Patrick was pacing when they finally arrived. After they had sat down, he took a deep breath before beginning. "Leia, it is your body, and you can do what you want with it. I wasn't.... I wasn't trying to stop you from doing what you want. I just didn't think that the school closet was the best place. If you want to do it with Nathan, that is fine; but at least pick someplace that has a bed."
Leia stood. "That's why you brought me here?" She rolled her eyes and started grabbing her things. "What a waste of time."Rio and Gabe shrugged then started to grab their things too.
"Would you preferred that I yelled at you?" He moved to the door, determined not to let any of them leave.
Leia sighed. "What do you want from me? You want me to leave you alone? Done. You want me not to have sex in school? Fine. What more do you want?"
"I would like for you to actually be happy with yourself for just once; and to be happy with those around you."
"Damn it!" she screamed. She turned to Gabe. "What did you say to him? Did you tell him my life story? Maybe add the fact that daddy dearest is a..." She groaned. "Get out of my apartment!"
She turned back to Patrick. "Stay out of my private life and don't worry, I'm changing schools." She pushed him roughly out of the way and swung the door opened.
"Leia! Wait!" Gabe called. Rio and him followed after her. "Are you really kicking me out? Leia!"
"Leia, they didn't tell me anything," Patrick yelled. Of course she wasn't paying any attention to him. He hadn't mean to make things worse. He just wanted her to...well, get help of some sorts.
Leia dialed her father. "Fucking bastard. Even when you aren't here you are ruining my life!"
"Leia, I don't have time for your childish games. What the hell do you want?" he groaned. In the background was a dinner party.
"I want you to change my school. And I want to be moved. The apartment is too big for one person."
"What about Gabe and Rio?"
"What about them?"
"Leia!" Gabe called. He rushed over to her as Rio was getting the car. "Please, don't be like this. We are only trying to help."
Leia hung up the phone. "I took you into my home without question. I took in your boyfriend without complaint. I go to the school you think is best and I pay your bills and buy you things whenever you want. The only thing I asked from you was to leave the outside world OUTSIDE! I don't want a teacher feeling sorry for me and I don't want you and Rio thinking I need to be fixed! Got it!?"
"Yes. We were out of line...I'm sorry," he said softly.
Leia relaxed. "Look...what I do with my personal life...how I deal with things, who I screw or don't screw...it's none of your business." He nodded. "I don't ask you about your personal life." He shook his head. "I won't be seeing Mr. Clain anymore so you don't have to worry about me getting into trouble." He nodded again. "And you aren't kicked out."
"And Rio?"
"He can stay too." Gabe hugged her as Rio pulled the car to them. "We are getting out schedules changed tonight."
They both nodded.
Patrick was a worried wreck by the time school let out. All he could think about was what happened to those three. He wanted to go over there to make certain that everyone was okay and that Leia wasn't suicidal, homicidal, or anything in between. Getting in his car, he drove past her house...twice. Nothing seemed amiss.
Leia sat on the couch eating some of Rio's homemade chocolate peanut butter balls while the boys watched her closely. She looked ok, sitting there snacking and watching her favorite show in her pajamas. She didn't look upset about dropping Patrick's class or about dropping Patrick. She didn't look upset about anything, but Leia was really good at looking like a normal, worry free teenagers.
"More chocolate or peanut butter?" Rio asked. She was sampling his snacks.
"Chocolate." She held up her glass and Gabe grabbed the milk out of the fridge.
Patrick finally stopped and pulled up to the building. Right now was the perfect time that he wished he had a cell phone. Going up, he vaguely remembered the way up to their door. Taking a deep breath, he knocked slowly, hoping it was one of the boys and not her that answered.
"I'll get it," Leia said. "It's probably Nathan. I left the poor guy a little disoriented." She walked to the door and opened it. Taking a bite of her chocolate ball she looked Patrick over. "What?"
Of course it would be her. "I was just stopping by to check on all of you."
"We don't need charity," she rolled her eyes then shut the door. She walked back over to the couch and sat down. Rio and Gabe just stared at her.
Patrick sighed and knocked on the door again. He wasn't going to leave so easily.
Rio hesitated but walked to the door. "Don't answer it. He's selling heartfelt moments," Leia warned.
Rio opened the door. "Want to come in? I made chocolate peanut butter balls."
"They're my balls and he can't have any," Leia laughed. "I always wanted to say that."
Gabe threw a ball at her and she caught it in her mouth as she watched her TV show.
Patrick relaxed when Rio opened the door. Leia made a joke, so hopefully he wouldn't get stabbed if he walked inside. "Yes, I would love to try some," he said with a smile. "And no, Leia, I don't want any of your balls..."
Rio closed the door behind him and gestured to the plate of goodies on the bar. Leia didn't bother looking up from the TV.
"What brings you here, Mr. McClain?" Gabe asked.
"We changed our schedule...we're no longer in your class or gym."
"Oh..." He looked over at Leia when he heard that. "That is a pity. Rio is an excellent student. I am going to miss having you in my class." Reaching out, he slowly tasted the goodies, smiling when they were every bit as good as he expected. "I came by to check on you and to make certain that I hadn't upset all of you." Though of course it was too late for that.
"Why don't you go to some other student's house and play your sappy record to someone who won't throw it at you," Leia said and turned up the volume.
"We're fine," Gabe said. "That's what she means."
"I see," he said softly. Forcing a smile, he nodded. "I am glad to know that you are alright."
"Again, we don't need your Hallmark card moment. Away," she waved her hand at him though she still didn't look away from the TV.
"Don't take it personal. She treats all people with the same amount of hate," Rio shrugged.
"At least she is an equal opportunity hater," he sighed. Walking over to her, he hugged her neck before starting for the door.
"Why in the world would you hug me?" she snapped.
Gabe smacked his head. "Why would you open a door when you just closed one, Mr. McClain?"
"Shut up, Gabe. Answer the question Mr. Caresalot."
"I was just saying...goodbye," he said quickly.
"Don't give me that bull. Saying goodbye has never meant hugs were passed around," she said sharply.
"I could hug Rio and Gabe goodbye if it would make you feel better."
Both Rio and Gabe back away. "No thanks."
"You hugged me for some reason. Why would you hug me? You made a huge deal about forgetting the fact that we went down on each other at two separate times and yet you come to my place, eat my food, and hug me. What the hell!?" she demanded. She turned back to her TV. "You know what, just get out. It's not worth the time or energy."
"As I said, I was and still am worried about you. You're a very sweet girl, and I care about you."
"God man, dig yourself a deeper hole!" Gabe yelled.
Leia turned to Patrick. "You care about me? You've known me for less than a week and suddenly you care about me? Ha! Go play in the street and whisper your sweet nothings in someone elses ears, you jackass." Once more she turned back to the TV.
"She's letting you go with no strings. Why are you still here?" Rio asked shaking his head. Was he just stupid?
"Simple. It's because I don't want you to end up like someone else I knew," he spat. "I don't want you to end up in the gutter with your throat slit and your genitalia mutilated because you were looking for a fun time."
"Throw him out," Leia said with narrow eyes. "Go to a church and preach to the people that will listen. I could care less if you want me dead or alive. You mean about as much to me as that stupid puppy Gabe got me a year ago."
"Hey you loved that puppy!"
"For five minutes..."
"I'm leaving," he assured her. "I won't be bothering you anymore." With a curt nod, he turned on his heels and went to the door, closing it behind him he made his way to his car and didn't look back.
Leia went to the fridge and grabbed an egg carton. "What are you doing?" She ignored Gabe and went to the door. Opening she went to the balcony and threw an egg at Patrick's car. "Leia!"
She threw another and another, nailing the car over and over. "Jerk," she mumbled. Tears poured from her eyes and when she was out of eggs, she threw the carton at the car and went back in, slamming the door and stomping to her room.
Both Rio and Gabe were speechless...neither had ever seen her cry before.
"What the-?" Patrick groaned when he saw what had happened to his car. Looking up, he growled. This was her car, she'd paid for it.... If she wanted to get pissed and throw eggs at it...then so be it. "Damn kids," he muttered.
"Leia...honey...are you ok?" Gabe called from the other side of her door. She didn't answer, but he could hear her sniffling.
"Leia, if you want to talk about it...we are here for you," Rio added softly.
"Where does he come off saying stuff like that? Who is he to care about what I do with my life or if I end up dead?" she said on the other side.
"He's a teacher. Teachers think they have to stick their noses in places it doesn't belong," Gabe said as he placed his hand on the door. "Just don't listen to him."
"Do you want me to get you something?"
"Just...just leave me alone..."
Patrick got home and quickly shot water at his car so the eggs wouldn't destroy it. Once it was relatively clean, he went inside only to be greeted by a fist to the face.
"Oy! Didn't realize it was you!" Shamus said with a laugh. "You shouldn't be sneaking in on me."
"This is my house," he groaned, holding his already blackening eye. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"I'm crashing here while the cops are looking for me."
Leia stood. "That's why you brought me here?" She rolled her eyes and started grabbing her things. "What a waste of time."Rio and Gabe shrugged then started to grab their things too.
