Messing With Heat Ch5: I can be Your Hero

You soon regain your balance, stumbling back a few times. Eyes wide and breath caught, you keep your hands closed into tight fists. No more air please, you think desperately. That was enough of what I ever want to do, unless I don’t go almost flying off a ship!

You hear another noise, coming from behind you. You look, curious, and what you see makes your stomach drop.

Pirates.

Wow, you couldn’t help but be in real wonder. Real pirates! You usually thought of them of people who take over modern day ships for money, and take hostages. But here you see them, wearing eye patches and ugly. These were how pirates really used to be, even though they were dangerous!

You couldn’t help but stare in slight wonder, your mouth gaping wide open. The leader had this bird perched on his shoulder, and some pirates were fighting with long swords, the sounds of fire bending and swords clashing reaching your ears. Said leader was making his way through the middle of it all, towards a angry looking Zuko.

No….Angry was an understatement.

Zuko was furious. Just by looking at how he was standing, leaning forward a bit. He was glaring at the leader, half watching his crew fighting. His hands were crossed, turning whiter since the pressure he was putting down on them. His feet were shoulder length apart, proudly standing with his fire nation armor. And his evil looking top knot was fluttering madly from the gentle winds of the open sea.

Suddenly, you were grabbed from behind. And with a choke, jerked backwards. There was a life boat in the water, and you did not like how this guy smelled.

You screamed for Zuko’s help, who couldn’t hear you at all. He was now talking to the leader, looking irritated and angry. But the pirate behind you snickered and took baby steps to the boat below, with you fully against his body. Your screams were muffled by his disgusting hand, which you would have licked to get off, but it just stank so bad. Your eyes were watering just from the stench!

With a growl, you elbow him from behind. The pirate groaned and let you go, taking a step back. Then, you do a swift round house kick reverse, and hit him squarely in the head. You watch in satisfaction when he slumps to the floor, knocked out.

“That’s karate, learn it!” You laugh to yourself, walking like you were it down the ship. You watch the other soldiers fighting, kind of glad the fire nation was winning. The pirates were falling off the ship, one by one. But when you heard a familiar yell, you look sharply to your left.

Zuko.

Fighting with the leader.

They were up and personal, punching and kicking violently. You had to hand it to the old looking leader, he was good for his old age. That parrot thing was cawing loudly, saying such stupid words. But when the leader suddenly lashed out a long sword, you sweat dropped.

With another yell, Zuko was flown backwards from a kick to his ribs. He grabbed his stomach, lolling his head back to the sky in pain. You watch with a new feeling in your stomach as Zuko was in pain, and as the leader bared his swords, getting ready to finish the banished prince off.

No! Zuko was too important in this show to die! No matter what, you just couldn’t let that happen. Besides, if you die maybe you’ll go back to your world!

Without a second thought, you sprint down and when he raises his knife, you dive headfirst and he crashed his sword down right on your hip.

You heard wild screams of total agony. But soon, after realizing it was you, pain hit your body like a tsunami. This was just ordinary pain you had when you received a small scrape. This was a slash, not stab, but a large gash in your hip. You hit the floor, body jerking from all the nerves being hit. Your mind goes out of control, making flail like a fish somewhat.

Why the hell did I just save Zuko?

He did nothing for me, why should I do this for him!

Heck, I might even die!

And this pain seriously wasn’t part of the plan.

You screaming cuts down to weak whimpers, now feeling dazed. Looking up at the clear blue sky, you watch a cloud roll by. Tears were coming down your face, and you were choking loudly on tears in your mouth. You couldn’t help it, you felt like you were just cut in half! You thought you were going to die fast, not suffer like this!

You hear some splashing and the yelling of the evil pirates. Then Zuko was in your face, telling you something. He was mouthing the words, but nothing came out. Everything turned muted, like in slow motion for awhile. Laying your head down on the wooden deck, you close your eyes, waiting for the death to overtake you.

But when you open them, your still there on the ship, and Zuko was doing something to your side. When he touches your wound, you feel completely nothing and just lay there. You can’t even talk, everything is so numb! Remembering slightly of going to the dentist, you just can’t remember being this numb before.

Finally it’s like the mute went off. Zuko was saying stuff, but you keyed him out. But you couldn’t help but realize how strained his voice was, and how his bottom lip would quiver once in awhile. And his hands were all shaky, as he kneeled at your side to take care of your wound. All of a sudden, he ripped off your shirt, making you shiver in the cold. You look over at him, slightly fluttered a bit and shoot him a look of confusion.

“I need to put something on it.” He choked, his voice even sounding like it was shaking. He was working in jerky movements, as he took out these white fluffy patch looking things.

Still not being able to speak, you grunted in reply and watch as he gently eased the band aid looking thing onto your large gash, with it being numb and all, it did not hurt one bit.

“You need to rest now.” He stated, sounding like he was talking more to himself.

He picked you up gently, bridal style, and made his way through the crowd. The crew was watching the whole time, sending you pity filled looks. You ignore them, and focus on the sudden warmth from his body. The heat radiating off him was like being by the oven, warm and toasty.

Soon you find yourself being laid on a bed, but you reach out to grab his sleeve. Zuko shot you a look of concern and confusion as you gently yank him down closer. His eyes looked deeply pained as they met yours, the golden pupils looking more intensified than ever.

You just lean in, laying your head in his palm of his hand, and nuzzle it tenderly. You wanted him to stay, just seeing him makes you feel more at ease. He looks down at you, looking lovingly and almost tenderly. And soon you surprisingly feel the weight shift on the bed as he sits by you, bending you slightly so you were falling to him.

“I’m right here.” He said, his voice soft and so different.

It sounded like it did in book three, making you smile happily just at the sound of it. But you weakly grab his hand, with both of yours, and hold on with a small grip.

Still holding his hand, you fall into a deep, healing sleep.

Please review if I did anything wrong people! I might even need some motivation, like any other author! ;D
