[ P - Pre-Teen ]

"Gierin, since you're the treasure hunter, you should go find the chaos emeralds."Tails said.

"What?! That's not fair, you know I'm a terrible treasure hunter, SO WHY DO I HAVE TO DO
IT?!!"Gierin exclaimed.

"Trust me, you can do it. It's in your blood."

So Gierin went to find the closest chaos emerald, the radar Tails had built wasn't a great help
until it caught a signal, it was very strong. As Gierin followed the signal, she bumped into
someone. It was the hedgehog who was responsible for the theft of the master emerald.

"Hey, where is my dad's emerald?!"Gierin exclaimed.

"I don't have it."the stranger replied.

Gierin prepared to fight, she threw a punch at the thief, she almost lost her footing. Gierin tried
again, her opponent passed out and fell over, Gierin caught her just in time.

"Jeez, you need some help."Gierin said.

Gierin flew the thief back to South Island, she explained everything that happened. Sonic put her
in a bedroom, covered her with a blanket and left the room. Later, Burlow came into the room,
he looked down at the stranger and remembered where he'd seen her before. He sat down and
started to caress her cheek, Burlow had never seen anything so beautiful. He found her quite
unusual at the same time though, she was black with red highlights and also wore black clothing
to match her silky fur.

"She's so perfect, unlike me."Burlow thought, thinking about his messy, untidy fur. He too was
black but had blue highlights, his fur wasn't silky in any way, it was just messy and spread in
every direction and was rather rough and hard. Burlow continued to caress her on the cheek,
thinking about how beautiful and perfect this girl was.

"She probably has a beautiful pair of eyes to go with that face of her's."Burlow thought.

Burlow stayed beside her for a long time, he couldn't keep his eyes off her. He began to feel silly
about liking her.

"Why would she ever want to be my girlfriend? Besides, with a face as beautiful as her's, she's
probably already got a boyfriend. I'm nothing special."Burlow thought, but he was wrong. Maria
didn't and never had a boyfriend, she never knew anybody she loved that much accept Shadow
but she only loved him as a father.





Soon, Maria woke up slowly. Burlow noticed she was awake.

"Dad, Gierin, Tails, Knuckles. Get in here, she's awake!"Burlow yelled.

Everybody entered the room.

"Hi, I'm Burlow."

"Uh, I'm Maria."

"This is my dad, Sonic, and these are my friends."Burlow said.

"Pleased to meet ya'."Sonic said, shaking Maria's hand.

"Gierin,"Burlow continued.

"G'day, mate."Gierin said in her casual Australian accent.

"Knuckles,"

"Hi, I Gierin's father."

"And Tails."

"Hi, Maria."

"Wait, I need to get that chaos emerald to Dr. Eggman."Maria said as she stumbled to her feet
and ran to the door, Burlow caught her arm.

"You're not going anywhere until you tell us what's going on."Burlow said sternly.

"Alright, I'll tell you."Maria said.

Maria explained what happened.

"We'll help you if you give us the master emerald, okay?"Burlow asked.

"Fine."Maria replied.
