Chapter III:
Ritual of the Lady

"Only darkend innocence can bring her back."

January 26th, 1390

Swing left, blocked.
Swing right, blocked.
Then left again, blocked again.
Then finish him with a stab! Unfortunately that move caused Kiyams stick to go straight into the earth below
and the butt of the stick to smash into his nose sending him to the ground on his back.
"Well done Kiyam, atleast your fast enough for me to actually half to block you."
Saven extended his hand. Kiyam smirked and reached for it and got back to his feet.
"Well, that's probably the best I'm ever going to get."
"Perhaps, perhaps not. Well, it's time for you and May to practice that technique I taught you."
"Yes sir."
Kiyam and May lined up and extended their hands. It's been two months since they began their training,
and they learned how to use the power they trained so hard for. With this new technique, they've been
slowly but surely chiseling the boulder down to the size of a rock.
"Ready?"
The two clasped their hands together and began concentrating.
"I want this rock gone!"
Kiyam could feel the cool feeling of the energy starting to accumulate in his hand.
"Use all you got!"
They pulled their hands apart slowly and revealed a dark energy.
"Destroy it!"
They both threw the energy simultaneously at the rock. At first it went through the rock, then, like the Kra-eb two
months ago, slowly dissolved into nothingness.
Kiyam was exhausted, he had no idea on how Saven could repeatedly use such an ability. Suppose it's like they say,
'Pratice makes perfect.'
"Excellent work."
May collapsed.
"How.. Can you do this?"
Saven looked over torwards her.
"You wanted to learn how to do it."
"Yeah.. But.. But.."
She decided to give up, and save her much needed breath.
"Maybe we should go wash-up, eat, and rest up , yes?"

Three fifty, three fifty-one, lungs are burning, three fifty-two, three fifty-three, three fifty-four, can't take it much longer.
three fifty... Five... Kiyam pulled his head out of the water. It's been two months, and since then he's been able to
increase his lung capacity by nearly two minutes. He laid back on the edge of the spring and rested his head on
the ground. The spring he's in wasn't too far away from camp. Saven placed many rocks in between the spring
so May and him didn't see each other naked, but that didn't stop Kiyam from peeking a bit. Although he'd be ashamed to
admit it, he did start puberty not to long ago and has taken a sudden interest in May. Especially after he *accidentally*
saw her butt. He smiled and shook his head to get the dirty thought out of his mind. He climbed on the boulder on the
side of the spring and began waiting 'till he dried off. How long was Saven going to stay? He said he'd train them, but
they already know how to use the power.. So how long will he stay? Tomorrow? A week from now? Forever?
Kiyam had hoped so, Saven felt like an older brother to him.. Yet when he thought about it, he really knew nothing of
Saven. Kiyam looked over and heard some rocks fall in the spring, followed by a big splash on Mays side of the
spring.. Wait.. Was she spying on him? Kiyam immediately grew red and jumped off the rock and started putting his cloths
on. Why would she do THAT?! She's a girl! He then started running back to camp but then came to a walk halfway there.
"Why would she spy on me? Was she trying to see me naked? I can't believe she'd do that."
Kiyam never realized his own hypocrisy and was nearly at the camp until when heard Saven talking, he silently crept behind a tree
and listened in.
"Don't worry about what I'm doing here. What? No she isn't, how is it possible that a little girl is what we're looking for?"
Frustration could be seen all over his face.
"I'm not insulting your intelligence old man, just tell me how something so small can have such a great power?
... Well, that sounds logical. Yeah. Don't worry, I'll get it done! Just shut-up and listen!"
Seeing Saven so frustrated and angry is something new to Kiyam, normally he is a calm and collected character.
"Fine. Don't worry, I'm not like you after all. I don't fail. Bye."
Saven gave a deep sigh. Kiyam decided now would be a time to leave and he took one step back torwards the spring when..
"Who is there?"
Saven's blade being drawn from it's sheath could be heard. Kiyam revealed himself.
"It's just me sir."
"Hm."
Kiyam withdrew his blade and gave Kiyam an annoyed look.
"What did I say about calling me 'sir'?"
"Oh! Sor-.. Saven."
Saven sighed out of disappointment. Kiyam nearly broke a second rule of his teachings. Moments of akward silence passed.
"Kiyam, I have a special task for you. I've place a special rock in this very forest. First thing in the morning, I want you to find
it, ok?"
"Yeah, I can find it. First thing in the morning."
"Well, I certainly hope you can."
Saven gave out a sigh and laid down. Kiyam shortly followed when May arrived back at the camp. You could tell by the look
in her eyes that she was guilty of something, but Kiyam decided to spare her of the embarrassment. Plus he was too tired.

There was the smell of fresh blood, then a ball of blood. A light started to shine in it, until a darkness began to cover the ball
and made it completely dark. What's that noise? A scream.. Make it stop.. Getting louder, and louder. Why won't it stop?
Is it asking for help? What does it need? It's hurting my ears! Make it STOP!
Kiyam woke up sweating, he looked around in confusion and fear. It was dusk. During his scanning of the area, it could be
noted that Saven was missing. Kiyam got up and decided that Saven may be at the springs, so he headed that way.
The springs were quite misty in the morning, and just as Kiyam figured, Saven was seen sitting down with his sword inbetween
his legs and resting his chin upon it's hilt. Kiyam walked torwards him.
"Saven? Are you alright?"
Saven had a look of deep sadness on his face, Kiyam arrived infront of his teacher and just stood there.
"Kiyam?""Yeah?"
"Remember.. Two months ago, May asked me if life could be recreated with this power?"
"Kind of.."
"Well.. Only one person tried it. It took their life. Don't be as foolish as that person, and try it. Cheating death... Is impossible."
"Ok.. Uh.. Is there a reason why your telling me this?"
Saven did a half-laugh.
"No, I guess not."
Saven stood up.
"Hm. Weren't you supposed to go find a rock?
"Oh yeah! Sorry Saven! I nearly forgot!"
Kiyam turned around and took one step when he felt a crushing blow to his back, he fell to the ground and everything went black.
He felt.. Tears falling on him. One on his cheek, his back, his head.. Then a lot more tears started falling. Almost felt like.. Rain.
Kiyam opened his eyes, it was dark and raining. He surveyed the area and realized he was still at the springs. He stood up.
"Saven?"
"...May?"
He started getting scared, he was all alone. There was nobody.
"SAVEN!?"
"MAY!?"
No response. He fell to his knees with a blank look in his eye. Silent thunder could be heard along with a few lightnings strikes
that follow. Kiyam turned around, and found to his horror... A Spring full of blood. A scream echoed deep in the forest, where the
church ruins were located. Without heisitation, Kiyam sprinted torwards the scream. What was going on? Where is Saven?
Was that May? The Spring.. How.. How could it be filled with blood? Kiyam stumbled over a fallen log and fell on the soft mud. The
cold rain falling on his face, he felt like he had been defeated. He got up and saw a stick, he'd better take it... Just in case.
Kiyam resumed his run to the church.

Kiyam arrived at the old church. Nothing remained but some burnt wood and moldy, stone flooring and stone altar. He heard another
scream, this one sounded like it was full of agony and pain. It came from the ground. Kiyam looked at the altar, it didn't take two
sense to know that it was the entrance to underground. He promptly ran up to it, and pressed all his weight against it and revealed a secret
passageway. He started running down it. The hallway the stairs lead to had torchs aligned on both sides, the stone the structure was made
of glowed yellow. Kiyam came to an old door with a rusted knob. He swallowed, his fear showed by his heisitation to open it. This wasn't supposed to happen, he had no idea what was going on. He was scared, wet, muddy, and alone. Kiyam took a deep breath and pushed the door open. Kiyam fell to his knees, he couldn't believe what was happening. May's body laid in the center of the room, crimson blood spewed from underneath her.
"M-May?"
And the worst part of all...
"You killed her.. Didn't you? ... Saven."
Standing over her body, with a blade proven guilty with the blood it was covered in, was Saven. Hot tears were streaming down Kiyams face.
"Saven?! How could you? Wasn't she like a daughter to you? HUH!?"
"..."
"Huh? Answer me!"
"I'm sorry Kiyam..."
Saven pulled a cloth from his black jacket and wiped Mays blood from his sword.
"Sorry? Sorry! That's all you can say?"
"Only darkend innocence can bring her back."
"Bring who back!?"
"Well, why would it matter to you? You won't live long enough to know."
Saven charged at Kiyam with his blade raised to kill, Kiyam got to his feet and used his stick has defense. Needless to say the blade chopped
straight through the makeshift sword and nearly cut Kiyam. Kiyam rolled out of the way and started running torwards a wall and took a sharp turn left. He heard a clank noise and turned around to check Saven status. Saven apparently stabbed at Kiyam but missed when he turned at the blade went inside of the wall. Saven let go of his blade and started walking torwards Kiyam. Kiyam stood his ground in fear. Saven stopped.
"I'm sorry Kiyam.. But I told there would be consequences!"
Saven raised his hand, dark matter started collecting in his hand. Saven smiled and projected the energy torwards him.
Don't let it end this way! You still have so much more to do! BLOCK IT!
"Right."
Kiyam held out his hands and a black sheiled appeared. A bright flash blinded the two on impact, but Kiyams shield was only enough to nullify the attack and himself flying to the wall and knocked him unconcious. Saven ripped the blade out of the wall and walked torwards Kiyam and raised his sword.
"..."
He stopped himself.
"Maybe keeping you alive.. Would prove useful..."

Kiyam awoke...
"Owww.. W-Where am I?"
He looked over and saw May's body and everything came back to him.
"No! May!"
Many thoughts came to his mind, there had to be a way. To.. Bring her back. In a desperate attempt Kiyam ran to her. And concentrated.
Energy started collecting in his hand and placed them on her body.
"May.. I'll bring you back. I promise!"
A surge of energy erupted and he could feel himself getting weak, and fast. He felt cold.. Could, he be dying? His head was spinning, all train
thought was gone. Everything went black. Everything shut-down. He couldn't feel anything...
