Summer Ride
Sunday Morning.
Evie awoke to the low hum of a motorcycle outside the lobby. She lifted her hand and wandered to the back door. Her eyes instantly brought her fully awake. Jack sat on his back ’11 Honda 70. Evie licked her plump. Jack looked up and noticed her. He gave her a little wave. Evie quickly slid open the door.
“Well look at you,” she said. “Morning, stud!”
“This is my girl,” he bragged. “You like her?” Evie walked outside.
“I do,” said. Beautiful black shone off the sun. What a body. Boy, what a body! Jack noticed her face.
“Like motorcycles?” he asked. Evie nodded at him.
“Uh-huh,” she said. The girl reached out to touch his bike, but paused.
“May I?” Evie asked. He gave her a little nod.
“Sure,” Jack said. Evie stroked the body of the beast.
“Whoa,” she breathed. Her eyes met his. He gave her a little smile.
“Care to ride with me on her?” he asked. Evie’s eyes lit up brightly.
“No way!” she gasped. “You mean it?” Jack gave her a nod.
“Of course,” he said. He handed her a helmet. “Hop on!” Evie smiled brightly.
“Sure,” she said. Jack took in the moment as she climbed on behind him.
“Let’s go,” he said. They took off on the Honda 70.
The heated summer air ripped through Evie’s long blonde hair. She hung on tight to Jack from behind.
“So where are we going?” she asked.
“Does it matter?” he asked.
“Nope!” she shouted.
“Fine by me,” Jack replied. They turned into the main road. Evie’s nose took in his smell. Cigarettes and beer. Usually not pleasant to a normal person. But, Evie those things. If on a hot guy, even better.
“Want to go faster?” Jack asked.
“Yeah!” Evie cheered. He sped up at her request. She laughed with the wind.
In thirty minutes, they stopped at a vending machine. Jack bought them both Pepsi.
“Thanks,” Evie said. Jack nodded. They took the first sip.
“So,” Evie said. “How long have you been riding?”
Jack smirked to himself. “Eight years.”
She gave off a low whistle. “Wow!”
“Yep. My old man got me hooked.”
She nodded. “Impressive.”
“And what about you?”
“Hm?”
“What’s your story? What got you into bikes?”
Evie sipped and smiled. “My first love.”
“What was his name?”
“Ralph.” Evie turned her can in her hand. “Much older. I was thirteen at the time. He didn’t stay long. Only two weeks.”
“Why is that?”
“He did as he pleased. I wasn’t free then. He seemed to have what I needed.”
“Freedom?”
Evie took another sip of her Pepsi. “Yep.”
Jack smirked to himself. “Want me to show you real freedom?”
She glanced at him. “You’re not just talking?”
“Nope.”
“Prove it.”
Jack stood up, grinning. “Come on.”
Evie finished her drink and smiled. “Cool.”
The pair headed back to the bike for more.
