(A/N: WAHHH!!! Free!! (well…. Not really…-_-) but well during my spare time I was able to make the 4th chapter. The Math exit exams are now over and I'm dead tired preparing for the Medieval Fair tomorrow - however there are more projects to come anyways and more to be done and well I NEED A BREAK Y'KNOW! I just hope that I *sweatdrop* pass….

Jap. Translations:

Youko= I think that's a fox demon, correct me if I'm wrong

Koorime= a fire demon

Nii-san= brother

Nani= what

Naze= why

Hai=yes

Ki=spiritual energy

Tensai= genius

Inari= this I'm not so sure but I think this is the Youko who is like a god's messenger or something. Kurama seems to be a follower or maybe he's just referring to himself…

Chapter 4. bother, brother…

"Hiei who is that?"

The startled voice of a good-looking red-haired teenager pierced through the solitary silence of the house.

Avoiding the question and the redhead's eyes he set the girl on the boy's bed. Then he glanced from the girl to Kurama. They somewhat looked alike too. They both had silky strands although Kurama's hair was red and the girl's was a dark brown. Te girl had pale skin while Kurama had a slight tan. Of course the most obvious difference was that the girl had a shapely body and Kurama had grown more muscular since the last tournament. They both had captivating eyes, the girl's eyes being a piercing violet and Kurama's eyes being a brilliant green. Kurama seemed to have noticed Hiei studying him and the girl and noticed what he was thinking about. He paled…Inari…. Who is this girl?

"Hiei…"

The fire demon looked away unsure of how to answer the question. He barely knew the girl despite the fact that she claimed to be Kurama's sister and that she branded him with an annoying nickname. Fortunately he didn't have to answer as the girl started to stir and flutter her eyes open.

"Nii-san…" Those were her first words coming out of her mouth. She was still well, shocked and overjoyed at the fact that her brother was alive that she didn't realize she was in a different place. It took her a second to absorb the fact she was in foreign surroundings.

Her eyes snapped open. "Nani- naze- where am I?"

Kurama watched as Hiei went to calm the much distressed girl. It was a curious sight seeing the koorime to act so… brotherly.

"Hiei-chan?" the girl asked dubiously.

Hiei-chan??? Kurama tried to stop from laughing when he heard the proud koorime's new nickname. It came out as a hacking cough instead.

The girl looked at Kurama curiously. She smiled politely even though she was thinking, who the heck are these people?

Hiei sighed resignedly. He pulled Kurama closer to the girl. "This is the baka kitsune I was telling you about. Kurama…"

Maya's lip trembled. "N-nii-san?"

Rukawa's POV

I followed Maya out of the gym however I lost her as soon as I got out. She was just too fast. Suddenly I regretted helping to train her years ago. Guilty conscience- she was right about me. I did try to run away from the past… Tried to run away and forget it…

I sat down under the shade of the tree when I reached the park. That would be two strikes against me… First I left them… but that was for their own good. I was trying to save them, not be the cause of their downfall. The Bandit's downfall…. was it really my fault?

Second I actually tried to live as a ningen. Maybe I could have lived as Rukawa the basketball tensai without who Kaede, the REAL Kaede was. I've even forgotten how to use my spiritual energy. Not that it would do any good in tracking her ki, Maya had always been able to hide or mask her ki.

I touched my amulet's smooth stone, it was a sign that you were a Bandit. I remembered our code - Bandit's forever- traitors must die. Cold sweat broke out of my body. Don't be a fool Rukawa - you're not a traitor, the real traitor's dead.

Suddenly I remembered Maya and leapt to my feet. "Maya?!" I called out. "MAYA!!!" I sighed felling my shoulders droop in defeat… now I'll never find her. I was preparing to go back to the gym when I heard the rustling of leaves.

Turning around I saw Maya falling headfirst out of a very tall tree. Every cell in my body screamed NO!! I tried to move but my feet were planted solid on the ground. Frozen in fear. Shit Rukawa, I scolded myself. Do you want to see Maya die?

Thankfully Maya was caught by a strange-looking short guy clad in all black. Whew… that was close, you may now put her down.

But the idiot didn't put her down! Instead he touched her face and proceeded to carry her around. What did that freak think he was doing with my Maya?! I growled and walked towards the guy to stop him but I stopped when I saw Maya, she was unconscious. She looked so beautiful, so frail, so delicate I wanted to rescue her from the big (>sweatdrop< big?!), bad (yep, right), freak! (T-T did he just day that?) That did it. I'm gonna let that guy have it RIGHT NOW!

Suddenly the guy disappeared and I heard a whoosh of wind and saw a trail of leaves floating in the air as if marking the direction where he went to. Dammit! I lost Maya again! In all my anger and frustration I felt my untapped and unused energy (spiritual) -at least a small part of it- flare out. I can now feel the guy's ki- shit he was powerful. I broke into a run following the guy's ki. I'm coming for you Maya.

I'm coming for you I promise…

Maya's POV

I stared at his loving green eyes. Shocked and surprised- yes. Heck they were even scared just like my eyes. But still… there was love in them. The Youko Kurama had always been a good brother.

I embraced him savoring his warmth greedily. I've been so deprived of his affection… ever since… never mind that… it's all in the past though I'm sure it will haunt one of us again. Right now I was more than happy to be finally with a brother whom I thought was dead and gone forever.

I felt my body transforming involuntarily. My silver hair fell to my eyes and I felt his hand brush them away. I lifted my face to look at his eyes. Gold meets gold. He was a picture of deadly grace and beauty - as always. 7 foot tall, muscular, glowing alabaster skin, cascading silky silver hair with fox ears and a tail dressed in Makai clothing. We both looked the same (duh! They both are youkos T-T) but he WAS the Youko Kurama. Swift, strong, silent and a deadly enemy. A loyal companion once you've proved yourself to him. Too loyal in fact. I'm sure the death of his partner Black Raven (that's Kuroune people!) must have devastated him…. just like my death…

I felt his strong hands touch my face. He always wore a cold, cruel facade but I knew better. I felt his steely golden eyes study me. He smiled, "Welcome back Youko Maya."

I shivered in delight at the sound of his voice. I've been waiting for centuries (literally) to finally hear those words from him.

"Hai nii-san"

I was so happy. So happy I would shout, jump and dance around and act completely peppy if not for the fact it was disgusting to think about. As Youko Maya I had my dignity to think about.

I smiled… Youko Maya and Youko Kurama were once again united.

(A/N: hmmm….hmmm….. you still following the story? You might be confused but it all makes sense anyway if you just follow the story. The easiest way is to put me in your Fave section and constantly REVIEW so I may fell pumped up to be more speedy in updating! ^-^ In Chapter 5 we learn why the siblings were separated and Rukawa makes an entrance…. Maybe if I don't fell lazy I'll have some characters here co I'd have someone to talk to in this wretched corner.
