"More Than Meets The Eye"
Chapter 2 of Part 1

The sky was a very clear blue the next day. I had picked out to wear my
blue/purple bodysuit, baggy olive cargo shorts, a pair of red flip-flops, and a light blue
tank top. I walked casually down the sidewalk, casually glancing at the shops on my
way. Then when I looked across the street, I saw the Urameshi boy dancing around
making a kid laugh. I couldn't help but laugh as well. I continued walking, but
stopped when he appeared in front of me. He just looked at me, never changing his
expression of a scowl.
"Hi."
I said simply. Just then he looked to the side and yelled out towards the street. I
turned and followed his gaze. The little boy, he had made laugh, was now in the street
holding a ball. At that moment, a red sports car was barreling down the road.
"Whoa, watch out kid!"
The boy didn't hear.
"Hey!"
Yuske yelled again. I saw him run out into the street and I ran out after him. I
grabbed the little boy. When I set him down and went to go for Yuske, the sound of
him hitting the pavement reached my ears. I gasped in horror to see his body lying
out in the middle of the street, curved over slightly. Moments later, the paramedics
arrived to take his body away.
"I can't believe this… he- he's gone…"

**2 weeks later…**

I walked up the second floor to get to my next class, I over heard some
teachers talking.
"Things sure will be quiet without that punk Urameshi! We couldn't have
asked for a better miracle!"
One of them laughed. I felt my grip tighten on the books in my arms.
"Those jerks! Laughing at Yuske's death like it's a joke! Someone should give
them a good punching!"
I thought angrily. I then turned to the left away from them and went to class.

After school, I met Keiko on the front stairs.
"So, Patches… did you have a good day?"
I nodded.
"Class sure was quiet without Yuske, huh?"
"Yeah."
I answered, not really paying attention.
"Oh and I need to make a stop. Do you mind?"
"Whatever."

We soon found ourselves in front of Yuske's house. Keiko knocked, but
nobody answered. She got out a key and opened the door. The floor was covered with
trash bags and old newspapers.
"Gross! How can anyone live like this?"
We both took off our shoes and made out way through the mess. Keiko found a note,
written by Yuske's mother.
"She's gone off again."
She sighed.
"We better check on Yuske."
Keiko hopped over some old pizza boxes toward a door. When we opened it, we found
Yuske amidst more garbage.
"Oh please! This is horrible!"
Keiko bent down and started clearing the room.
"I'll be back, Patches. I need to run down to the store to get some things for
my mother. I wont be long."
Keiko then left the room and I heard the front door close. I looked down at Yuske and
knelt beside him.
