Patrick nodded understandingly. "Okay then. Scoot over," he ordered, kicking off his shoes and socks as he started for the other side of the bed.
Alice watched him. "I have a horrible case of the flu. Sleeping with me is out of the question."
"Right. I'll keep that in mind," he said as he slid beneath the covers.
Leia looked at him and fixed her mask on her face once more before laying down next to him. "No snuggling."
"Of course not. I wouldn't dream of that," he stated. Wrapping an arm around her, he pulled her against him as he got comfortable. His grip was firm yet soft. She wasn't getting away.
"I could have sworn I said none of this was to happen," she groaned. "Fine...snuggling is ok, but nothing else."
"Sure. Sure. Whatever ye say." He smirked and snuggled into the bed. Closing his eyes, he found that sleep was not going to come easy for him. Even though he hadn't gotten much sleep in the past few days he still couldn't find any peace when he closed his eyes.
With the medication in her, Leia slept like a rock. She barely moved and didn't make much noise. If Gabe were there, he would have sworn she were dead.
The first rays of the sun peeking into the room earned a barely audible groan from Patrick. His arm which was pinned beneath Leia was tingling due to being asleep. He was thoroughly jealous of his appendage. He tried to shift Leia, who despite his constant moving throughout the night, hadn't budged or stirred once. She was so cute when she was drugged up.
Leia blinked a few times then threw a pillow at the window. "Stupid sun with your stupid light..." she groaned. "Drug me up...everything sucks..." Her head hurt, her body ached, she hated the world.
He couldn't help but to chuckle at how pathetic she sounded. "Okay princess," he laughed. Kissing her forehead, he crawled out of bed and grabbed her medicine. Pouring her a spoonful he held it out for her.
Leia took the medicine without complaint. Her stomach growled. "Maybe I'll try to eat something today..."
"Of course. What are you in the mood for?" He sat down at the foot of the bed. Taking her head, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers. "You still have a fever."
She pushed him away and fixed her mask. "Stop that." She shifted. "And just something light."
Patrick just snickered and nodded. "Okay. I'll be back." Getting up, he stretched, wiggling his fingers to get the feeling back in them while venturing down in hopes of finding the kitchen again.
After he was gone a few minutes, Vince walked in with the school books. She smiled behind her mask at him. "You are very early."
"I told you I would be. Brought you breakfast. Something for the stomach. My mother made it for me when I was sick." He said down on her bed and pasted her a container with a spoon. "It's soup."
She opened it and smelled. "Wow...this smells great."
"Are you certain you would not like me to help you with that?" The maid looked anxiously at Patrick as he went around the kitchen grabbing ingredients.
"No. I'm quite alright and able to manage for myself. I want to make her something that I use to have when I was sick," he explained as he cut up ingredients and dumped them into a pot.
Leia took a bite of the soup. "Mmmm," she moaned.
"I'm glad you like it," Vince whispered as she chewed with her mask off. He opened some of the books. "Let's get to work." She nodded.
Patrick worked on the soup for a good twenty thirty minutes before it was perfect. It tok him a while, but he was finally satisfied with his dish. Nodding, he fixed her a bowl, telling the maids to help themselves if they wished. Taking it upstairs, he had her utensils ready as well as some pills that she had to take in addition to her other medicine. Pushing the door open with his back his smile instantly fell as he realized that Vince was already there and she was eating something else. "I made you breakfast," he stated sourly.
Leia put the empty container down. "Seems she wanted what I had to offer more," Vince said as he put the container back in his bag.
Leia turned her head and coughed for a bit, groaning at how hot she was and how much she hated being sick. Vince dabbed the sweat from her forehead with a handkerchief. She turned to look at Patrick. "I'm still pretty hungry," she said looking at his soup on the fancy tray.
"It's okay. You shouldn't over do yourself so quickly," he said. "You can always try my soup some other time. After all, it's not as if we don't live together. I can fix it for you whenever you like." His eyes burned into Vince while he set the tray aside. Taking her glass of water and her medicine, he handed them to her so that she could take them.
She took the pills and downed them with the water. A moment later, she put her mask back on. "If you say so." She wasn't oblivious to the tension between the two men, though she couldn't fathom why. One was her teacher and the other...well...he's the guy she slept with but didn't trust. Was that still a boyfriend?
"Why hasn't your fever broken? You were fine when I left yesterday," Vince said. He moved closer to her, wiping her face. "You should take a cold bath."
Gabe popped in just in time. He smiled at Leia and only a few seconds later, Rio came in behind him. "Someone didn't share you last night," Gabe said smirking at Patrick.
"Next time, I'll break the damn door down," Rio snapped.
"Don't start," Leia said holding up her hand. Though both Gabe and Rio had issues with Patrick, Gabe kept his more to himself while Rio blurted out his any chance he got. Which only gave Leia a bigger headache. "I don't have the patience for it," she added. "A cold bath sounds nice."
"We'll help," Rio said quickly.
Gabe nodded and started to her bathroom to get the bath ready while Rio held the door open. "You two can leave until she's done."
"Of course," Patrick said. He motioned to the door. "After you Mr. Daniels."
Vince wiped her face again as her eyes met his. "We'll continue lessons after you are done if you are up to it."
She nodded. Taking Rio's hand, he helped her stand and Vince started to the door. He glanced over his shoulder just as Leia dropped her silk nightgown to the floor, giving him the perfect view of her naked form from behind. Turning back to the hall he stepped out. Rio shut the door after Patrick walked out as well.
Patrick waited for the door to shut before dropping his smile. "I'm going to give you a warning out of professional courtesy. If ye ever try to get another peek at her like you just did, it will not end well."
Vince's eyes harder. "Don't play the hero now. You don't deserve someone like her and you know it. It was stupid to sleep with Lilith. Do you know she told me all about it? She tells me a lot of thing when I'm here. It's obvious she doesn't trust you anymore." He pushed pass him and started down the stairs to Leia's library. "You made a huge mistake. And everyone knows it. Even she does. But for some reason she's stuck on you." Looking over his shoulder at Patrick his eyes narrowed. "How long do you think this relationship will go one before she realizes you are just a high school crush and you used her? How long do you think she will stick around after she finds someone better, Mr. McClain? One day she will grow up while you will still remain a child." He finished walking down the stairs and headed to the path to the library.
Patrick's fist tightened. This man was irritating. Rather than incite further drama or to fuel his stupid allegations, Patrick turned and went down to his room so that he could actually get dressed this morning. After turning on the shower, he tossed his glasses on the bed, and simply allowed the warm water to drain his thoughts away.
Gabe and Rio ran the water over Leia and after she sat in the tub shaking for thirty minutes, her fever broke and she was quickly lifted out. She shook in Gabe's arms from the cold as he and Rio got her dress and back in bed. Vince walked back in after he was noted that she was ok and wanted to finish. He sat on the bed next to her going over the lessons while she listened and wrote things down like always. At lunch, they took a break.
"Have you spoken to him yet?"
"He came to me yesterday with apologizes," Leia said as she played with the soup Patrick made earlier. "Promises were made. Words were tossed."
"Do you believe them?" he asked.
"Should I?"
"I'll be at Samuel's," Patrick told Gabe as he pulled on his jacket. "I owe it to him to at least explain it to his face why I no longer am working with him."
"Why exactly are you no longer working for him?" Gabe asked as he crossed his arms. "Because she said she wanted to or because you don't want to? Because if you are doing it because she said she didn't want you to, you know she's not going to take kindly to it. She doesn't like those who jump because some said they needed to."
Patrick smirked and rubbed his shoulder. "I'm not doing it because she told me, though her request did play a part in my decision. If I want to be a part of her life, it's only correct that I take her into consideration. She doesn't want me to be around Lilith, and I'm rather tired of getting burned and beaten every day. It's time for a change for me."
Gabe snorted. "Whatever," he said and started back to what he was doing.
Leia leaned her head on Vince's shoulder unknowingly. She was so tired and the medication she took for lunch was kicking in. He brushed her stray hairs from her face and closed all the books. "I should let you rest," he whispered. She nodded with her eyes closed but slipped forward and rested her head in his lap, sleep claiming her in the process. He smiled and lightly ran his fingers over her skin and hair, enjoying her.
Patrick stayed at Samuel's for a while, being completely honest with him and explaining his position. At the end, Samuel found no real fault in him for doing what he was. Granted, he thought that Patrick was an idiot for turning down Lilith, but he was her father, so it was bound to be expected. In the end, Patrick felt slightly better about what he was doing. At least, that was until he got back and saw that Vince's car was still there. It was almost dinner time. He had no reason for being there.
As soon as he stepped inside, he went straight up to Leia's room.
Leia rested with her head on Vince's lap while he read a book with his reading glasses. One hand rested on her head while the other held the book up so he could read. It was a quiet moment and he was content. Leia seemed content as well and he had no intention of moving until she woke.
Pushing open the door, Patrick felt a growl in his throat as he glared at them. Yes. He was indeed a hypocrite. "I see that you've made yourself comfortable."
Vince put a finger to his lips to show Patrick to be quiet. He didn't even bother to look up from his book. Flipping the page, he moved his hand over Leia's face again.
Patrick's breath caught in his throat. It did that because if not, he was fairly certain that he would be screaming obscenities right now. "It is past your tutoring time. Leave. I will watch after her."
"Why would I move a sleeping, sick young woman? I have no place to be and she invited me here. If she wanted me to leave, she would have asked me to before she placed her head into my lap," he said and flipped the page again, still not bothering to look at him. His fingers twirled her hair lightly as she slept.
He realized that he was losing his temper. Didn't he have a right to? "Very well then. I will simply wait here for her to wake up," he said, his voice soft and a smile forced on his face. Sitting down in one of the chairs, he glared daggers into Vince, daring him to do anything which would give him reason to pummel him to the ground
"Suit yourself," Vince said as his fingers brushed through Leia's hair with care.
"Just because she is resting in your lap does not mean that you have to caress her," he muttered.
"And you sleeping with some other girl gives you the privileged to?"
"I don't see how my personal fairs or what I do with Leia is any of your business."
"She has to have someone to talk to."
"Regardless of who she chooses to talk to, that is still none of your business." Patrick stood and walked over to the edge of the bed. His hands reached out and stroked her face, gently nudging her. "Leia, it's time to wake up and take your medicine."
"She took her medicine only a few hours ago. Why don't you just give her an over dose?" Vince growled. Leia moved, shifting and moving closer to Vince. Her hand crawled up his thigh.
"Not yet, Mommy...I don't want to go to school..." she muttered.
"She has to take four doses a day. I am only following doctor's orders. Something you'd know if you had been charged with taking care of her," he snapped coldly. Taking Leia's hand, moving it from him, he gently pulled her up. "You need to take your medicine, Leia."
Leia's eyes fluttered open as she swayed while being pulled up. She slumped against Patrick and her eyes slowly shut again. "You smell like metal...and Lilith's perfume..." she muttered.
Vince's eyes snapped to Patrick. "Cheating again?" she muttered more. It was meant as her normal sarcastic tone but she was so tired it came out wrong.
"Yes, of course I was," he sighed, rolling his eyes. He didn't feel like explaining himself. Popping two pills into his hands, he offered them while taking a glass and handing it to her. "Here. Take these."
She pulled at her mask then took the pills very slowly. Vince leaned in to her, cupping her face. "I will see you Monday. Tomorrow I will take a personal day, alright? You have my number." She nodded. He smiled. "Good." She smirked as he grabbed his things and started out.
As he left she leaned against Patrick again. "He smells like cedar and apples...I love that smell."
Alice watched him. "I have a horrible case of the flu. Sleeping with me is out of the question."
"Right. I'll keep that in mind," he said as he slid beneath the covers.
Leia looked at him and fixed her mask on her face once more before laying down next to him. "No snuggling."
