Patrick opened up the door, nodding to the maids as he went upstairs. "Leia, I'm back already," he said, still breathing hard from his actions and from the long trek there. He noticed the bag and her phone. "Hey, is everything alright? What's going on?"
"Where is your phone?" she said harshly. "I only had one damn rule. Keep the fucking phone on you at all times." She rolled her eyes. "But I prepared for this because I know that when you have sex you have a one track mind." Reaching over she grabbed an envelope off the table and handed it to him. "Plane ticket, money, numbers, and important names of people. There is also a letter explaining everything because I don't have time to. To put it in short, a guy came over looking for you. Your brother might have committed treason and you might have been in on it." She closed her suit case and set it next to the door with the other two she had. "Though I wish I could go with you on the run we both know I can't because they will find you through me. It's just easier for me to go home and keep my mouth shut. Follow the directions on the letter. Don't be hard headed or stubborn. This isn't a game. No I won't contact you and after this moment...it will be the last time you see me." Leaning over she hesitantly kissed his cheek. "I hope Lilith was everything you wanted." The maids came in and she pointed to her bags. "Good bye, Mr. McClain. I pray you follow the letter and do as I say for your safety. If it weren't for the fact that they could track me to find you...I would call and write, but I can't." She walked out leaving him there.
As soon as she got into her car the doors locked. "Hello doll face." The driver looked at her with a smirk on his face. The window rolled up separating the two of them as gas filled her section of the limo.
Leia was able to dial Gabe's number on speed. "Kidnapped...." she said as the gas set in and she blacked out.
Gabe looked at the phone then at Rio. "We have to call her father...."
The man whistled as he drove away, no one thinking twice as he changed directions to meet up with someone else. "I must admit," the man with glasses said as they opened up the door. "I was rather impressed when he said you knew her. To think that your brother was banging an heiress. Her father should pay dearly to keep her alive."
Shamus laughed and nodded. "Aye. And then we'll be rolling in dough!"
Leia's father paced as Gabe was on the phone with him. A few seconds later, he threw the phone and was yelling orders about. It hadn't even been an hour and already Leia was being filed as a missing person and her father was sending people to Ireland. Of course he would pull out everything to have her found. She was his only heir.
First thing they did after getting Leia's body secured was finding daddy dearest and calling him. "You have one hour. One billion dollar or your daughter dies." Shamus hung up the phone, setting down the voice changer and smirking. "Now all we have to do is wait." He walked over to Leia, stroking her unconscious body. "I can't see what my brother likes in these little girls. They're not filled out enough for my tastes."
Leia's father continued to pace. Gabe and Rio stood in his office. He had the jet pick them up as soon as they called. "We are wasting time! We have to get the money!" Gabe yelled.
"A billion dollars is a lot of money," Mr. Johnson said.
Gabe shook his head. "She's your daughter! How can you even think about the money!"
"This is the money I worked hard for!" he snapped. Gabe stepped back, Rio pressing next to him. "I can just as easily have another child but I can not replace a billion dollars!"
"You bastard! She's your flesh and blood!"
"Get them out of my office," he said waving his hand. "I've made my choice."
Both Rio and Gabe fought against the guards as they were thrown out. Tears streaked Gabe's face as he sat on pavement. "What...what do we do?"
"We access Leia's emergency money..." Gabe said and pulled out a card.
"What? I didn't know she-"
"Her mother had always been putting money back for her and Leia only added to it when she got old enough to. She gave me the account information just in case something like this happened and her father gave her up. It's nowhere near a billion...but it's enough to get us to Ireland and track her down," Gabe said softly as he pulled out his phone.
"What if we are too late?" Rio asked in fear.
"Dead or alive, she will be returned home."
"This is utter insanity," Patrick muttered. Even so he was standing at the airport. His flight had been delayed...again. The first time the airplane needed repairs. Then its repairs needed repairs. Then it's replacement needed repairs. Finally they had a good plane but their copilot was gone. He had gone back to get his cell phone, but no matter how many times he tried to call she never answered her phone. She was either really pissed or she was seriously avoiding him.
"This is still bull crap!" He kept rereading what she had told him. His brother, a traitor? There was no way. His brother was a war hero. He was decorated with seven different honors at his death. He wouldn't betray his country.
Rio and Gabe landed with Leia's private jet. They didn't bother with waiting in lines, they just pushed through people. "Ireland is a big place....how will we find her?"
"Start at her house. We will look through her things for the number of that guy she uses to track people." Gabe stopped and looked at Rio. "All she has is us....and it's been longer than an hour..."
Patrick checked his ticket. His plane was finally boarding. "Finally," he muttered. Grabbing his bag, he checked his phone one last time. Sending a text to her, he simply told three words. 'I chose you'.
Gabe got in the limo after Rio. Both were numb. They had no idea if Leia was dead or not and it was going on six hours. Gabe gave the driver Leia's address and they stared off.
Patrick sat down in first class. Of course she would get him a first class ticket. The seats were comfortable, but he still wished that they could have talked more than what they did. As soon as he got the chance he was going to have to talk to her. To call her, to find out something. He could always go to her father if need may be. It was only a five hour flight to where he was going.
He closed his eyes, trying to relax. It was a good thing that the seats were comfortable. A second later they were told it was going to be another delay due to a storm.
Rio sat on Leia's room floor. Papers were scattered everywhere and he couldn't stop crying. "We've looked everywhere! Where's the damn number!?"
Gabe was searching for her lap top all over again. He had held back his tears because for once he had to be the strong one. Rio was a mess. "It's a big house, Rio. Stop freaking out. We have to stay positive. We have to believe she will be found and that she's ok."
Patrick checked his phone. Sending another text to her, he searched through the records. She wasn't answering any of them.
Shamus looked at the texts which kept flooding in. He chuckled. "Patty me boy. You're such a sap." He set the phone on top of her laptop which he'd confiscated from her bag. This was going to be fun.
Gabe sat back. They had the maids looking in the house but it was morning and still the number wasn't found. Now...he was losing hope. The cops weren't looking anymore and he knew her father was shutting up those who knew she had been kidnapped. They were all just waiting for a body to surface. Gabe pulled Rio to him while he slept. He had passed out hours ago from tears. Gabe was trying to keep his tears from hitting Rio's face.
"I've failed you yet again, Leia...can I do nothing right?"
"Why hasn't her father contacted us yet?" Shamus paced back and forth. They were running out of sedatives to keep her drugged.
"I don't know. What kind of father with that much kind of money wouldn't pay for his daughter?"
Shamus growled as he threw a table down to the ground. "Damn it! What are we going to do if he doesn't pay?"
"We kill her and cut our losses."
Shamus ran his hands through his hair. "That's easy for you to say. I'm a dead man without that money." His eyes widened as he looked at her cell phone. "Unless my brother's bleeding heart is enough to score some cash."
Patrick looked down at his cell phone as it rang. Finally Leia was calling him. "About tim-"
"We have Leia. You have one change. Twenty four hours get us all the money you can. We'll call back for details."
With that the phone went dead.
Rio stirred at Gabe moved to grab his phone. "Did we find it?" Rio asked hopeful.
"No...but we need help...and the only other person-"
"She left him, Gabe...he wouldn't know anything. For all we know he could be in on it."
"All the more reason to call. If he is on it, he will be the first to die." Gabe dialed Patrick's number.
"Listen ye fucker. I don't have any idea what kind of sick game ye be playing, but I swear to God that if ye try anything I will make you regret it."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
Patrick's eyes widened. Already passengers were staring at him as he stood and grabbed his bags. Something was wrong. "Gabe. What the hell are you doing? How do ye have this number? What's going on?"
"Leia gave me your number in case something happened...and something did...." Gabe filled him in, telling him everything he knew. "It's been nearly twenty four hours since she's been missing...I know you can't do much but you know Ireland and you can give us a good start to finding her."
"You're at her house?" Patrick shrugged of the flight attendants as he unlocked the emergency door. The inflatable slide burst open and without looking back he jumped down and slid to the ground. "Send a car. I'll be there when I can."
He hung up the phone and searched his records for the previous call. Saving the number, he got in the car which was waiting for him. Upon getting to the house, he tossed his stuff in the doorway and handed his phone to Rio. "You're good with computers. Take that number and see if you can't trace it back to a route source." While Rio did that, he looked back at Gabe. "They want money. Tell me that bastard father of her's isn't going to let her die over some cash."
Rio instantly got to work. "Seems odd they would call you and not Gabe...I mean....everyone who knows Leia knows Gabe is the closest thing to her. He knows everything about her."
Gabe's eyes narrowed. "That's right. The only way they would call you is if they didn't know me or didn’t know that Leia and I grew up together..."
"It's got to be someone Mr. McClain knows," Rio said as he tracked the number.
There was the distinct sound of cracking wood as Patrick's fist slammed into an antique oak table. "Shamus," he hissed venomously. They were right. Anyone who had targeted her would have done their research. If her father didn't take the bait then they'd call Gabe. He wasn't even suppose to be in the picture.
"It's Leia's phone...but she cashed in on the expensive tracker if she ever lost it." Rio said as he printed out the information from Leia's desktop computer. "I've tracked her phone to this address."
He handed it to Gabe and Gabe looked it over then gave it to Patrick. "Do you know where this is?"
Patrick's blood was literally boiling as he looked over what Rio printed out. "Aye," he whispered. "It's my old family home."
Rio and Gabe looked at each other. "Let's go."
Patrick walked down the hallway to the kitchen. Reaching into a drawer he pulled out a long butcher knife. He would have preferred a gun, but this would have to do. "Now we can go," he said, walking past them to the car. It was an hour drive. There was no telling if Leia was even alive now. It didn't matter. Alive. Dead. The results would be the same.
When they pulled up to the house, Gabe's breath was caught. It looked abandoned. Rio and him got out of the car and looked at Patrick.
Leia's eyes slowly fluttered open. Her head felt heavy and her eyes were blurry. She didn't want to move because everything felt so heavy. "Where....am...I?" she whispered.
"Both of you stay here," Patrick ordered. Taking his glasses he handed them to Gabe. "I'll get her out. When she comes out, get her in the car and if I'm not out in five minutes just drive."
"Damn it. She's awake," glasses muttered.
"Shh! She's still out of it," Shamus muttered. "We're out of drugs to keep her out."
Leia tried to focus but it was all just dark blurs. "Who...is there?" she mumbled.
"Where is your phone?" she said harshly. "I only had one damn rule. Keep the fucking phone on you at all times." She rolled her eyes. "But I prepared for this because I know that when you have sex you have a one track mind." Reaching over she grabbed an envelope off the table and handed it to him.
