“I took care of it,” Dee said with a wave of his hand before a pleased smile slid across his face again.
Leo frowned slightly and swirled his drink.
“What are you so happy about?”
“I spent the day with Ryo,” Dee said, a grin actually breaking out now.
“The cop?”
“Why is that the first thing everyone says?” Dee said with a scowl. “Yes, he's a cop, dammit.”
Leo was silent a moment and then stared down at his drink.
“I thought you'd have that out of your system by now.”
Dee blinked and Leo sighed heavily.
“You haven't asked about Alicia lately,” the mob boss said softly.
Dee flinched and stared down at his glowing cigarette.
“No,” he said softly.
“She's fine,” Leo said flatly. “Italy suits her.”
“Good,” Dee said.
Alicia Grant was the only woman that Leo had ever loved, and the only woman he would ever love. Unfortunately, she was also the only person in the world that he betrayed again and again. He couldn't be the man she wanted, and all that fiery love that she wanted so desperately had begun to twist. Dee's eyes closed; it was amazing how close hot passion was to hot hatred. He had been the one to tell Leo about the affairs, and still Leo had loved her. He had been the one to tell Leo when she started using some of the family's finer product and still Leo had forgiven her. And he had been the one to warn Leo when she started aiming for him.
She had been quietly shipped off to Italy to be cared for by her family. They saw each other occasionally, and Dee suspected that it was killing her. She just wanted Leo to see her, her and only her, and it was breaking her apart. Unfortunately, she didn't understand that she had always been the only one.
Leo's mouth thinned and he stood up, quickly pulling on his jacket.
“Come on,” he said finally. “We've got some business.”

“So where are we going?” Dee asked as the car cruised through New York City.
Leo glanced over at him and then shrugged a little.
“We've got a complication to deal with.”
“How severely?” Dee asked with professional detachment.
“Permanently,” Leo said flatly.
Dee nodded and they rode on in silence. At last the driver knocked on the partition and Leo nodded. They parked and Dee sighed.
“Where?”
“There,” Leo said and pointed towards the center of a small café.
The man sitting there was finishing dinner, a newspaper gripped in one hand as he sipped at his coffee. Dee surveyed the angles. An easy enough shot, though it would probably scare the hell out of the other patrons. Oh well, an interesting story for their next cocktail parties. He'd need a silencer for it, Leo usually kept one in the trunk so no problems there. His head cocked to one side as he took everything in and nodded.
“Okay,” he said. “I've--”
His voice choked out as the paper shifted and Ryo's face was revealed. Dee felt blood pulse in his temples and his vision grayed for an instant. His eyes jerked to Leo.
“What?” Dee breathed huskily. “Is he…”
“What if he was?” Leo asked coldly. “Could you do it?”
Dee's eyes slid back out the window.
“If you couldn't,” Leo pressed. “You and I both could list ten others who could without having to think hard. He's a cop Dee. There are strings attached.”
Dee was silent and Leo shook his head.
“How are you going to explain where you were last night?”
Dee flinched and Leo continued.
“Break it off, break it off now. It will only get harder.”
Leo's eyes softened suddenly.
“If you love him, end it.”

It felt like a bagel morning. Randy chuckled quietly as he pulled on some clothes and grabbed his keys. He just wasn't in the mood to find something to eat in the little apartment. Fresh coffee and something warm and buttered sounded like a good way to start things off. He had the day off after all, after the week from hell, so he could take his time. Randy sighed. Everything had gone wrong. His computer had crashed, the Chief had yelled at him for something that he hadn't been responsible for, Bikky had been called the principal's office four times, and…Dee hadn't shown up once.
He scratched lightly at the back of his head. That one thought was so painful. Had he done something wrong? He had tried calling Dee a couple of times, but there had been no answer. Maybe he was out of town, or…
Randy's eyes closed. Maybe he was getting the brush off but he was too stupid to realize it. He sighed again and stared up at the sky as he walked. No, he decided suddenly, whatever was going on, Dee wasn't the kind of guy to just end their…whatever…without telling him. Randy chuckled.
He was whistling softly as he headed for breakfast when he noticed him. Leo Grant. A numbing coldness rushed through Randy and all thoughts fled away. His feet carried him blindly on now. He became the mob man's shadow and he felt a strange tingling run through his fingers. What if he had his gun with him? Would he shoot now?
Randy blinked slowly as those thoughts suddenly swirled away.
If Leo was here, shouldn't Dee be close by too?
He looked around quickly but didn't spot the dark haired assassin anywhere. He was suddenly disappointed, but didn't stop following Leo. The mob boss stepped into a quiet restaurant and Randy waited a moment before he followed. He spotted Leo sitting down in a large booth and quickly maneuvered himself to the one next to it, ordering by pointed when the waiter came around. He listened intently as Leo spoke into his cell phone.
“I'm here now,” he said flatly. “Yes, I know. He's late. Keep your position. I want this to go smoothly.”
There was a little rustling as Leo put the phone away. Randy frowned as he wondered what either of them was doing here, and then there was more scuffling as the booth behind him was filled.
“Hello Mr. Grant,” a strikingly familiar voice said. “It's so nice to finally meet face to face. I understand you're authorized to speak for Bruno?”
“Yes,” Leo said in his flat voice. “It's nice to finally meet you as well Mr. MacLean.”
Randy's eyes widened and he clung to the table to keep from craning his neck around to look. His breath caught as Franklin MacLean started to speak and all doubts disappeared.
“I hope that you have some understanding of the purpose of this meeting,” MacLean said briskly.
“Yes,” Leo answered.
Silence pressed and MacLean chuckled.
“You're a man of few words. Mr. Grant, we've made some very careful arrangements to begin to…participate in some of New York's less than legal activities. However, we don't want to step on anyone's toes. I'm hoping that we can some to some sort of agreement between our two families.”
“Agreed. You know where our territory begins. So long as you stick to the areas you got from Makkel and Vones, we won't have a problem. I suggest that you take a few more precautions to keep from drawing attention to yourselves and that you don't attempt to make us the fall guys for any of your future activities.”
“Yes,” MacLean chuckled. “Just a way of getting your attention.”
“Yes,” Leo said wryly. “Very amusing.”
“So then we're in agreement?”
There was another long pause and then Leo spoke again.
“You know don't you?”
“Know what?”
“How your son died.”
Randy couldn't help but suck in a quick hiss of breath, his hands tightening on the table. He felt like he was going to pass out. The silence came again and then MacLean sighed.
“Yes,” he said finally. “I wouldn't worry yourself. He wasn't all that important anyway.”
Black fanned over Randy's eyes and their voices became low burrs, like the buzzing of distant engines. He couldn't seem to wrap his mind around that. It wasn't right. He wasn't all that important…
His hand slid up to press against his temple, a stroke of luck that hid his face as MacLean walked casually by. Randy clung to the table as he tried to understand what was happening.
Leo sighed and leaned his head back, resting it lightly against the thin divider that separated the two booths.
“You heard right?” he asked, his voice a little louder now.
Randy froze, shivering a little as his eyes widened. Leo sighed again and slid around the corner, settling heavily next to Randy. He stared at the detective, a cigarette clamped lightly between his fingers.
“That's how it is,” Leo said flatly. “That's how we all are.”
Randy looked up at him and Leo's breath caught. He could see everything in those dark eyes, those eyes that had every right to hate him. This man had never been betrayed like that before; he had never felt this kind of pain before. Leo looked away and sighed again, his eyes closing as he shook his head.
Then Randy was shoving him aside and fleeing from the restaurant, his eyes blind and empty as he rushed away. Leo's mouth thinned and he ground out his cigarette as he pulled out his phone.
“Where are you?” he said lowly.
“Running your damn errands,” Dee answered irritably. “This damn list is going to take all morning.”
“Forget it,” Leo said. “Go home and stay there.”
“Huh? Leo…”
“Consider it an order.”

Dee threw his shirt off and plopped down on the couch, a scowl and a beer in place. Damn Leo. What the hell was his problem anyway? First Leo wants him to run his fucking pissant errands, things that they usually paid rookies to handle, and then he calls up and cancels everything. Leo had just been weird all week.
Dee sighed and stared glumly down at his drink as he passed it back and forth between his hands. All week. All week without Ryo. He still didn't know what to do. Leo might be right; it might be for the best for everyone that they stop now. Dee's eyes closed.
God he didn't want to stop now.
He flopped back into the couch and boredly stared up at the ceiling. He could watch some TV or read a book. He had spent the whole morning irritably wishing to go home and now look at him. Dammit, now that he was supposed to stay put all he could think about was leaving. He growled low in his throat and shook his head as he took a slow drink.
There was a quiet knock at his door and Dee frowned a little as he got back to his feet. His hand slid to the gun holstered at his back and then he quickly padded to the door, his frown darkening as he peeked through the hole. His eyes widened and he practically ripped the door off its hinges.
“Ryo? What's wrong?”
Ryo stared at him forlornly and Dee gently pulled him into the apartment, his hand sliding up to rest on Ryo's back as he led the detective inside.
“Are you alright? What happened? Is Bikky okay?”
“He's fine,” Ryo answered listlessly.
Dee froze and his eyes locked with Ryo's. He knew that look. He had seen it before.
“What did he do?” Dee asked softly. “What did Leo do?”
Ryo shook his head.
“It doesn't matter,” Ryo said and then shook his head again. “It does, but I…I didn't do anything. He's fine.”
“He's not the one I'm worried about,” Dee said softly as he brushed Ryo's hair back. “What happened?”
“He…” Ryo closed his eyes for a moment. “I just got…confused…and the next thing I knew, I was here.”
His eyes slid to Dee and he gave him a soft sweet smile.
“I just wanted to see you.”
Dee felt his heart skip a whole series of beats. If he had to die, he could have done it then, a perfectly happy man. Then his arms were wrapping around Ryo, pulling him close even as the tears began to fall. Dee's lips traced over his face, searching and soothing as he held Ryo and gently kissed him. Ryo held him close and when the kiss finally ended, Ryo didn't look away. He stared up into Dee's eyes and then pulled him close again, leaning into him as he held tightly to Dee. Dee's hands slid up and down Ryo's back, moving slow as Ryo suddenly kissed his collarbone. Dee shivered and slowly pulled away from Ryo's hold. Ryo's eyes lifted to meet his again and Dee didn't see any hesitance or indecision. He saw decision, desire, want. He shivered slightly.
“Are you sure?” he whispered.
“Yes,” Ryo answered softly.
Dee pulled him into another kiss and this time Ryo's arms slid up around his neck, their bodies pressing together as Dee explored and reveled in Ryo's warm mouth. He felt Ryo's tongue brush over his, a cautious touch, and it sent electricity running down his spine. Dee broke away from the kiss reluctantly and gently smiled at Ryo as he ran a hand down his neck. His fingers tangled with Ryo's and he slowly led the detective towards the bedroom.
They were the longest seven seconds of his life. He held his breath, waiting for Ryo to pause or pull away, but then Ryo was closing the door behind them and Dee smiled again. He guided Ryo to the bed and pulled him into another long kiss, gently lowering him to the bed as Ryo's hands slid up and down his back. Dee stared down at Ryo, his eyes tracing over smooth soft skin and deep dark eyes. He almost spoke, he almost whispered soft words over Ryo's lips, but instead he leaned forward for another kiss.
There would be words later, for now, he wanted to show Ryo everything. He wanted to show Ryo how much he really loved him.
Dee slowly lowered himself down to rest warmly over Ryo, his chest tightening as it did every time he was this close to his beautiful detective. He felt Ryo's legs part to cradle him close, to pull him as near as he could be. Dee slowly covered Ryo's face in soft caresses as his hand slid down to tug Ryo's shirt open and skate down soft smooth skin. He could feel Ryo's breath shift and his body tense and shiver beneath Dee's touch.
Dee's eyes closed as his lips slid down Ryo's jaw and gently traced over his pulse, his tongue sliding out to caress over smooth collarbones. A soft moan escaped Ryo, and Dee felt a pair of cautious hands gently tangle in his hair. Dee spread the shirt open wide and his hands began to slide up and down Ryo's smooth sides. A warm wet trail followed him as he slowly made his way to one nipple, his lips grazing over it before he kissed it. Now Ryo moaned lowly, his head thrown back as he tried to keep his breathing deep and even. Dee licked over the pink nub until it pricked in his mouth and then lightly sucked at it for a moment. He could feel Ryo trembling beneath him, and was rewarded with another pleased moan when he turned his attention to the other nipple.
Ryo's arm slid out of one side of his shirt, his fingers immediately locking in the blanket as Dee's mouth suddenly began to slide down his stomach. Expectant fire raced through Ryo as he felt his stomach and cock suddenly lurch with desire. He felt like he was floating, drifting up into Dee as the dark haired man slowly opened his pants.
Ryo shivered as Dee began to slide his pants down, slow wet kisses smoldering down his body. The jeans were tugged free, Dee's hands sliding up and down his thighs now as Ryo trembled. His eyes were closed, both hands clinging to the bed as Dee leaned forward and ran a slow meticulous tongue over his erection. Ryo's mouth opened in a soundless scream as Dee searched over every inch with his warm wet tongue. His lips finally curled around the head of Ryo's cock, suckling lightly as Ryo writhed upon the bed, everything desperate and aching for Dee's touch. Ryo cried out, his back arching as Dee held his hips tightly, keeping him pinned to the bed.
Ryo gasped for air, his panting breathing echoing out into the small room. It was music in Dee's ears, the only sound in the world, and when Ryo's voice was added to it, a deep breathy call of pleasure, he felt fire run through him. He pulled his lips free and he felt Ryo gasp again, his chest heaving as he fumbled through a blurry passion daze. Dee's hand slid up and down his side soothingly as Dee leaned forward to dig in the nightstand, finally retrieving the tube of lube.
He knelt back between Ryo's legs, again leaning forward and teasing the hard cock with his lips. Ryo moaned again and thrust forward a little, his body flushed and warm as Dee covered his fingers in the slick lube. He cautiously circled his finger around Ryo's tight entrance, covering it slickly before he began to gently tease it open. He began to run his lips up and down Ryo's erection, a soft easy rhythm that soon had Ryo arching and moaning beneath him.
Dee's finger began to pick up the rhythm, gently working in and out as Ryo's body began to match his pace. He stretched Ryo carefully, drawing out his pleasure again and with gentle licks and teasing caresses as he added to the pressure in Ryo's body. Now three fingers slid in and out of Ryo, slick sounds filling the room as Ryo cried out and moaned with almost complete abandonment. Dee began to curl his fingers, exploring and touching, until he suddenly felt Ryo go rigid and taunt with pleasure. An animal like cry escaped Ryo and Dee felt the cock in his mouth twitch.
Dee's lips became firmer and he sucked harder now, drawing Ryo deeper into his mouth as his fingers targeted that spot again. Ryo's head threw back as he clung to the bed, his eyes clenched shut as unbelievable pleasure washed over him, it felt amazing, unlike anything he had ever felt before. Then it was all suddenly filling him, his eyes snapping open as he came, a long quavering cry escaping him as he arched hard into Dee's mouth. For a long moment Ryo thought that he would never stop cumming. Everything seemed to be pouring out, and he couldn't help but think that so long as he felt like this, it wouldn't matter.
Then his body was falling back to the bed, limp and sweat covered, his eyes falling half closed as he struggled to catch his breath. He felt amazing, content, alive, but there was something else. Some new desire was still with him, some want, something that he still needed.
Then Dee's body was covering him, the hit man naked now as he cradled Ryo close and gently kissed over his face again. He nuzzled against Ryo, caressing and stroking over smooth pale skin as Ryo leaned into his hold. They kissed, long and slow, and Ryo reveled in the expert touch of Dee's tongue, in the way it slid into his mouth and searched all through him. He was a little amazed when he felt his cock begin to shift again. Then Dee was kissing down his throat and kneeling back between his legs. Dee's hands slid to Ryo's knees, guiding them up as Ryo's fingers again knotted in the blankets. He closed his eyes as he felt Dee press against him and then press inside.
There was a burning stretching, a deep feeling of being almost strained past his limits. It hurt, and his mouth thinned as he trembled a little. Dee moaned loudly over him, his face pressed against Ryo's neck as he struggled to keep in control. Then his fingers tangled with Ryo's and he leaned forward for another kiss. Ryo willingly gave over to that kiss, lost himself in the warmth of Dee's mouth and taste as his body stretched and adjusted. He relaxed into the feel of Dee, and then Dee cautiously moved.
Ryo moaned loudly and his body arched with pleasure. His hands slid up to Dee's back as Dee braced himself against the bed, his breath hot over Ryo's face as he began to thrust. Ryo whispered over Dee's neck as they moved, their bodies slick with sweat as both felt a strange completeness wash over them. Dee's eyes closed, everything in him screaming with joy as he slid into Ryo again and again, his whole body filled with excruciating ecstasy. He couldn't last much longer, he was amazed he had lasted this long, and one hand slid down Ryo's trembling body to wrap around his cock.
Ryo's mouth hung open as he screamed and came again, Dee tensing and cumming as the sound rippled up over him. They rode it out, a release that was so complete and filling that both were swept away in its force. White covered the world as everything else disappeared and there was only their bodies and the gentle feel of lips meeting in a long slow kiss.
Dee panted heavily as his head finally cleared and he stared down at Ryo through dazed eyes. Ryo stared up at him, his own chest heaving as one hand slid up to gently brush over Dee's lips. Dee smiled and softly kissed Ryo's fingertips, his hand rising to hold Ryo's. He slid carefully free, Ryo wincing a little. Then Dee lay down next to him, Ryo rolling onto his side to wrap his arms around Dee. Dee smiled and leaned into Ryo's hold, his eyes drifting closed as he surrendered to contented peace. Ryo breathed a long sigh and pressed himself against Dee's body and drifted off to deep sleep.
