Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Don't Need Me, Anymore? ❯ What a Pleasant Surprise? ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Me: So it's been about two years... I'm reaching a stage in my life where I look upon
things and realize I could still do them.
Yusuke: You sound like an old lady... o.O
Me: Granted, I'm not sure most high school sophomores go through this kind of thing,
but I'm just giving excuses to why I didn't think I should upload before.
Yusuke: Right...
Kuwabara: So what's this fanfic about?
Me: A really played out topic, but to mix it up a little, this is an OCxKurama and
OCxYusuke story.
Yusuke: One or two OC's?
Me: One.
Kurama: Does it really give you joy to put Yusuke and I against each other in a story?
Yusuke: Yeah! Kurama's always had my back. Besides, I have Keiko.
Me: Well, we'll have to work around that, then. Now, as the drill goes, I do NOT own
Yu Yu Hakusho. Please enjoy the story.

Chapter 1
Yusuke hummed his way across the school yard, relieved of the last school bell of
the year. Well, atleast for himself. He had decided to cut during lunch and have a
celebration at the arcade. Yusuke hopped the tall fence and landed on the concrete.
Running a hand through his slick, black hair, he started on his way down the sidewalk.
"Ditching again, Yusuke?" Yusuke waved off the voice, taking a few more steps.
Suddenly recognizing the voice, he sharply stopped in his tracks. Whipping around on
his heels, he stared at the amused red head.
"Kurama! What`re you doin` on our side a` town?" Yusuke jeered, popping a piece of

gum in his mouth. The fox merely turned to face Yusuke and tucked a lock of hair
behind his ear.
"I was taking a stroll around to kill time before your school ended. I had spoken to
Keiko recently and she seemed proud that you were attending your classes," Kurama
stated, an all - knowing smirk plastered on his face. Yusuke laughed nervously and
sweat dropped. "Imagine my surprise when I see you heading the opposite way of your
classes."
"Eh..." Yusuke scratched his head and slowly stepped away from the fox.
"I`m not here to bust you. I`m here to invite you and Kuwabara to a small party my
parents are throwing for my graduation," Kurama leaned his back against the wall.
Yusuke continued to slowly make his way around the corner. "There`ll be music,
games... A big buffet table..."
The footsteps stopped. Kurama silently smiled. Yusuke returned as quick as he heard
the last word escape from Kurama's mouth.
"Count me in!" Yusuke laughed. He thought for a moment and stared at Kurama. "You
graduated?!?!" Kurama laughed and nodded.
"It won`t be much fun without you and Kuwabara there, so do you happen to know
where he is?" Kurama looked around. Yusuke pondered on the thought for a moment
and shook his head.
"Maybe out saving his kitty from a tree?"
"I really doubt that, Yusuke," Kurama chuckled. A familiar black blur struck the
kitsune's attention. "Glad you could make it, Hiei," he mused. Hiei gave a small `hn'
and took a perch in a tree.
Yusuke and Kurama exchanged a few more words to each other when Hiei leapt
down between the two. Sarayashiki Jr. High was now over and everyone was rushing
out to greet freedom. A tall carrot top let out a battle cry of a cheer and sprinted out of
the gates. He had hit Kurama's shoulder, oblivious to his friends' presences in front of
the school.
"HEY KUWABARA! FREE FOOD! I CHALLENGE YOU TO AN EAT OFF!"
Yusuke screamed after the stampeding delinquent. The ground stopped shaking as
Kuwabara skid to a break.

"YoU`rE oN!!!" Fire burned in Kuwabara's eyes. Kurama chuckled. Yusuke grinned
mischievously. Kuwabara finally noticed Kurama and ran over to greet him, which soon
was followed with a big CONGRATS.

The party was all that Kurama had promised. His mom, his step dad (A/N: I can`t
seem to find his father`s name, so if you happen to know what it is, could you tell me?
For now, I think I`ll just call him Hirokai), Hakoda(A/N: step brother for those who may
not know), and several relatives had gathered for a party in the backyard. The music
was bouncing off the trees, the balloons, and through people's ears. The buffet table
stretched from one side of the yard to the other. A dance floor was full of several of
Kurama's cousins, including cute little toddlers trying to mimic those around them.
Yusuke and Kuwabara were having so much fun that they even forgot about the whole
food challenge thing, but of course nothing stopped them from stuffing their faces.
Soon, Kurama was out of breath and stepped off to the wall, not noticing Shiori (A/N:
Mom) talking with Yusuke, a childish smile on her face.
"AWESOME PARTY KURRRRRRRRRRRR.... Uh... Erm... Shuiichi!" Yusuke
slapped Kurama on the back, knocking more of his breath out.
"Yusuke, please. You`ll make me die on my graduation day," Kurama grinned.
"Well, don`t die just yet. Your mom has a huge present for you."
"I`ve already received so many presents. What more can there be?"
"Well, this is more of a set up kind of a present," Kuwabara chimed in. Yusuke nodded
in agreement. Kurama sighed, wondering what his mom had planned for him.
The music quieted down suddenly, and everyone's heads turned toward the stereo where
Hakoda was standing.
"I would like to make a toast to my brother Shuiichi! May his road before and during
college be smooth!" Hakoda raised his glass, and so did everyone else. Kurama smiled.
He loved having a brother.
"And a toast to the work our dedicated Shuiichi put into each assignment and activity!"
"Another one for the good looks that attracted so many admirers [Laughter]."
Kurama laughed and raised his glass. "How about another for my family not to

go to far?" He clacked glasses with Yusuke and Kuwabara. Hiei had hidden himself in a
tree after being assaulted by a crowd of small children. Apparently he had a charm with
the little ones. Just as everyone was dispersing...
"Aw... You could`ve waited for me before doing the toast."
Faces turned to the side of the house. The voice's owner started to make her way
to the man of the hour. Kurama had noticed the silence a few seconds late and turned
around. His heart jumped, a familiar face casually striding toward him. Yusuke had
been shocked, too, but he wasn't sure where he new her from. The person's long hair
was long (like 7 years long xD) and light brown, a set of blue streaked bangs covering
her left eye. A breeze lifted her hair slightly, letting the sun's rays bounce off her baby
blue eyes. Her hand raised, an imaginary glass in her hand.
"For all the unforgettable memories you create with everyone around you," the girl
teased with a wink. She got up close to Kurama and poked him with her pinky. "Long
time no see." A pink shade spread across his face and his wide eyes planted themselves
on his mother.
"Surprise, Shuiichi," Shiori giggled, a happy shine in both her eyes.

Me: Well, that wasn't all that good, but it's a start.
Yusuke: So wait a minute... How do I know her?
Kuwabara: I wish someone would give me a girl for a present.
Kurama: That was somewhat disturbingly stated...
Me: More than somewhat... But I could care less. I'm sure he's just having a moment.
Kuwabara: *sniff* You got that right...
Yusuke: Aw quit it you softie.

Me: Well, before a fight starts, I'll end it here. Please R&R, but I don't really expect it.
But please if anyone knows Kurama's step dad's name, could they please tell me?
