My head was throbbing. Like a three-hundred pound man was pounding on my skull, trying to crack it open and see what was inside… Needless to say, the sensation wasn't a pleasant one.

 

Lifting my eyelids was like dragging a china cup over sandpaper. This excruciating feeling was exacerbated by the piercing brightness of the fluorescents that hummed continuously above my bed.

 

“Where am I?” I wondered. I went to wrack my brain for answers… but then I discovered there was nothing there. Nothing. My mind was gone.

 

That was when I started to scream.
