Prince Of Tennis Fan Fiction ❯ The Right Motivation ❯ New Captain is... ( Chapter 2 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Thank you for the reviews! I'll try my best to update ASAP, but yeah, school, stress and all that good stuff won't help me so please bear with me. I'll also try to get the Japanese translation and grammer correct. I didn't think that it would be a big deal, but I'll try my best to fix it. Thank You, I hope you enjoy this chapter too.

New captain is…

The weekend was over and everyone had to go back to school. Sakuno was nervous and excited. She had three small bags of treats in one bag for Fuji, Eiji and Tomoka. Her grandma had asked her to go early and give some packages to Tezuka and the new girl's team captain, if she could find them, if not, she gave her the keys to her office. As she walked her thought drifted. `I wonder who our new captain.' “Kiruha-senpai…Kiruha-senpai…” `I wonder if…no, it can't be.' Suddenly she bumped into someone. It was Oishi, he caught her before she hit the ground.
“Ah, gomen nasai, Oishi-senpai. I should have been more careful.” (gomen nasai: I'm sorry.) She quickly pulled away and bowed for her stupidity.
“It's okay, just be more careful next time.” He was about to leave, but Sakuno stopped him. “Ano…” (Ano: Um… or excuse me…)
“Nani, Ryusaki-san?” (Nani: what)
“Do you know where I might find Tezuka-senpai?”
“Tezuka? He's probably out in the courts. Why? Is everything okay?” He looked at her worried.
“Hai, it's just, obba-chan wanted me to delivery this to him.” Holding up the packet in her hand. He noticed two. (Obba-chan: grandma)
“Who's the other one for?”
“Oh, this one is for the new captain, but I need to search for her.” She smiled, he smiled down at her.
“I'll take you to the courts.”
“Ah, daijoubu desu. I don't want to bother. You probably had someplace to go, didn't you?” He nodded and said, “The courts, I was just about to meet Tezuka there.” (Daijoubu desu: It's alright.)
“Oh, thank you very much Oishi-senpai.”
When they got to the court, everyone was practicing. Her eyes wonders and it landed on Ryoma. She quickly turned her head away, she didn't want to see him after what he had said to her in the past. He was rallying with Momo. Oishi and Sakuno walked up to Tezuka. He turned to Oishi then down to Sakuno. “Did you need something?” He said in his usual commanding tone. She kind of felt intimidated, but still handed the packet to him. “From Ryusaki-sensei?”
“Hai.” (Yes)
“Arigatou.” (Arigatou: Thank you)
“Shitsureshimasu.” She bowed and walked out. (I'll be leaving now or excuse me. I don't' know how the translate this one, but it's close.)
“Tezuka, you should talk softer to Ryusaki-san.” Oishi lightly scolded. Tezuka raised both eyebrows. Eiji came up to them.
“Yeah Tezuka, you should be more nicer!” He turned to see her walking. “Kawaiiso, Ryusaki-chan.” (Kawaiiso Ryusaki-chan: Poor Ryusaki-chan)
“Kikumaru, 10 laps.”
“HI DOI, TEZUKA!!” (Hi Doi: you're so cruel.)
“Do you want 20?”
“Hmph.” He went out and started running. Sakuno wasn't far so he caught up with her and jogged beside her as she walked. “Ohayo Ryusaki-chan!”
“Ah, ohayo gozaimasu, Kikumaru-senpai.” (Ohayo gozaimasu: good morning<formal>)
“I'm sorry Tezuka scared you. He's such a meanie.” Sakuno giggled. Then she remembered. “Ano…”
“Hm.” She dug in her bag and took out a cutely wrapped bag of treats.
“Here.” Eiji eyes brightened. “Waa, for me?” He smiled at her, which caused her to blush. “H-h-hai, i-i-it's a thank you…for that night.”
“Waa, arigatou.” He gave her a big bear hug. “From now on I'm going to call you Suka-chan. It sounds good huh?” She giggled and nodded. “And you can call me, Eiji.”
“Ah, but…”
“No buts, or senpai is going to be sad.” He made a fake pouty face. They were almost at the end of the tennis court fence. “O-okay, Eiji. Could you give this one to Fuji-senpai?” She handed him another one. He nodded. “I gotta turn here. Bye bye Suka-chan, nya!” He waved, but she bowed. “Hey, no bowing either, we're pals, nya!” She smiled and waved.
After his 10 laps, he entered the tennis court with a cat grin. The regulars notice this. “Why is Kikumaru-senpai so happy?” Eiji ran up to Fuji. “Fu~ji! Guess what Suka-chan made us?!” Fuji looked up and saw a cutely wrapped treat presented to him. He smiled, “Kawaiine.” (Kawaiine: how cute. Sort of)
“Desho nya!” Eiji set it nicely into his racket bag. (Desho: right?)
“De, why did she do this for us?”
“Oh, Suka-chan said it's a thank you gift for that night.” Fuji nodded.
“Suka-chan ka…kawaii.”
“Eh, Fu~ji I can only call her that, don't go stealing!” Fuji just chuckled. Momoshiro came up to them and looked at the bag of treats in Fuji's hand. “Waa, did she make those by hand?”
“She probably did, she's good at baking.” Fuji stated matter-of-factly.
“Now that I think about it, she does make awesome cakes, ne Echizen?” Ryoma tried to act like he didn't care, but in his heart there was a small nagging feeling he couldn't really ignore. “Ma ne.”(Ma ne: maybe) Momoshiro saw right through Ryoma and slyly grinned. He put him in a headlock. “You wish you were the one that received it, huh?” Echizen tried to pry away from Momoshiro.
“Iydesuyo Momo-senpai.” Was all he said. He pried himself off and went back to practicing.
Sakuno was still searching for the new team captain. Her head turned this way and that way, but she couldn't find who she was looking for.
“Ohayo Sakuno!” she turned around.
“Ah Tomo-chan, ohayo.”
“Who are you looking for?”
“Oh the new tennis captain for the girls.”
“Oh~! I'll help you!” she smiled.
“Arigatou Tomo-chan. Oh here I made these yesterday.” Sakuno gave her a bag of treats. Tomoka's eyes brightened and gave Sakuno a big hug.
“Arigatou Sakuno!”
“Iyo, ikuyo Tomo-chan.” And so they searched around the tennis court, but still they couldn't find her.(Iyo, ikuyo: That's alright, let's go.)
Their last spot they looked was the basketball courts. They saw someone shooting baskets all by herself. Sakuno went up to her from the back.
“Ano…” She turned around and as she did Sakuno and Tomoka recognized who it was. “Kiruha-senpai?!” She smiled.
“Ohayo futari-tomo.” (Good morning both of you.) She had layered olive green hair shoulder length tied to the back, deep chocolate eyes, and was a head and a half taller than Sakuno and Tomoka. “What are you doing here?” Kiruha set the basketball down beside her and hugged them both. “Is that how you greet your old buchou?” She pulled back a little. “You guys could at least give me a hug.” She noticed that Sakuno had a package with her name on it. “That must be for me?” Sakuno's eyes widened, “Eh! So you're our new tennis buchou?!” Kiruha smiled and nodded.
“You two are on the team, right?”
“I am, but Tomo-chan isn't.”
“Why not, Tomo-chan?”
“I have to baby-sit my brothers and sisters.” The new buchou put a hand under her chin. “Oh yeah, that's the reason you quite my team early also. That's a shame, I wanted it to be like old time.” She turned her head to the basket. “Hey we have time, why don't we play a little game of 2 against 1, first to get to 10pts.” Sakuno and Tomoka's face brightened and nodded. “But if you lose, then you two have to give me 5 laps around this court.”
“Awww…” They both said in unison.
“I knew there was a catch to this game.” Tomoka crossed her arms.
“Like old times for sure.” Sakuno dropped her shoulders.
“What if we win, buchou?”
“Then I'll run double.”
“Alright, we better win Sakuno!” She nodded. They put their stuff under basket, against the pole and got into position. “Let's see if you two rusted or not.”
Morning tennis practice was over and everyone went their own ways. Eiji, Momoshiro and Fuji were the last ones the leave their lockers. They were passing by and saw Sakuno, Tomoka and another girl, playing basketball. “They look like they're having fun, ne Eiji, Momo?” Fuji smiled.
“I wanna play with them.” Momoshiro ran towards the courts. Eiji and Fuji followed. “I wonder who she is nya?”
“We'll find out.” When they got to the court, they saw Sakuno in the air, making a basket swish. “Yay Sakuno! We're getting close to buchou!”
“Buchou?!” Kiruha, Tomoka and Sakuno turned towards the voices. It was the 3 boys. “Waaa, that was such a great shot Suka-chan nya!”
“Yeah Sakuno, that was a great shot, you never told me you played basketball.” She blushed. “It was nothing, anyone can shot a basket.” Kiruha smiled. `Always the modest one.' “Saa saa, you're wasting time, I'm one point from winning you two and your basket is wide open.” Sakuno and Tomoka looked at each other then ran after Kiruha, but unfortunately she was already at the basket and made the basket. “Awww~.” The guys were confused.
“Alright, 5 laps around the court lets go.”
“We were soooo close, Sakuno!!”
“But then again it's buchou.” Then they started there laps and Kiruha watched them with her arms crossed. “She's just like Tezuka!”
“Kiruha use to be buchou of the basketball team at her old school.”
“Momo, you know her?”
“Yeah she's in my class, but I've only talked to her a few times. She's nice, but she doesn't seem like much of a sports person.” She heard them and walked over to them. “Momoshiro-kun, is your morning practice over?” He nodded.
“Why are you making them run?”
“Yeah, and how do you know them?”
“How dare you make Suka-chan run nya!?!” She raised an eyebrow.
”Suka-chan?” She turned to Momoshiro. “Dare?” (Who are they?)
“Ah, wari wari, this is Fuji-senpai and Kikumaru-senpai.” (Wari wari; Sorry sorry <slang>)
“Oh.” She bowed to her senpais, then answered their questions.
“What were your questions again and please one at a time, I'm kind of slow.” She said, looking at the pair running once every 5 seconds. It didn't take long for them to finish. “Why are you making them run?”
“Because they lost to me in a 10pt game.”
“How do you know them?” Fuji asked this question as Sakuno and Tomoka stood next to her. “She use to be our buchou at our old school.” Tomoka answered.
“Oh~.”
“You two, go wash your faces.”
“Hai.” Then they ran off laughing. She smiled. “So you're the new tennis buchou for the girls.” Fuji stated. “Hai.”
“WHAT!?” Momo exclaimed. Kiruha covered her ears.
“I like to play other sports too, not only basketball Momoshiro, taku.” She pouted.
“De, what other sports do you play?”
“I play basketball, tennis and soccer, but I'm not that good at soccer.”
“If Ryusaki-sensei asked you to be buchou, you must be pretty good at tennis, ne?” Kiruha shook her head. “I don't know about that.”
“Why you do say that?”
“Because…” DING DONG DANG! “Oh there's the bell. Well we'll go on ahead.” Fuji and Eiji waved bye as Sakuno and Tomoka ran towards their stuff. Momo waved but Kiruha bowed slightly. The two girls said bye and headed to class. “Meet me at the basketball courts you two!”
“Hai buchou!” then they ran off. She turned to Momoshiro.
“Let's get to class before Mr. Terada yells at us for being late.” He nodded and set off. “Hey, can I come and play?”
“Sure.”
“Can I bring friends along too?”
“Anyone's welcome, if they want to suffer the consequences of losing to me.” She smiled. Momo looked uneasy.
“Your scary.” She stuck out her tongue.
From the window of the second floor classroom, above the basketball courts. Tezuka had been watching. Fuji came up from behind him.
“That's the new buchou for the girls' tennis team.” Tezuka bluntly stated. Fuji nodded. “She use to be buchou for a basketball team back at her old school. Ryusaki-sensei requested her.”
“She's a sophomore.”
“Mmm, omoshiyoina.” (How fun.)
“Mmm?” Tezuka shifted his gaze to Fuji.
“I wonder how our girls on the team will react.” His blue eyes gazed out the window with his casual smile.
“Ah.” They all went to their respective seats and the teacher walked in.
