheeks, she heard the clickity-clacking of her own high-heels, she sensed the stone cold, business-like aura of herself, and she loved it. Looking up at a clean and rather quaint building, Anna smiled coolly, taking it all in. It was her biggest accomplishment, her own restaurant- Annie's.
