Note: *Hides behind desk* Please don't kill me! Don't worry, my friend, Rick, gave me part of the idea, I just did the rest. Amazing what you can think of when playing video games… Oh! I just remembered! At the start of every chapter, I'm going to try to have a quote, joke, or riddle. Alright, en-*is hit on the head with frying pan*

You never know how much you love someone, until they're gone.

Chapter 4
Hidden Love

After Mario and Luigi found Peach and Daisy, Mario made sure she would be ok long enough to find a hospital. They left the volcano, Mario and Luigi carrying Zelda. “Whata did ya say her name was?” Mario asked Peach. “We heard the man call her Zelda.” Peach replied. “And she called him Link.” Daisy said. As they walked on, they saw a woman with long red hair driving a carriage. “Hello! Could you help us?” Peach asked. “Well, sure! What is…it…?” She trailed off when she saw Zelda. “Princess…” She whispered. “Princess!” She said as she jumped out of the carriage. “We need your help to find a doctor.” Daisy told her. “Lake Hylia isn't to far from here, there's a doctor there. She got into the back of the carriage and moved some things around. “It's small, but it should do until we get to Lake Hylia.” She said as she motioned to the back of the carriage. She took Zelda and laid her across the bench in the front. “I'm Malon by the way, who are you?” Malon asked. “I'm Peach; this is Daisy, Luigi, and my husband, Mario.” Peach motioned to each person as she said their name. “Where are you from? You can't be from around here.” Malon asked. “Peach and I rule Mushroom Kingdom together.” Daisy told her. “We're best friends.” Peach said. “Why don't you rule with your husbands?” Malon asked. “Um, they never really were, `king' material…” Daisy said while looking over at Mario and Luigi who were laughing hysterically about something. Malon sweat dropped saying “Uh huh…” After the guys were done laughing, Malon asked “How did this happen to our Princess. Peach and Daisy suddenly looked sad. Mario and Luigi also wanted to know. “Well, Peach brought us here on vacation…” Daisy started.

“…then his arm was glowing purple and he punched him, after that he collapsed. But…” Peach couldn't go on. “But… the man, he fell off the ledge… into the lava… we think his name was Link.” Daisy finished. After hearing this, the carriage stopped dead. “L-link? H-he's… he's… g-gone?” she asked. `Oh no, she knew him…' Peach and Daisy thought. “Mmm hmm…” was all they could get out. All seemed sad, even the horse looked sad. “What's Hyrule going to do now?” Malon whispered. The carriage started moving again, but everything still seemed sad. It seemed as if a decade had passed when they finally got to the doctor, for no one had spoken since the subject on Link came up. Malon went and knocked on the door. Then a very grumpy doctor came. What?! What is it? Do you have any idea what time it is? You don't look hurt!” Malon motioned toward Zelda who was still unconscious on the bench. He gasped, but under his breath he said “oh, again…”

“She's not in the best shape, her left arm is broken, right leg broken, and a few ribs too. Mind explaining how this happened?” Peach and Daisy sighed. `Here we go again…' they thought as they retold the story to the doctor. When they were done he was standing there, mouth hanging open, staring at them in disbelief. Luigi waved a hand in front of his face and woke him out of his daze. “What?! This is just a joke! A HORRIBLE JOKE! Right?! What is Hyrule going to do?!...” Malon pushed him out as he continued his outrage. Everyone else sweat dropped. They all walked to the bed where Zelda was laying.

Zelda heard voices. Voices of people she never heard before. The first one was very…um, airy and dainty. Defiantly a woman's. Two were Italian, and extremely hard to tell apart. Those two belonged to men. The last one was also a woman's. But it was a bit, `sportier' than the other. “Do you think she'll be ok?” the first woman asked. “I hope so.” One of the men said. Zelda realized that her arm and leg hurt, her ribs too, well EVERYTHING hurt. She groaned in pain and annoyance as she realized someone must have taken her to a doctor. She opened her eyes and saw four people looking at her. The men were wearing overalls and a red and green shirt with a cap to match. They were, well, short and both had a mustache. On her other side, there were two women. One had on a pink dress and her blonde hair up in a ponytail. The other had a yellow dress, similar in style, and had her brown hair resting on her shoulders. Both had crowns on top of their heads. `Princesses?' Zelda thought. “Are you ok?” the man with the green cap asked. “We were worried.” Both of the princesses said. Zelda nodded then asked “Not to be rude, but who are you, do I know you?” “Oh sorry, I'm Peach.” The woman in pink said. “I'm Daisy.” The other woman said. “I'm Luigi.” The man with the green cap said. “I'm Mario.” The man with the red cap said. “I'm Zelda, did you all take me here” Zelda asked. “Well, we had some help from a lady named Malon.” Daisy said. “Malon…” Zelda said to herself. Hearing her name made Zelda think of Link. Zelda gasped. “Where's Link?!” She asked just as Malon and the doctor reentered the room. “Where is he?!” she asked again, making to get up. But, alas, her attempt failed because of her broken leg. Everyone looked sad. Everyone left except Peach and Daisy. “I'll go get it.” Daisy said before going out the door. “What's going on?” Zelda asked. Peach sighed, not wanting to tell Zelda the truth. “H-h-he…” Peach sighed again. “I'm so sorry, but he's gone…” Peach said. “G-gone…you d-don't mean…” Peach nodded as Daisy walked in. “We saw him fall over the ledge ourselves…this is all that's left.” Daisy said sadly as she handed Zelda a sword that had been wiped off, but there was still blood on it. “Zelda stared at her messy reflection in the sword, the look of disbelief etched on her face. “He…he's dead.” Peach said facing the floor. “Dead? Link. D-dead?” Zelda asked no one. "HE CAN'T BE DEAD!" "I'm sorry, but he's gone." "HE WOULDN'T DIE LIKE THAT!" She then broke down sobbing. "If only I could have saved him!" she sobbed. Peach and Daisy went over to comfort her. “We also found this…” Daisy said as she handed Zelda a green hat. “P-please…j-just leave…” Zelda choked out staring at the hat. They nodded and left. Zelda continued to sob uncontrollably. With each sob, if felt like her heart was being crushed. Zelda hated not being with Link, but she always knew he'd be back. Now, she knew she'd never get to see his face again. Never get to hear him say her name, or play the orcanica. Never anything anymore. She felt like a part of her was missing. “Why do I feel like this?” she asked her self after she got control. Tears were still running down her face and she was sniffling. `Without Link, I feel incomplete. There's only one answer…' “I love him…” Zelda said in realization. “I love Link, and he won't ever know it…” she said as she started crying into his hat. “I know it now.” Someone said. Zelda looked up from the hat, still crying, to see none other than Link. Zelda stared at him. “L-link?” Zelda asked, not believing what she saw. Link nodded. “Link!” Zelda yelled as she got up but, yelped in pain and started to fall before Link caught her. He took her to the bed and sat down with her. She cried into his chest as he rubbed her back. “L-link, I th-thought y-you were g-g-gone…” she cried. “She soon calmed down but silent tears of joy were running down her cheeks. “How? How are you here?” Zelda asked. Link shrugged. “All I know is that I was wishing I could teleport like you, and then I just ended up in my house. I had teleported. Then, I just wanted to be where you were, and here I am.” Link smiled as he said this. Zelda gasped as she remembered. “I gave the last of my power to you before I was knocked out. It was enough for two teleports.” Zelda told him as a few more tears fell down her face. Link wiped away her tears then cupped her face in his hands. “Did you mean that?” Link asked. Zelda was confused. “Mean what?” she asked. “Did you mean that you love me?” Link asked. Zelda blushed. “Y-yes.” She said. Link blushed too as he said “I…I love you, too.” He then brought his hand under her chin and pulled her face to his as he leaned in closer. Zelda brought her uninjured arm around Link's neck as their lips met. Link put his other arm around Zelda's waist. Link nibbled Zelda's lip, asking for entrance, which she gave him. Their tongues wandered each other's mouths, exploring every bit. Malon walked in, unnoticed by the two who continued kissing. Her mouth was hanging open from shock, Link was supposed to be dead. Then, she turned red, seeing what was going on. “I'll just leave you two alone…” She said as she left, still unnoticed by the two. They finally stopped for air, looking into each other's eyes. “I love you, Zelda.” The words Zelda loved and always wanted to hear from Link. “I love you, too.” She said as she rested her head against his chest. Link's arms wrapped around her waist and they just stayed in each other's embrace. They both felt complete.
