CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Marik and Ishizu had been watching the duel, and they were not in least bit please with Max's cheating, and making a fool of them in their tournament.
Max was never even invited to partake in the tournament in the first place either. Marik and Ishizu knew he and his gang snuck their way. in by cheating other duelists from the Key Fragments.
“If there is one thing we will not tolerate, other than Mykan and Sabrina's marriage… it is basic depiction.” Ishizu said deeply.
“Sister…” Marik said. “We shall deal with him, but let wait until the duel ends first. I'm curious to see how things will turn out.”
Back to the duel…
SCORE:(Alex: 575 / Max: 1763)
Goon-one: “Hu, hu, hu… just look at da boss kick this pipsqueak's butt.”
Goon-Two: “Nee, hee, hee… yeah, at his rate we'll be up in dat castle in no time.”
Max: “Come on, Twerp. Nothin' that you draws' going to help you out this time.”
Alex: “I'll throw a monster in defense mode, and I'll activate MONTSER REBORN so I can bring back my Yellow Spy-Girl so she also can defend me and end my turn.”
Max's thoughts: “Hmm. It doesn't matter… with my Barrel Dragon still out, I'll still steamroll you out, but while I'm at it… I think I'll go ahead and make things a little tougher.”
(Draws)
Max: “My turn now, and I'm throwin' down POT OF GREED so I can draw twice more.”
(Draws)
“Now I'll throw down this Magic-card. Go, MAGNET CIRCLE LV2!!”
“Now I can summon one Level-two or lower Machine from my hand, and now I'll throw down another COST DOWN card, so I can degrade the monsters in my hand again!”
“Now I'll sacrifice the monster I got to summon my SLOT MACHINE in attack mode.”
(Alex: 2000 / Def: 2300)
Max: “Now then… let's give my dragon another toss, and wipe you out for good twerp.”
Alex: “GRR!!”
Clover: “Awe, man… if Alex loses this coin toss, she's history.”
Mykan's thought's: “She's not going to lose… Max is. His cheating stops here!”
(Millennium Necklace Glows)
Sabrina (whispers): “Hmm? Mykan what are you--?”
Mykan(whispers): “Shh… trust me.”
Max: “Here goes, and I'm callin'-- Wha'?--”
(He misses his flip and the coin falls down and rolls down through a crack in the pavement.)
Max's thoughts: “Hey… what's going on?! What happened?”
Alex: “Huh? What's up with him?”
(Max looks everywhere but can't find the coin)
Max thoughts: “Awe! Why now? I was just about to win this!”
Alex: “Hey! Are you going to flip or what?!”
Max: “GRR!! Hmm. You know what, Since I'm such a nice guy, I won't flip this turn, but I also won't have to. My two monster can Easily take out your defense no sweat!”
“Slot Machine Attack the face-down card. PLASMA LASER-CANNON!”
(Defense monster destroyed)
“Your turn Barrel Dragon. Blow that Spy-chick to bits. PROTON BLAST!!”
(Atk: 2600) VS (Def: 2000)
“Ha, ha, ha! Like a house of cards. Now I'll throw on card face-down, and call it quits. Now go ahead and make your move Twerp. I promise you, it'll be your last.”
(Alex looks down at her cards)
Alex's thoughts: “Hmm. I could throw out a monster and try to destroy Max's Slot Machine, but then he'd just turn around and fight me back with dragon, with or without his coin toss.”
“Even my most favorite card of all… the Red-Eyes Black Dragon, won't stand a chance…”
(Looks at her deck)
“Or can it? Well… there only one way to find out. Here goes nothing. Heart of the cards… don't fail me now.”
(Draws)
“Hmm?”
Sam: “Whoa… check out the grin on Alex's face. I think she's got something!”
Alex: “I'll lay one card Face-down, and I'll throw down this Trap-card A RIVAL APPEARS!”
Max: “What's that thing do?”
Alex: “It's easy… I select a monster on your side of the field and then special summon a monster with same level from my hand.”
Max: “Say what?”
Alex: “So, I'll choose your Barrel Dragon with it's level of seven. Now I can summon a Dragon of my own. RED-EYES BLACK DRAGON, in attack mode!”
(Atk:2400 / Def: 2000)
“And that'll do it for me.”
Sabrina: “Why did Alex not Attack on this turn? She could have easily wiped out the Max's Slot Machine.”
Mykan: “Well let's not get too hasty. I think Alex knows what she doing.”
Clover: “We hope!”
Max: “That Red-Eyes may be your most favorite card of all, Twerp… but it's still no match for this kind of Fire-power. Heh, heh, heh!”
(Draws)
“Say bye-bye, to your prized possession. Barrel Dragon, PROTON BLAST-ATTACK!!”
(Atk:2600) VS (Atk: 2400)
Alex: “Not so fast! Now I can use my face-down card. It's a little something called COPY-CAT.” (Rules fudged)
“It lets me Copy any card that you've ever used in this match… and I choose to Copy, METAL MORPH!!”
(Atk:2700 / Def: 2300)
“Now that he's a lot stronger, your weaker attack will send that Machine of yours packing, and your life points take a hit too.”
(Barrel Dragon, Destroyed.)

Max: “You runt! Look what you just did to my Dragon!”
Alex: “Oh, yeah? Well guess what hotshot, I'm not done yet. See, I do love the Red-Eyes
Black Dragon a lot, and I've studied every single tip or strategy there is about him.”
“So now I'll offer him and your Metal Morph to the graveyard, and bring out a totally new kind of Red-Eyes.”
(Red-eyes turns Metal)
“Now My Red-Eyes Black Dragon is a RED-EYES BLACK METAL DRAGON. This makes him even stronger than before, and gives him a shiny new look too.”
(Atk:2800 / Def: 2400)
“Now, Red-Eyes, task out that Slot Machine! FLASH-FLARE-BLAST!!”

Max: “AAH!! GRRR!”

Clover: “Yeah!! You go, Alex!”
Sam: “All right. Now Max in the one in trouble.”
Alex's thoughts: “I knew I could count on you, Red-Eyes. Now let's keep it up.”
Alex: “How do you like that, Max? Both your monsters have been reduced to a pile of Smoking, Metal derbies… and with my Metal Red-Eyes, I plan to go even tougher on you!”
Max: “Can it, Twerp! I'm not out of the loop yet.”
(Draws)
“You may have taken out my two best Machines, but now one of them is going to return. Thanks to this face-down card I got… DOUBLE SPELL!!”
Sabrina: “Oh, no… not that card. That allows him to activate any magic card in Alex's graveyard as if it were his own.”
Alex: “What?! Any Magic card?”
Max: “No joke. Now I'll discard one Magic card of my own first, and Activate your MONSTER REBORN and bring back my Slot Machine in Defensive mode.”
(Atk:2000 / Def: 2300)
“Now I'll throw my last card Face-down, and end my turn.”
Alex's thoughts: “His Slot Machine, but that card can't take a blast from my Red-Eyes no matter what mode it's in.”
Max: “But that's not all I'm going to do… I'm also going to play this Magic card… 7 COMPLETED!!”
(Middle slot spins to a Seven.)
Sam: “Hey… why did that middle slot just change?”
Max: “I wouldn't try attacking me now, Twerp! My Seven completed can increase either my Machine's attack, or defense power by 700 points.”
(Def: 3000)
Alex: “Awe man… with 3000 defense points, my Metal Red-Eyes can't break through.”
Max: “And you know what else I got? Two more 7 Completed cards that can power up my defense or attack by another 700 points.”
Alex: “Yeah… well just because you have them doesn't mean you'll draw them, Max. It's my move now.”
(Draws)
Alex: “Now I'll place one other card face-down, and end my turn!”
Max: “Well, isn't that nice of you. Beefin' up my life points so I can win this match easier.”
(Draws)
“Well just my luck, it's another CARD OF SANCTITY! “Now we both draw some more cards.”
Alex: “Fine by me… but like I said before, you might not be able to draw those two cards you need to destroy my Red-Eyes!”
Max's thoughts: “Hmm, mm… Oh, I'm not too worried about that.”
(As he draws he exchanges one card with a card hidden under his wrist band.)
(Millennium Necklace glows)
Mykan: “Huh?”
…
(Millennium Ring, and Rod glow)
Ishizu: “Hmm?
Marik: “What's this? Cheating some more are we?”
…
Max: “Well what do you know? Check out this… I got the cards, and I think I'll put one of them into play. This time I'll boost my attack power.”
(Atk: 2700)
Sam: “Oh, no! One more of those 7 Completed cards and that thing will strong enough to tear down Alex's dragon.”
Max: “I'm also puttin' one-Card Face-down, and now I'm going to throw this down too. BLAST SPHERE!!” (Rules fudged BIG TIME!)
(Blast sphere only has 1400 points both ways, and it's real effect. It has to be attacked in face-down position, and it equips to an opposing monster, destroys it and does damage is dealt to opponents score by the destroyed monster's attack power)
(Atk: 2900 / Def: 1400)
“Now attach yourself to Alex's Dragon.”
(Blast Sphere is equipped to Red-Eyes)
Alex: “Whoa! What's that thing doing to my Red-Eyes?”
Max: “Heh, heh… it's getting ready to explode. Once I end my turn, it'll do just that and deal 2900 points of damage toy your dragon.”
Alex's thoughts: “Oh, no…”
(Looks at her face down card)
“I was hopping to use this on his Slot Machine, but if I want to save my Red-Eyes I have no choice.”
Max: “Okay Twerp. I'm ending my turn now!”
(Blast Sphere explodes)
“Ha, ha, ha! Looks like you lose. Ha, ha, ha!”
(Dust clears and Red-Eyes is still standing)
“Huh? But… that Dragon should be blown to bits! Somethin' ain't right here.”
Alex: “Oh it's right. Thanks to my quick-play card, RUSH RECKLESSLY. It made my Red eyes 700 attack points stronger to deflect your Sphere's blast.”
Max: “You Twerp… now my only Blast Sphere got destroyed, and now my life points go down..”
(Atk: 3500) VS (Atk: 2900)
SCORE: (Alex: 575 / Max: 263)
Alex: “Aww… you're going to make me cry. But Maybe I'll make you cry as I make my move.”
“First I'll summon… AXE RAIDER to the field.”
(Atk: 1700 / Def: 1150)
“And then I'll activate this… ALTER FOR TRIBUTE!! Now I'll send my Axe Raider to the graveyard, and increase my life points by the total amount of his attack points.”
SCORE: (Alex: 2275 / Max: 263)
Clover: “Hey, All right… now Alex is way ahead in life points too. Max is going down!”
Mykan: “Well I'm not so sure about that.”
Clover: “Huh?”
Alex: “And that's not all… now I'll put an equip-card into play. DRAGON NAILS.” (Anime card only)
“It's going to make my will make my Red-Eyes 600 attack points stronger. Your Slot won't stand a chance”
(Atk: 4100)
“Go Red-Eyes. FLASH-FLARE-BLAST!!”
(Atk: 4100) VS (Atk: 3000)
Max: “You Amateur! You may have enough attack points, but I got a trap card.
NEGATE ATTACK!! It'll reduce stop your attack from even reaching me.”
(Attack negated)
Alex: “Hmm… no big deal. My Red-Eyes may lose his 700 attack points from my Rush
Recklessly, but he still gets to keep his Dragon Nails bonus.”
(Atk: 3400)
“I'll just wait and get you on my next turn.”
Max's thoughts: “Ha! We'll see about that!”
(Draws, and sneakily exchanges again)
Mykan's thoughts: “Why that rotten cheat!”
Max: “Well… just my luck, First I'll switch my Slot Machine into Attack mode, and then activate this other 7-Completed card I just drew and boost up my Slot's attack power again.”
Slot Machine… (Atk: 3400)
Red-Eyes Metal Dragon… (Atk: 3400)
Sabrina: “Both their monsters have the same attack points now.”
Sam: “Attacking won't do any good, so the next move could decide the fate of the entire match.”
Mykan's thoughts: “This duel shouldn't even be going on, not with Max cheating all the time.”
Clover: “Come on, Alex. you can do it!”
Alex's thoughts: “Hmm… if I can just find some way to destroy his Slot Machine while its in attack mode, I can win this match and put an end to this.”
“Well, my Shield and Sword card won't help. Playing that would only swap attack points with defence points.”
(Draws)
“Huh? But maybe this can help.”
Alex: “I'll put one card Face-down, and end my turn.”
Max: “Hmm… It's all over for you now Twerp. I got a card in my hand that's going to clench this match in the bag. PILLAGER!” (Anime card only)
“The Pillager let's me look at you dueling hand and snatch a card off it, so let's have a look at them.”
Alex: “Awe, Man!”
(Shows him her hand)
Max: “Ah-ha! I think I'll take that SHEILD AND SWORD card you got, and use it to swap our monsters attack power with their defence.”
Slot Machine… (Atk: 2400 / Def 3400)
Red-Eyes Metal Dragon… (Atk; 3000 / Def: 3400)
(Alex takes back her card, and walks back to her place)
Max: “Now, Twerp I'm going activate one more card and equip it to my Slot Machine. TWIN SWORDS OF FLASHING LIGHT -TRYCE!”
“My slot does lose 500 of his attack points, but when I discard a card from my hand, he cannon attack twice in one turn.”
Alex: “Ah!”
Sam: “No, Alex! She's going to get wiped out this turn!”
Max: “Now go, Slot Machine… PLASMA-LASER CANNON!!”
Alex: “AH! Activate Trap!”
(Atk: 3000) VS (Atk: 2400)
(Red-Eyes destroyed)
Max: “Ha, ha, ha! And Now I'll discard one card from my hand so I can-- Huh? What the?”
(GRAVEROBBER Snickering)
“You had a Grave robber card all this time!”
Alex: “You bet you, Max. Thanks to this little guy, I was able to pay 2000 life points and use it to bring back your RETURN OF THE DOOMED card. Which canceled out any damage you gave to me.”
SCORE: (Alex: 275 / Max: 263)
Max: “And then by discarding one monster card from your hand… That means…”
Alex: “Bingo. My Dragon's back.”
(Red Eyes returns)
“And even without his Dragon Nails bonus, his attack is still higher than your defense, and I don't think you'll able to block him this time. Go… FLASH-FLARE BLAST!!”
(Atk: 2800) VS (Atk: 2500)
FINAL SCORE: (Alex: 275 / Max: “0000”)
Max: “No way! She beat me! She actually won!!”
…
The images vanished and Clover and Sam jumped for joy. “WAY TO GO ALEX!!” they both cried.
Alex threw her arms in the air. “Hey… ALL RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!”
Sabrina and I were so happy Alex had won. Especially since I knew that Max had been cheating on her, but she won in any case.
“Well done, Alex. Very Well done!”
