Patrick smirked, still hovering beside her protectively. "What she needs now is rest. I'm certain that she'll attend to her school work once she is feeling is better."

"It's ok. I don't mind doing the work. It's better than being in the school," she said with a shrugged. She looked at Gabe and Rio. "When are you guys leaving?"

The looked at each other. "Actually...we were hoping you would come back with us."

"After everything...maybe it's for the best."

"She can get kidnapped just as easily there as she can here," he told them. "Either place she goes, it's not as if her father will help her."

"No but there at least she has us and we won't be sleeping with random girls while she's at home alone," Rio said with narrow eyes.

"He only slept with one other girl," Leia pointed out.

"And it happened to be the same night you got kidnapped!"

"Wait...you let your boyfriend sleep around?" Vince asked. "As your teacher...I don't think that's a healthy relationship to be in, Leia..." he said softly. He looked at Patrick. "Aren't you a little old to be playing games?"

Rio nodded. "Finally someone agrees with me!"

Patrick found himself clenching his hands into fists for some reason. "It was one girl," he explained to her teacher. Why he was having to defend himself to this man, he didn't know. "It is not as if I was sleeping around with every female I see. I did only so that I could be certain of something, and I finally have my answer."

"He did it to find out if he had feelings for her," Rio explained in a snippy attitude.

Vince sighed. "Who's bright idea was that?"

"Mine," Leia shrugged. "Seemed logical."

"You're sixteen. I'm sure at the time it did," he said softly. "But he is an adult who shouldn't have done something so foolish and stupid just because you said to do it. Are you going to let every guy walk all over you like that?"

"I don't see it as him walking over me," Leia said with narrow eyes.

"He fucked another girl while he was with you. It's cheating, Leia. And it's wrong. You gave him permission to do what he wanted." He took her hands. "Go back to America and have a normal teenage life."

Leia pulled her hands from him. "Don't tell me what to do." Of course...in the back of her mind, she was thinking this over. Maybe it really was a stupid idea...

"You should be ashamed of yourself," Vince said to Patrick. "You took advantage of her heart. You honestly can't say that what you did was right."

"What I did was not right. I never said that it was. However, what is done is done. I did it. I'll own up to that. I could say I'm sorry, but in the sense that you want me to say it....I can't. Not without lying. I care for Leia. Being with Lilith made me all too aware of that fact. While I was attracted to her, there was no emotional connection. Only physical."

Leia looked at him then at the others. "See? No damage done."

"I'm staying with Leia, Rio," Gabe finally said.

They looked at him. "What..why?"

"If she won't go home then I'm staying with her. I promised to look after her," Gabe said slowly.

Rio sat down. "I...don't want you to leave me..."

"You are welcome to stay as well, Rio," Leia said. "There is room."

"But school..."

"It's good to know Leia has someone looking after her," Vince said to Gabe.

"Listen here," Patrick said. His voice was calm, but strained. "I watch out for her. I protect her. I messed up, but don't you dare think for even a second that I would ever let anything like this happen again."

"It won't because I'll be there," Gabe said. Rio nodded. He was staying too.

Patrick took a deep breath. Fixing his glasses he turned and tossed his soda in the garbage can. "I'm glad that you will be here. Leia has missed you both terribly," he said with a smile. "If you'll excuse me." He gave them a small nod before disappearing down the hall. He didn't know why the way they were acting seemed to make him so upset. He wasn't the kind of person that was quick to anger, yet for some reason he felt his blood boiling.

"You guys couldn't be a little nicer?" Leia groaned.

"You and I made a pact before anyone else was in the picture. You said that if I felt you were fucking up that I should be there to make sure you turn out ok. You're fucking up with staying with someone who thinks it's ok to explore his options while saying he loves you. Relationships don't work like that. And I don't trust him with you. So until he proves worthy or you move on, I'm not moving from your side," Gabe said sternly.

"You know you are the only person in the world I trust completely...so I can't tell you to shut up..."

Patrick sat out in the waiting room. His eyes were closed and he seemed to be asleep. In reality he was simply trying to focus on other things so that he could calm down. It was working. Filling his thoughts with images of Leia was a nice little way to distract himself.

Leia got to go home the next day. She made a few phone calls to get Gabe and Rio's things sent to her house. She had come down with the flu and though she didn't want to, she wore a medical mask to keep from spreading her germs. Gabe and Rio started school the next day and Vince took off early from school to make it to Leia's to help tutor her. She sat on her bed laying back against the headboard while adjusting the mask on her face. Vince sat in front of her writing.

"Need to take a break?" he asked as she coughed lightly.

She shook her head. "No...just tired."

"I think a break would be good for her," Patrick said, standing in the doorway. He felt out of place as of late with everyone bustling about her trying to help her. He hadn't even gotten a chance to talk to her yet, and that irked him. This teacher of her's was taking up most of the time. He'd never seen Leia try so hard in school. While he was glad that she was actually trying, a part of him wished that she'd tried that hard or found it that interesting when he'd been trying to help her.

"I think we should call it a night. Get some rest," Vince said and packed up everything. "Tomorrow I'll come by early since it's the weekend. You seem more lively in the mornings."

She nodded. Waving to him, she watched him eye Patrick with a hard stare before showing himself out. "You really aren't a favorite around here," she smirked though he couldn't see it behind the mask.

"Trust me. There's no love lost on them either." Shutting the door, he locked it behind him. Walking over to her bed, he sat down. Pulling her close, he kissed her gently through her mask.

Leia was wide eyed as his lips pressed to the mask. She pushed him back. "Hey...easy. I'm sick. I wear the mask for a reason," she said. Turning her head, she coughed a few times.

"Please. I am not entirely worried about getting sick," he told her, taking her hand in his. "In fact. That is one of the least of my worries."

She scanned his eyes. "Something wrong?"

"Yes and no. First tell me where we stand after all of this has happened."

She stiffened and leaned back against the headboard. "That's really hard to say...Gabe and Rio think you are irresponsible for going along with sleeping with some other girl even though it was my idea. And...maybe they are right." Her eyes moved from his. "I mean, it's one thing to have thoughts about other women but to act on those thoughts...even though I said I was ok with it..." She took a deep breath then coughed some more. "I'm not entirely sure this won't happen again. What happens if some other girl comes along and catches your eye? Do I have to tell you it's ok to fuck her too to find out if you like her?" She shook her head and looked at him again. "You want me to open up more? Well...I feel like you should have refused to sleep with her and told me there was no chance you could feel for her like you said you feel for me. Maybe the saying is true. When you’re as young as me, you are so quick to believe when someone says they love you. I feel like it was a lie now."

His face was hard to read. Probably because he had run this conversation a thousand times within the confides of his own mind. He'd try to play out every single scenario he could, but there was very little one could do to predict human nature. "It was not a lie," he said, though he knew it would mean very little to her at this point. "I shouldn't have been so willing to be with her. Their accusations, as well as yours are justly given. I cannot promise to know what the future holds. Will I find myself attracted to another woman? Perhaps. However, I will not stray so long as we are together. The more I think about it, I realize that my hypocrisy knows no bounds. If our roles were reversed, I do not think that I would be so quick or eager to let you sleep with another man to see if you have feelings for him."

"This...changes so much," she said. "I want you to quite you job with Samuel...I don't want you to see her again, though I know I have very little control over what you do so I just have to suffer. As soon as she sees me in school...she will be raving about how she slept with you." Leia moved her hand to her forehead. She was getting hot and she was tired. Taking another deep breath she allowed her eyes to softened. "Now that I've had time to really think about all of it...you betrayed me, Mr. McClain. Even though I gave you permission and you believed I was ok with it...I guess I thought you would know that a piece of me would break if you actually went through with it. But you didn't know, did you? Or maybe you did and it just wasn't enough to keep you from wanting to feel her flesh." She pulled at her clothes. She could hear the boys opening their room door in the hallway. They were back from school. "Was it worth, Mr. McClain? Was she everything you imagined? Was fucking her as wonderful as you thought it would be?"

Gabe pulled at the knob on the door then knocked. "Leia, your door is locked? Why is it locked? Are you ok?'

"Give me just a minute," he said to Gabe. Looking down at her, he caressed her cheek. "No. My fantasies were more than she could ever live up to. In my fantasies, she was always like you; and no one could ever replace you."

He heard Gabe knock on the door again. "I will quit my job with Samuel. It is the least that I can do."

"I don't want to force you to do something like that. You don't owe me anything. And honestly, it's not like I trusted you to not do it. I only really trust Gabe," she said with a light shrugged. She started coughing.

"Open the door!" Gabe groaned.

"Just a minute you impatient bruit!"

"You wouldn't be forcing me, Leia. If that is what you want, I will do so of my own free will. I don't want to hurt you again."

She smirked behind the mask. "Don't make promises you can't keep and don't walk on glass around me because it's annoying. If it happens again then we will know...it just wasn't meant to be." She moved a few random strands of hair from her face that the bun on her head didn't hold. "I'm not giving you the ok to screw around, but I am saying I won't hate you if you do. I'll just move on."

He shook his head. "No walking around on glass. No screwing...unless its you."

She nodded. "Ok. Now I have a few questions." She sighed. "But I think I'm running a fever so I'll ask them later."

He nodded pressing his lips to her forehead. "Sleep. I'll be here when you wake."

"Let Gabe in before he breaks my door."

"No," he smirked. "I'm being selfish and having you all to myself right now."

"Then grabbed a wet rage and put on my forehead," she said as she laid down. Sweat was already covering her.

"Leia!!! Let me in!" Gabe yelled and started banging hard on the door.

He smirked and nodded. "I know how to take care of the sick and injured," he assured her. He went and wet a rag, coming back, he propped her up against him while he pressed the rag to her forehead. "Sorry Gabe. She's mine for a little while. You just do your homework."

Leia closed her eyes against her. "She better be alive when you come out!" Gabe warned and walked back to his room.

"I'm not a killer," he muttered against her neck.

It wasn't long before Leia feel asleep then woke hours later, long after her fever had broken. She looked up at Patrick and narrowed her eyes. "Have you been sitting there watching me sleep this whole time?"

"Yes, I have," he told her. Yawning, he stroked her to make certain that her fever had indeed broken. "How are you feeling?"

"Like crap," she admitted. "I find it a little creepy that you've been watching me so closely. Go to bed."

He shook his head. "I'm not too tired. I'll sleep soon enough. It's time to take your medicine." He crawled out from beneath her and went to get her medicine off the nightstand. Returning, he poured the liquid onto a spoon and held it out for her.

She sat up slowly. "You know, I'm young but I'm old enough to take my own medication," she said however she slipped the mask down to her neck and opened her mouth for the spoon.

He smiled and dipped the spoon in her mouth so that she could take her medicine. Once she had, he put everything back. "Now then. You slept through dinner. Do you want me to get you anything to eat? Soup?"

She shook her head as she put her mask back on and laid back down. "No it will just come back up."
