Dear Diary

Chapter 4 - Paparazzi and Cars

This is my own original fanfic, though it was under my other username. Stupid me forgot the password so I can't access it anymore to upload more chapters. So I started again and tried to make it more interesting and make more fricking sense. (I couldn't even understand the damn thing and I wrote the bastard)
The great goddess Rumiko Takahashi owns Inuyasha and all the characters associated with him. I just have the fun of twisting the characters around my pinkie. LOL. Natalie Bassingthwaighte sings `Someday Soon', as I mentioned in the last chapter.

Hint for reading the story, anything in italic black is Kagome writing in her diary. “Talking” and `thinking' are seen as this and Kagome or someone singing will be a different colour and in italic as well. Hope this helps with the reading.

Dear Diary,
How many people would keep writing in here, if they had one of their own diaries that were pocket sized, if their bodyguard was sitting beside them? Not many of you I would bet. I've had to shove Dan away at least three times now and to be fucking honest with you, it's starting to get annoying.
Souta's game is meant to start in, like, ten minutes so I'm thinking of dragging out the shit that I bought them earlier. Maybe I should wait until half time and make them suffer. Would that be too nasty?
Dan would think so. He is already starting to think that I'm being nasty because I haven't offered them to the kids yet.
Gggrrr.

Souta appeared pretty much on que, stomping over to where Dan and I were sitting and shoving his hand in my face.

“Yes Souta?” I ask with fake sweetness, knowing that it would annoy him to the max.

“Hand over the candy,” was the only reply that I got as the rest of the team gathered around, eyes glistening, as they knew that I would have something.

“And what if I don't have any?”

“You always have some,” was the squeaking reply that Jason gave, his face blushing brightly as he said so. He was a little cutie, the smallest of the team though he was probably one of the oldest. His green eyes and rusty hair were always contrasting each other, some people having to look twice to make sure that he was a boy. He had been refused the ability to play before when the umpire thought he was a little girl. Everyone laughed about it, but we eventually convinced the umpire that he was wrong.

Now the umpire hated us and made us play harder for the points we deserved.

“Come on Kags,” Souta moaned, falling at my feet as if exhausted, “we really, really, really need the energy boost.”

“This coming from the boy that has been doing drills at home for god only knows how long this afternoon.”

I dragged the bag towards me as his teammates began to laugh at him, sitting around in a circle sort of shape. I grabbed out Dan and my own drinks, making sure that we were able to get our drinks before the rest of the kids dived in for the sugar rush that was awaiting them.

And dive they did.

If I had a video camera just then, I would have sent the video straight to funniest home videos and watched it when I needed a laugh.

They all wrestled around on the floor, each piling on each other as they fought for the bag. I knew that my bag would break one of these days, but for now, it was just funny to watch them wrestle around.

A couple of the parents were laughing behind us, watching their kids wrestle around for the normal treat. Dylan was hurrying over to us, as quickly as his overly frantic parents would let him. He was a diabetic and it had taken all the powers of persuasion to talk his parents into letting him join the team. He was a small boy, both in height and in weight. He had to pad himself up so his parents wouldn't worry about him breaking a bone or something.

His face was alight, knowing that I would have something stashed away for him. I had been careful what I had chosen for him, making sure that it was always concealed in something that looked like a water bottle. He wasn't allowed much like the rest of the team, but I always had something waiting for him.

`I love my parents,' he mentioned to me one day as we were both sitting on the sideline, watching the others run around the field, `but I just want to be treated like I'm normal sometimes. I'm a kid, not a porcelain doll.'

I knew how he felt.

Dan and I watched as the kids ate and drank, their eyes shining over as the game drew closer and closer. Just a few minutes and it would be starting. The other team was sitting over the other side of the field, eyeing off us all as we seemed relaxed. They were stretching as their coach yelled stuff at them, and they honestly looked so much like a fucking group of military people.

Whistle was blown, all the kids running out. Well the other team was running.

Souta and his mates were doing cartwheels and walking on their hands.

This was definitely going to be an interesting game.

Kohaku plonked down next to me suddenly, meaning that he and Kaede were finally here. Kaede would have headed straight over to where Mama and Gramps were, though I couldn't see any of them as I looked around. I shrugged, handing Kohaku the last bottle of V that was in the bag. He didn't drink much, handing it to me after a mouthful and offering me a swig. I took it, smirking as Dan commented about me not sleeping tonight.

“At least I wont be the only one not sleeping,” I laugh after I handed the drink back to Kohaku and watching the game silently again, “he wont be sleeping for a week at least.”

Everyone began laughing as the game progressed.

O.o O.o O.o

We won was the only thing that Souta would sing the whole way home, though I must give it to him (though I was going to get it later) that they played a good game. A really good game. And they were all fucking exhausted from it.

Dan and I were falling asleep the whole way home, the day catching up on us both. I knew that Souta had taken a picture of us, the flash on the camera being the tell tale sign. My head was resting on his shoulder, his arm around my back, while his chin was resting on my head; both of us had our eyes closed.

I hissed, rubbing my eyes after the flash, red rings attacking the darkness that had stolen me so willingly before.

“Little fucker,” I muttered out just soft enough for Mama to not hear, turning around and resting against Dan again. He was actually kind of comfy and I was taking full use of the sudden vulnerability.

More flashes were coming suddenly, my hand flying to whack Souta to make him stop.

“Its not me,” he screams, obviously being annoyed by the flashes himself.

“Fuck,” I scream, snapping awake and covering my face.

If it wasn't Souta, then it could only be one thing.

The fucking paparazzi were back again, taking their happy snaps and nearly blinding everyone in the car.

They had trapped Mama at a red light, surrounding the car. How they knew that we were there, I wouldn't have a clue. All I know is that everyone was getting snapped at, the flashes blinding us all. Mama couldn't drive away, fearing that she would run over someone. We had been in this situation before, though Dan was driving and he didn't hesitate to drive over the top of people. Mama had yelled at him when he did, but was thankful afterwards.

“Drive Mama,” I scream at her, leaning forward and staring at her, “get away from them.”

“I cant without running anyone over,” she whined, eyes screwed shut and hands tightly clenching the steering wheel.

“Fuck,” I screamed, climbing over the top of Souta and barely avoiding Dan's hands as he grabbed for me. He knew what I was about to do and he knew how it would end.

I opened the door quickly, successfully hitting at least three of the happy snappers. They crumpled to the ground with a shout, their cameras being held tightly to their chests. Some of their friends or colleagues rushed to help them, the others snapping the whole thing. No doubt that this would be on the news tomorrow night.

I pushed through the rest of the crowd, parting them as I tried to lure them away from the car. Mama knew that I was doing this on purpose, stopping Dan from getting out of the car. They sped off as soon as they could, ties screeching on the pavement.

One thing that I will say about this scenario, I have been in it one too many times.

My shoes began to slip off as I ran, hopping along for a few seconds to take them off before bolting again. I could still see the flashes in the corner of my eyes, listening to the questions that were yet again following me. it was only a few hours ago that this had happened.

I hate being famous

My feet carried me farther away, though into more trouble at the same time.

O.o O.o O.o

Panting was the only way that my breath would come to me, my hands on my knees as I pressed my arse to the wall behind me. I had been running for nearly twenty minutes, finally able to lose the fucking arseholes that were chasing me. I had no idea where I was, though I knew I was nowhere near the Shrine.

Should I call Dan?

My phone buzzed in my pocket, letting me know that I was getting a phone call. Grabbing it from my skirt quickly, I looked at the unknown number before answering.

“Hello?”

“Where are you little miko?”

“How the fuck did you get this number Sesshomaru?”

“That is none of your concern,” was his cool reply, and in my mind eye I could imagine him inspecting his nails, “what is your concern is that this Sesshomaru received a distressed phone call from Lady Kaede and asked me to find you. So, again, where are you little miko?”

“I don't know.”

“Look around. What do you see?”

“Darkness.”

“Is that all?”

“Yes.”

“Very well,” he sighed, obviously thinking that I was trying to keep information from him so he couldn't find me, “if you don't want to be found…”

“I'm dead serious Sesshomaru. I can't see anything but darkness.”

“Do you remember any of the street names that you ran through?”

“No.”

“Find somewhere to stay,” he says quickly, “make sure that you are out of trouble as well.”

“Hai Sessho-.”

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Fucking prick hang up on me.

Sliding my phone back into my pocket, I looked around. No one was there.

Snapping my fingers, I pulled some of the hidden miko powers that Kaede had began teaching me all those years ago, using the tiniest amount to keep some light near me. Just quietly, the darkness had never been my friend. Something bad always happened in the darkness and that is one of the reasons why I was so agitated right now.

I don't know how long I was sitting there in the silence, the night seeming to form a tightly closed box around me. I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay where I was, sitting in the silence. I wanted to sing, wanted to make some noise, make the darkness disappear.

`Fuck it' I thought to myself, getting comfortable before I began thinking of a song to sing. Remembering the one from in the car earlier, I began to sing it.

Someday soon you're gonna catch that dream you've been chasing
They're gonna write your name in the sky
Someday Soon
Someday Soon
Someday Soon
Someday Soon

Out there in the air tonight
It's electric, it's alive
Suddenly you can see right before your eyes
A thousand candles burning bright

Someday soon
You're gonna catch that dream you've been chasing
Someday soon
They're gonna write your name in the sky
All you need is just to believe it
You know you're my hero
You're gonna be a star tonight

Inside feel your heart ignite
It's your time to arrive
Suddenly you can see that it's possible
And I'll be right here by your side

Someday soon
You're gonna catch that dream you've been chasing
Someday soon
They're gonna write your name in the sky
All you need is just to believe it
You know you're my hero
You're gonna be a star tonight

Take a step
One moment
Closer to the magic
It's just one heartbeat away
Don't give up
Embrace it
Breathe it in
Believe it
You know the way

Someday soon
You're gonna catch that dream you've been chasing, yeah
Someday soon
They're gonna write your name in the sky
All you need is just to believe it
You know you're my hero
You're gonna be a star tonight

Someday soon
You're gonna catch that dream you've been chasing
Someday soon
They're gonna write your name in the sky
All you need is just to believe it
You know you're my hero
You're gonna be a star tonight

“At least you haven't lost your voice little miko,” Sesshomaru's voice floats past me, seeming to be a part of the wind that was travelling then as well.

I scrambled up, spinning around and facing him. The only change from when I saw him this afternoon is that his suit had been dropped, white-blue jeans and a white shirt standing in their place. He looked better this way, seeming less like a dick shit and a tight arse.

“How about we get you home little miko?” he asks, opening the passenger side door for me on a sleek midnight blue convertible, sweeping his arm with a slight bow to me, “your Mama must be getting worried about you.”

Biting my lip, I walk over and slide into the seat, watching as Sesshomaru closed the door behind me and walked around the front to climb into the drivers seat. He slid in; giving me one last look before we slowly drove off, carefully making our way through the crowded streets. It was slow and painful, my lip becoming bruised as I continued to chew on it.

But something told me that this was sooooo not the fastest the car could go.

“Do you wish to go straight home,” Sesshomaru asked, giving me a sideways glance as we stopped as lights, “or do you wish to see the town quickly first?”

“Normally,” I reply, looking at him fully, “I would have refused to get in the car with you. But it's kinda boring.”

“Speed and the town it is,” he replied, cutting me off and smirking slightly. It almost seemed like…

Like he knew that I was going to say that.

I opened my mouth to say something, but the car leapt away, wind stealing the words from my mouth.

We were flying down a road, thankfully a straight road. Both Sesshomaru's and mine hair was streaming out behind us, my eyes starting to water as the wind blew into them. Something landed on my lap, making me jump slightly as I looked down at it.

Sunglasses?

Purple tainted sunglasses?

I looked over at Sesshomaru to see that he, too, had a pair on. His were tainted yellow, though I guess I should have picked up on that. Laughing at his expression, I slid them over my eyes, surprised when I could still see perfectly.

“They are only designed to keep the wind from your eyes,” he yells over the wind, though he might have well not even tried, “and this Sesshomaru had different colours if you don't like those ones.”

“It's cool,” I yell back, turning back to the front and laughing as the wind continued to whip through my hair, “actually, this is fucking awesome.”

He smirked

I know that you are all you Sess lovers are thinking that you could either get in the car with the god himself (drooldrooldrool) or why the hell I suddenly changed his personality.

I changed Sesshomaru because I want him to seem like he is tense and alert when working, but when he isn't, he can be a totally awesome bloke.

((A totally awesome, drop-dead-sexy bloke)) >.<

Yes, I'm an Aussie chick. I do use the slang that I've known since I could talk. If you don't quite get what I'm talking about, then please, feel free to email me and I'll (do my best) to translate it all for you.

Hope you are all enjoying the story, its getting better I think

Read and review please.
