Who is this Girl?:Chapter 5
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danika's POV
Great. Just great. Now what do I do?
Well, no use running. I'm stuck between a rock and a…err…angry people…yeah. Angry people with spirit energy. Oh, yeah. How fun.
I felt my body quiver nervously. I'm not sure if it's from the cold air around me or my fear. My sweater and shirt had been torn and who knows how my hair looks right now. My only guess is that it's frizzy and tangled (HERBAL ESSENCES TO THE RESCUE!!! …I don't own that by the way…).
I continued to scan the bunch, finally resting on the boy in front of me, the boy who was interrogating me. I knew who he was of course. The one and only Yusuke Urameshi. I observed him carefully. He had a pair of jeans on which were absolutely filthy, a tannish orange-rimmed jacket that was ripped in multiple spots, and a rather white shirt under although it was hard to tell from the tears and blotches all over it. His black hair was just plain messy since this boy (actually he's about 16 or 17 almost a man on a side note…) had been training in Makai and obviously didn't care whether he took a bath (or used clean underwear for the last couple of months…eww…>.<). I grimaced at his rugged look.
My eyes went to the person next to him, a confused expression shown clearly on his face. I recognized him immediately. I mean, how can you forget someone that unattractive? No. Unattractive would be the nice term for what he looked like. U-G-L-Y. Just plain UGLY. No more, no less.
It was none other than Kazuma Kuwabara. His hair was brown and had the elvis sorta look (who wears pompadours nowadays?). He was wearing a pair of jeans and a dark blue jacket over a bright orange shirt. His eyes were narrow and had a long face. His appearance was less dirty unlike Yusuke.
The next person was standing in the corner obviously taking mental notes of this whole `conversation'. He had a serious look, a cold and rather merciless stare of crimson red eyes... He was dressed in a wardrobe of pure black (WHOO!!! Go black!!!) with a katana at his side. A white headband was visible under his dark bangs. I shivered. Under that headband was a dangerous and powerful weapon. Seen on TV, it seems kinda cool but if you're actually there... I swallowed. Hiei or rather Janganshi Hiei.
I rested my gaze on the last boy (he's about 18 or 17, a man. But lets call him boy shall we? *gets whacked again by the reader* x.X). His red hair was slowly waving in the breeze around the area. He had his college school clothes on from before, I noted. Denial clouded his emerald green eyes. I clenched my teeth. Well, I guess even the great Kurama, or Shuiichi Minamino in human terms, would not have expected something like this to happen... to me of all people.
His eyes held suspicion now, his denial still there. I sighed, my confused gaze resting back on Yusuke.
Kurama's POV
I gaped. My throat closes. I am speechless. Danika? Here? I still can't believe this is happening. I had suspected Danika to be a demon or something of the sort…she knows about Yusuke. My eyes widen. What else does she know? Why would she be `attacked' by a demon if she was a demon? I cross my arms in thought. Of course, there is always the possibility of my assumption being false. I narrow my eyes in suspicion. But, why would Danika, of all people, be chased by a demon? Unless of course, it was searching for a quick meal.
I let my mind wander, searching for any possible answers. Was she in a group of apparitions? That demon that Yusuke shot down... was it part of another group? Was there maybe some sort of rivalry between them? I want to know. I have to know. How could have she known about us?
"WELL?!?!?" Yusuke shouted again, knocking me out from my daydream-like state.
"I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!! PURE…ACCIDENT!!!" Danika yelled, with the tone like she didn't know what she was saying.
"DON'T LIE TO ME!!!" Yusuke shouted again.
"I'M NOT LYING!!! I HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU GUYS ARE!!!" Danika screamed back with more confidence in her voice.
"THEN HOW THE HECK WOULD YOU HAVE `GUESSED' I WAS A SPIRIT DETECTIVE?!?! IN FACT HOW COULD YOU KNOW WHAT A SPIRIT DETECTIVE IS!!!" Yusuke shouted louder than ever. In fact I think the whole neighborhood would've heard it if Botan didn't tell him to quiet down…
"Uhhh…" Danika stammered again. Yusuke might have struck a chord… I incline my head in determination, deciding to say something after minutes of silence.
"Yes, indeed," I began. Danika stared at me, waiting for me to continue. "How could you have known that Yusuke was a spirit detective? Or his name for that matter," I continued, looking at her with a serious look. "Not to mention how you could have possibly known what a spirit detective is?"
"Well…I…" she said with a fake confused tone. I knew that she was about to say Yusuke's name before, just as she did with mine.
"Or my name even," I said as I felt my eyes narrow.
We were all staring at her with determined looks now. I felt that we all wanted to know exactly what was going on.
Koenma's POV
Strange that I didn't sense anything about this girl. But how could have she known Yusuke's name and occupation? Or like what Kurama has said…his name. Did she call him by his demon name or something? For the prince of Reiki, I had no clue whatsoever.
"What exactly is going on? What is your name?" I asked the girl. She looked up at me with doubtful eyes, even I felt she was scared.
"Danika…" she replied.
"Last name?" I asked again.
"K-Kusuma…" she stuttered, making me doubtful she was telling the truth. I looked over to Botan who was rushing through her book of Enma seeming to want to find information on this `Danika'. She kept rushing and turning the pages until she finally looked up at me and shook her head. I looked towards Danika once again.
"Your REAL name please…" I said with a hard impatient voice.
Danika's POV
"That IS my real name…" I said with emphasis on `is'. This interrogation business was really getting to me…I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled out a bright light and a chair outta no where. Heck, in this world, I would probably have a stress mark and sweatdrop right about now. Obviously, Botan didn't find any information on me. Well, that certainly helps.
"DON'T LIE AGAIN!!! IT'S GETTING OLD!!!" Yusuke spat at my face.
THAT DOES IT!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!! I shouted mentally.
"SHUT UP!!! SHUT UP!!! SHUT UP!!!" I just yelled. Everyone looked at me with surprised eyes. Except Kuwabara that was on the ground behind him, blown away from shock.
"Grr…I KNOW YOU GUYS FROM A TV SHOW!!! YOU'RE ALL FROM A TV SHOW IN MY WORLD!!!" I just decided to tell them everything. It was no use hiding anymore. They were absolutely driving me crazy and I was already gripping my head and closing my eyes tightly from stress. "I'M NOT FROM HERE!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT I CAME FROM A WORLD THAT IS NOT FROM NINGENKAI, REIKI, OR THE MAKAI!!! I KNOW EVERYTHING BECAUSE EVERYTHING'S JUST LIKE ON AN ANIME!!!"
I panted heavily. Everyone was dead silent. I opened my eyes carefully to see everyone looking at me like I was a nutcase. I couldn't blame them. I mean how many people would shout that they know all of this from a cartoon. I mean, really it is a stupid concept. In fact I won't be surprised if they don't believe me at all…
"Anime? Excuse me?" Botan said slowly.
I opened my eyes, finally. Come to think about it, it was strange. How would a cartoon be so real? No…it…it can't be. I refuse to believe it… "So this…really is real…" I sat suddenly quivering.
"Eh?" Kuwabara looked more dumbfounded than ever.
"Everything…the different worlds, the people, the demons, the danger…" I said, my voice shaking as I went on. I felt all eyes one me…as though I was having a seizure, but I didn't care. No, this was real. This was very real. I realized it before, but just now I finally gripped the sensation that everything here was not a cartoon, it was quite real.
"I'm afraid we do not follow," Kurama said finally, speaking for everyone. I now wanted to tell them. Everything that's happened…
"I…I'm not from here…" I explained, "I don't know where I'm from anymore then I know how I got here." I said as everyone stood listening including Hiei who had come out of the corner. "I'm not exactly 17, in my world I'm about 13, strange, I know. I don't know how that time works but that's the truth."
I knew the others were probably not believing this since I felt Hiei take of his headband to reveal his Jagan eye. Probably to check if I was lying or not, but nevertheless I continued. "I went to sleep around the afternoon at my real home, and I had a dream that suddenly brought me here…I woke up and looked around and I wasn't in my home in America anymore. Everything was different…it was animated including me…"
"WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!" Yusuke interrupted. I looked up at him with confused eyes asking what was up. "ANIMATED?!? WHAT'S THE DEAL ON THAT?!?!? WHAT DO YOU MEAN ANIMATED?!?"
That was when Kuwabara came in, "Ya mean like Inuyasha or Sailor Moon?" I sweatdropped, along with everyone else. I guessed that everything here was just normal to them…Well duh…I was about to tell him until Koenma interrupted again.
"Yusuke, this is from her world, what is over there might be different from here…" the `mighty ruler of the Spirit World' exclaimed.
"Hn…" Hiei said. He hadn't said a thing all during my little story so I guess he realized I was telling the truth. He put his headband back on and waited for me to continue…
Hiei's POV
This baka onna was really telling the truth. She isn't from here…not from demon world, human world, or spirit world. It really didn't make any sense, but it was the truth. I hated standing around like this. Even though her story was slightly interesting, I had better things to do. I decided to stay around since I didn't get this whole 13/17 business and the whole ani-whats it called thing neither. I recall Kurama showing me an example of that…ani…thing once.
"Animated, as in I don't exactly look like this in real life." She explained. "I realized that I had a nice family here too. It was unlike my real one in real life." She said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
Baka… I cursed in my mind. She better not go crying on us now… "I guess I had a life here as well as the one I normally have…" her voice hushed again. "one animated and one that's my home life…" she said.
"Save the drama," I explained, drawing everyone's attention to me. "We kind of figured about your two lives, no need to tell your life story." I said with a sharp voice, "And anyway I think we should discuss this somewhere less out on the open," I said, glaring at the others.
Koenma and Botan suddenly jumped. "GOSH DARN IT WE FORGOT!!!" They both said in unison. I sighed frustrated. We had gone through almost the whole story in the open where anyone could've heard us. "Lets get moving to Spirit World right away!!!" Botan exclaimed.
"Err…except we need help…I can't carry all of you at once on my oar," she said. Everyone except Danika, Kurama, and I fell over out of embarrassment.
"Erm…" Danika stuttered. She seemed hesitant to go over to Spirit World.
"You could finish your story at pacifier breath's office ok?" Kuwabara, who put his hand on her shoulder, asked until his ear was dragged by Koenma.
"Who are you calling pacifier breath?" Koenma said with a twitching eye.
Ayame and Hinageshi arrived soon after to take us to Spirit World. I didn't use my Jagan eye to see all the way into her mind, just to see if she was telling the truth. There was no need. I would find out as soon as we get to Spirit World.
Author's POV
Danika really didn't know what to do. She didn't stick to her plan of not getting the Reiki Tantei into all of this, but she really had no choice. She was a girl trapped into a cartoon world that was actually REAL!!! NOT A CARTOON!!! They all took to flight on the oars except Koenma who teleported without even volunteering to help.
As they took off they hadn't noticed the shadow from before. It was gone…nothing was left. It wasn't around the area anymore, instead it was going back…to where it came from…
