Sorry or the long wait, but I promise, this chapter's worth it! I was gonna wait a couple more chapters, but I just had to get this down! Ok, this is going to be awesome! FYI-There may be a few song-fic chappy's in the future. Review!

The Music Contest

On Friday, the night of the competitin, everyone was nervous, Kagome was still mad at Inuyasha, and Rin still felt bad.

"Ok guys, this is it!" Chioma said, "Just do your best, and have fun!"

Together the groups entered the Mess Hall. Kikyo waved a flirtatious hand at Inuyasha, who in turn, rolled his eyes but kept his mouth shut. They looked around the Mess Hall, pink and blue, the camp's colors, decorated the main hall, the tables had blue spreads over them with a circular pink lamp in the middle of each. A spotlight was set on the stage, which was currently vacant with the exception of the black curtain that looked almost ominous, and the microphone that looked disturbingly like a robot combined with the stand it was on.

"Will the groups participating please enter the area behind the black curtain?" An unidentifiable voice called over the loud-speakers.

"Well, here we go!" Sango said nervously, walking behind the curtain as the others tensely followed.

Some people for other groups had gone, no one looked very promising, luckily for Group 2. Then the first person from their group was called.

"Sango Hirakatsu! Please step onto the stage!" Sango jerkily put her tape in the recorder and walked on stage. She turned and gave Kagome a shaky smile, who gave her a thumbs-up, and started the music.

"Miss independent
Miss self sufficient
Miss keep your distance

Sango's eyes slowly closed as she struck every note.

Miss unafraid
Miss out my way
Miss don't let a man interfere, no
Miss on her own
Miss almost grown
Miss never let a man help her off her throne
So, by keeping her heart protected
She'd never ever feel rejected
Little miss apprehensive
I said ooo, she fell in love

At this point, Sango sang for all she was worth, Kagome smiled, realizing she was right about Sango's selection.

Miss guarded heart

But she miscalculated
She didn't want to end up jaded

So, by changing her misconceptions
She went in a new direction
And found inside she felt a connection
She fell in love

Miroku started making a connection.

When Miss independent walked away
No time for love that came her way
She looked in the mirror and thought today

It took some time for her to see

I'm so glad I finally see…

Sango stopped and looked around her, people abrubtly started clapping, making Sango breathe a heavy sigh of relief. Sango walked back and was greeted by her friends, well the female ones.

"Sango you were great!"

"I knew you picked that song!"

The girls were so caught-up in fact, they didn't here someone's name in their group called, they didn't hear him walk on stage, but they sure as hell heard when he started to sing.

"This is for the girl who just came out here, hope she hears me."

Sango whirled around to see Miroku on stage, holding the microphone, poised to sing.

"Since the moment I spotted you

He now had Sango's full attention.

Sango smiled as her heart melted for the person on the stage, `God I love that pervert.'

Sango laughed at the truth in that last line.

Slowly I begin to realize this is never gonna end

Miroku's eyes set on Sango, he smiled before putting his head down, trying to hide the rising blush. He walked back to the stage, the minute he was behind the curtain, Sango hugged him for all she was worth. Miroku willingly accepted the embrase, for once, not grabbing Sango's backside. However, they jumped apart when they heard Kagome and Rin's combined `awes' and Inuyasha's gagging noise. Sesshomaru just kinda watched.

Sango blushed several shades of red, Miroku just held his dopey smile.

"Next up, Rin!" Rin smiled faintly, still sad about the whole Inuyasha/Kagome controversy.

"I linger in the doorway

Kagome smiled sadly at her friend, had she really brought Rin to depression?

Sesshomaru watched Rin, appearing impassive, but inside, turmoil broke out, he hated seeing bouncy little Rin like this. All well, he'd put an end to it soon.

The audience clapped loudly for her, she smiled sadly at them and walked off.

Sesshomaru couldn't take it anymore, he walked over to Rin and hugged her tight to him, "Don't worry, you'll feel better in no time.

"Sesshomaru! You're up!"

Inuyasha smiled, `This outta be good.'

Sesshomaru calmly walked on stage, and waited for the music to start, when it did, everyone was speechless. This was probably the most OOC thing Sesshy had ever done!

The crowd clapped loud, many girls giggled and waved, some went as far as trying to grab his leg when he went off stage. They only served in humiliating themselves of course. Rin met him halfway, not wasting time on words, she immediately kissed him with every ounce of love she had for him. Some girls in the audience `awed', some pouted. They guys made catcalls. The pair walked off. When they reached the back of the stage, every member of te group had they're mouth opened in shock. Sesshomaru shrugged it off, and decided to leave them guessing.

"Awe, lovers on the stage! Anyway, next up is Kagome!"

Kagome walked on stage and held the mike tightly, several guys in the audience catcalled and whistled.

"How can you see into my eyes like open doors

Kagome's eyes closed and her body relaxed.

As Kagome neared her song conclusion, she stole a glance at Inuyasha, who was staring, starry-eyed, at her.

While the music was still playing, Kagome walked off, giving her a mystical effect, especially because that's when the smoke machine decided to kick in. The crowd roared for her.

"Wow! Inuyasha, you're up!"

Inuyasha walked past her, determined not to crumble just yet. He approached the mike and held it loosely. He looked over to Kagome who was watching him, but trying to avert her eyes. He'd change that.

"A hundred days had made me older since the last time

that I saw your pretty face

I don't think I can look at this the same

But all the miles had separate

They disappeared now when I'm dreaming of your face

Inuyasha smiled, `A yes, my secret is out. People now know what I dream about.'

Kagome stared open mouthed, `Did he just say love?! Oh ya, this has to be for Kikyo.' That idea was dispelled when she saw Inuyasha make eye contact with her, a bond no one saw, but a bond everyone wanted.

All the girls screamed to him, who was the girl that captured the wild heart? Inuyasha paid no attention to the various feminine screams, his only business was with the girl behind the stage. Kagome looked near tears, she ran to Inuyasha right before he entered the back, no longer able to contain herself. She hugged him and he immediately hugged back. `God I love her scent,' Inuyasha thought. Before he knew what he was doing he had tilted Kagome's face up to meet his. Kagome looked surprised, but not unwilling.

Time stopped, they no longer heard the crowd, they no longer felt embarrassed, they no longer felt pain as their little sub-world shrunk to only accommodate them. They were only a breath away. Inuyasha looked into Kagome's eyes for any sign of rejection or uncertainty, he found none, only love and caring. Kagome locked eyes with Inuyasha, his beautiful amber eyes, normally hard and closed off, softened with an undying love for whomever could capture it. All she had to do, was move an inch further…
