InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ High School Diary ❯ Broken ( Chapter 10 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
The next morning Sango awoke with the sun streaming into her face. She was just about to pull the covers back over her head and go back to sleep when she remembered what Rin had said to her. Groaning she tossed off her blanket and sat up letting her feet dangle off the side of the bed. After glancing at her clock which read eleven o’clock in the morning she sighed thinking how she would never get up that early on a weekend again. She looked around her room at the various band posters, wall scrolls, and random posters littering her dark purple walls thinking how weird everything was now and how much worse it was going to get. Sighing loudly she stretched, placing her feet into her slippers and proceeded to go get some breakfast before telling Inuyasha about his brother.
“ Might as well get it over with..” She thought as she made her way towards the kitchen.
Once she got to the kitchen she began to rummage through the fridge and at one point she was so caught up in her thoughts she must’ve spaced out because suddenly she heard a light chuckle come from behind her. She popped her head up and looked behind her to see Minako looking at her with a small grin.
“ Well, Good Morning,” she said with a laugh “ You three certainly got in late last night.”
“ It wasn’t that late.” Sango said grabbing the milk carton out of the fridge.
“ True,” she responded sitting down at the kitchen counter “ Where did you all go anyway?”
“ The Paradise.”
“ Really?” she asked surprised “ It’s quite the local hang out.”
“ Yeah well,” she said grabbing a cereal box from the cabinet after she grabbed a bowl and sat down “ Miroku told us about it.”
Minako reached into the draw behind her and grabbed a spoon then handed it to Sango. Sango thanked her as she began to pour her cereal into the bowl, just as she was pouring her milk Minako spoke up again.
“ Miroku Kobayashi?”
“ I guess that’s his last name.” She responded eating a spoonful of cereal.
“ I know his parents, his mother is a very lovely woman despite the fact that his stepfather is a complete asshole. I swear he tried to hit in me once.”
Sango almost spit out her cereal when she said that, the look on Sango’s face must of been quite hilarious because Minako started to laugh.
“ Sorry, I just didn’t expect you to say that.” Sango said swallowing the cereal she was going to spit out.
“ People surprise you,” she said with a grin “ Now, about Miroku he’s a nice boy but a bit of a pervert. Some of his stepfather must have rubbed off on him.”
“ Maybe.” She said softly not really paying attention to what she was saying.
“ Well, you are very calm this morning. Are you feeling alright?”
“ I’m fine,” she said taking another spoonful of cereal “ We also went with Ayame and some friends of Kohaku’s.”
“ Ah yes, nice girls. The albino one is a little scary though, does she ever wear anything else besides white?”
“ Not that I have seen.”
“ Well, anyway Ayame Nakamura?”
“ Yep.” She responded.
“ Nice girl, and her grandfather is such a sweetheart. She’s also a really good dancer I went over for a visit once and her grandfather showed me a video of her dancing she is extremely talented.”
“ I’ll bet.”
“ Well, It’s great you and Inuyasha are making friends. Anyone else?”
After Sango quickly fininshed off the rest of her cereal she got up and began to put everything back then she began to think if she should tell her about Kagome. After all, Kagome just happened to hang out with them and it wasn’t like she was invited and even though she wasn’t as bad as Sango thought she was, there was just something she still didn’t seem to like about her. She did decide to be nice to her because she wasn’t being a snot but still.
“ Sango?” Minako asked while she put her empty cereal bowl into the sink.
“ Well, we met up with her royal highness later on.”
“ Kagome Higarashi.”
“ How did you know?” She asked sitting back down.
“ Well, whenever you refer to her you call her Princess, so I figured that was her.”
“ I don’t remember ever talking with you about her.”
“ Because you didn’t .”
“ You got spies or suttin?”
“ Of course not,” she answered with a smile “ But I do have my ways.”
“ Right.” She said giving her a look.
“ Whelp, we better talk later, and by the way as long as you are not back ridiculously late and if you are going to be and you call I won’t set you a specified curfew not sure what Kenji would think but whatever. You both seem responsible enough to handle it, your brother will be getting a curfew though since he’s only a sophomore but I’ve already spoken with him about that .”
“ Okay.” Sango responded kind of confused about why she brought that up.
“ Oh and could you perhaps persuade your brother to hang out with Shippo?”
“ Why?”
“ Well, he’s very shy and doesn’t have too many friends and your brother is quite the socialite and Shippo is a very hard worker. If they hang out maybe they can rub off on each other.”
Sango considered this for a moment, Shippo was Minako’s adopted son. She only had one real son which no one ever spoke of, it was really strange whenever her real son was brought up everyone would go dead silent or quickly change the subject. Sango and Inuyasha never really stressed about it though but apparently after whatever happened with the son, Minako just suddenly wanted to adopt some kids or so they were told. Shippo was a freshman, he was very shy but also extremely adorable, he was average height for his age, a little pale with reddish-auburn hair and turquoise eyes. He would definitely be a girl magnet if he didn’t come off as such a nerd. He went to the private school along with his adopted sister Shiori who was adopted the same time as Shippo and then there was Nazuna whom Sango referred to as the spoiled bitch. Shiori was a lot like Shippo, she was shy and kept to herself a lot but she also was a very pretty girl, she was a freshman as well, a little shorter than Shippo and had shoulder-length black hair, tan skin, and lovely violet eyes. Sango had only been at her now current home for a little over a summer and she could tell that Shiori avoided all human contact and you rarely saw her out of her room. Minako tried to get Nazuna to hang out with her but that was a no go, she even asked her and Inuyasha but it all failed. In the end when Minako couldn’t even get her to talk to anyone at all including herself, she sent Shiori to therapy once a week and that was the end of it. Nazuna who was also adopted was the worst, from the moment Inuyasha, Kohaku and Sango walked through the door she had done nothing but given them attitude. She had this personality that just made you want to kill her, she avoided Inuyasha, Sango, and Kohaku like the plague and when she did have to talk to them she was nothing but rude and snotty. Nazuna was decent looking, she was fair skinned, with short black hair, coffee brown eyes, she was slightly shorter that Sango and a junior in high school. Sango was honestly surprised she lasted as long as she did without punching Nazuna in the face. All together Minako had three adopted children, three foster children, and one blood related son that no one ever mentioned. Living with five other kids wasn’t so bad if you are rich, live in a huge mansion, and didn’t even have to see them on a regular basis. But Sango liked the idea of Shippo and Kohaku hanging out, Shippo could help Kohaku reach his goals, and Kohaku could help Shippo not to be so boring. As long as it didn’t involve Nazuna she was all for it.
“ I’ll see what I can do.” She said leaning against the sink.
“ Great,” she responded glancing up at the kitchen clock “ Well, I better get back to work.”
“ You work on a Saturday?”
“ Yes, but only until about three o’clock today.” She said getting up and heading towards the kitchen door.
“ Oh.”
“ Well, I’ll talk to you later and I forgot to ask. Are those comfortable?” she asked pointing to Sango’s favorite pair a black boxers she had slept in.
“ Very.”
“ Guess, I’ll have to get some,” she said with a grin “ Toodles.”
Once Minako walked off Sango shook her head, not really getting at all what had just happened.
“ What a strange woman.” She whispered.
Minako had proved to be a decent foster mom, she was certainly a lot nicer then of the other ones Sango had had but she was so open the way she spoke. She didn’t talk down to her like most adults did, although something about her was a little off. Sango sighed and knew she would never figure that woman out. After a deep breath she left the kitchen ready to tell Inuyasha. She was worried about the effect the news would have on him and that’s why she was avoiding it for so long. Inwardly she hoped that he wasn’t at the pool because he either went swimming or sat in his room with the door locked, his headphones on, and drew pretty disturbing pictures when he was depressed, angry, or just not in a good mood. Sango knew it was his way of venting his frustrations, but his last foster parents hadn’t seen it that way and became scared of him after discovering pictures he drew of Kikyo being killed, which would seem scary to a lot of people but that’s how Inuyasha did things, it was his way of coping when things went bad. They didn’t understand him so that eventually led him to his next home. Since it was kind of chilly outside, she went to look for him at the indoor pool. Once she got there she was relieved to not find Inuyasha there but wanted to hurl when she saw Nazuna sitting in a beach chair off to the other side of the pool with one of her friends. Once Nazuna noticed Sango was standing by the door she shot her a look which instantly made her friend stare at her.
“ What do you want?” Nazuna asked hotly.
“ I’m looking for Inuyasha,” she said as calmly as possible “ Have you seen him?”
“ No, why would I know where that loser is? Why don’t you two go back to your orphan lives then you’ll know exactly where to find each other.”
“ Nazuna, why don’t you just shut the fuck up with your little jealous rant and tell me where Inuyasha is!” Sango responded pissed off at her disgusting response.
Nazuna was about to retort again when her friend who was clearly freaked out and could tell she just wanted it to stop spoke up.
“ I know where he is.” piped up her friend “ I think he’s in the living room.”
“ Mayu!” she screamed at her friend while giving her a dirty look “ Don’t help that loser.”
“ I’m sorry” She stammered suddenly looking scared.
“ Thanks anyway.” Sango said loudly then turned around and headed towards the living room while hearing the faint sound of Nazuna chewing out her friend for helping her.
Sango rolled her eyes hoping one day that someone would give Nazuna a reality check and hoping that she’d be the one to do it. She made her way through the house, mentally cursing whomever decided to make the house so big until she finally got to the living room to see Inuyasha laying on the sofa working on a sketch. Sango walked up the the sofa and looked over him, wanting to scare him.
“ What are you thinking about?” She asked as Inuyasha jumped.
“ Geez Sang! You scared the shit outta me!”
“ Sorry Sorry,” she said with a grin “ Move over!”
Inuyasha sat up as she plopped down on the sofa and stared at the ceiling. She began to think of how she was going to tell him.
“ Damn.” she thought to herself “ Might as well just come out with it I guess.”
Inuyasha closed his sketch book suddenly becoming concerned. Sango was never a happy person by nature but this silence was unnerving him. He looked over at her then waved his hand in front of her face to try to snap her out of her daze.
“ Earth to Sango!” He said loudly.
“ Huh? What?” She said snapping out of her trance.
“ Are you okay?”
“ I have something to tell you.” She said looking at him seriously.
“ Okay.” he said careful becoming worried.
“It has to do with last night.”
“ Finally, decided to tell me what was bothering you last nigh huh?” he said nudging her with his elbow “ Took you long enough.”
“ Yeah well...” She said trailing off.
“ Hey, What’s going on? Is this serious?” He said looking at her.
“ Not for me, it has to do with you.”
“ Me?” He asked confused.
“ Remember when I took so long in the bathroom?”
“ Yeah?” He asked not quite understanding where exactly she was going with it.
“ I was talking with Rin, she wanted me to tell you some things.”
“ What? Like what?”
Inuyasha was throughly confused, he was thinking about what could Rin possibly tell Sango that would mean anything to him when after thinking it over for a second, he realized it probably had to do with Sesshomaru. Inuyasha insatntly paled as Sango took a deep breath not knowing if she should just come out with it or telling him piece by piece.
“ Sango,” he started not looking at her “ Just tell me.”
Then suddenly before she could stop herself she told Inuyasha everything. About Jaylynn, his father’s will, Sesshomaru, everything just spilled out. She began to talk faster not looking at him and just as she finished she took a deep breath partly worried about Inuyasha yet partly happy that she was finally able to get all of that out. When Inuyasha didn’t respond she looked over at him, he had a very serious look on his face which really had her worried.
“ Inuyasha?” She asked quietly.
“ Why didn’t you tell me this last night?”
“ It was late, and I didn’t want to ruin your night.”
“ Don’t lie, you were afraid of how I would react.” He said in monotone.
“ Well, that too.”
“ Was that all she told you?”
“ Yeah, she gave me Jaylynn’s information and hers. If you call Jaylynn and set up an appointment Rin said she’ll tell you what’s going on.”
“ Well were is it?”
“ In my room.”
Inuyasha got up and immediately headed for the stairs, Sango instantly followed suit until they got to her room. Inuyasha stood by her door as she entered then headed for her desk draw and pulled out the papers that the information was written on.
“ He doesn’t live that far from here.” He said staring at Rin’s address then before Sango could say anything he walked out of her room and back downstairs.
Sango continued to follow until they reached the kitchen as Inuyasha grabbed the phone off the hook and began to dial Jaylynn’s number.Sango stood to the side waiting until while Inuyasha waited for someone to pick up. He was very on edge and extremely angry only he just didn’t want to show it, instead he wanted find out what was going on. Sango didn’t really know what to do, she would’ve felt better if he at least freaked out but he wasn’t yelling or anything he was just so calm. Sango could tell he was just about to lose his patience when suddenly he began to speak.
“ Hello, I need to speak with Jaylynn. It’s important.” He said into the phone.
Suddenly, Inuyasha became silent so Sango automatically assumed he was on hold when he pushed the speaker button and hung up the phone. Sango looked at him confused of why he would do this when he answered her silent question.
“ I want you to listen.” He said just as someone same back on the line.
“ I’m sorry sir, Miss Yoshida is currently unavailable. Can I take a message?”
Sango looked at Inuyasha who just could hold back his anger anymore and before he even realized it, a low growl emitted from his throat scaring Sango and probably the secretary.
“ I don’t want to leave a damn message! Tell that bitch that Inuyasha Taisho is calling and her ass better pick up the phone!!”
“ Uhm- I- just a minute sir."
“ Tch, the secretary is such a fucking pushover.” He said clearly disgusted she hadn’t put up much of a fight.
He was only on hold for five minutes before they heard a click and the sound of a sugary sweet voice on the line.
“ Inu, honey!! How are you?”
“ Jaylynn, what the hell is going on?” He asked getting right to the point.
“ Why Inu whatever do you mean?”
“ Don’t give me that bullshit!! You know damn well what I’m talking about!”
“ Very well, come to my office today around four o’clock and we’ll talk then. I’m quite busy though so I can’t chat. Ciao darling.”
“ Jaylynn!!” he yelled just as the sound of a dial tone hit their ears. “ God, damn it!!”
Knowing Inuyasha was too distracted she reached over and hit the speaker button to hang up the phone.
“ So, we should probably got get ready.”
Without responding Inuyasha turned on his heel and was about to walk away when he felt a hand grip his arm. He quickly spun around to see a very irritated looking Sango.
“ Hey!” she yelled at him “ Don’t fucking ignore me Inuyasha! I’m trying to help, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you yesterday but you were having fun, you seemed happy for once. So excuse me for not wanting to ruin that!”
“ I know,” he said quietly “ I’m not mad at you about that.”
“ Oh, Jaylynn really struck a nerve huh?” She said letting go of his arm.
“ Yeah, I actually thought she tried to help me, but I should’ve known. Sesshomaru and her grew up together. Her loyalty would lie with him.”
“ You don’t know that for sure,” she sighed, then suddenly getting a great idea “ Besides, I have an idea.”
“ Okay, I’m officially scared.”
“ Shut up.” she said punching his arm relieved he was at least joking around now. “ Come on.”
Without another word Sango began to walk towards the stairs, after pausing for a second Inuyasha followed suit.
“ Sango where are we going?”
“ You’ll see.” she said walking down the hall.
Just as Inuyasha was about to tell Sango something she stopped causing Inuyasha to almost walk into her.
“ Whoa,” he said looking at the door they were in front of “ Hey, Why are we at Minako’s office?”
“ Shh..” She said silencing him while she quietly opened the door.
Sango opened the door to reveal a huge office. There were two huge bookcases on either side of the room, the walls and carpet both were a matching light brown, and at the end of the room their was a huge desk littered with papers and a really nice computer. Sango thought it was strange she’d had never even been in Minako’s office before but suddenly snapped back to reality when she realized that she had a job to do. She looked up at the chair that was facing towards the large windows behind the desk, she could hear Minako yelling at someone on the phone from where she stood, then without another thought Inuyasha and her walked through the door then closed the slammed the door behind her making sure it was loud enough so Minako would be aware of their presence. Inuyasha still wasn’t sure what Sango was up to but the door slam got the desired effect she was hoping for and Minako spun around in her chair, the phone still attached to her ear looking quite shocked when she saw who is was.
“ Carl, I’m going to have to call you back.” she said into the phone “ I don’t care about what happened!! It’s your screw up so you better fix it!”
After Minako hung the phone up she stared at the two teens standing in her doorway, both still in there pajamas, both looking a little worried.
“ Why are you staring at us?” Sango asked when she noticed.
“ Oh, Sorry,” she said folding her hands on her desk “ What can I do for you?”
“ That’s what I would like to know.” Inuyasha said ready to know why Sango dragged him up to Minako’s office.
Shooting Inuyasha a glance she plastered on a fake smile causing Minako to get a little scared because she had rarely seen Sango smile.
“ Do you know anyone by the name of Jaylynn Yoshida?”
Minako and Inuyasha both had the same looks on their faces, that of complete and utter shock. Minako didn’t expect that question and Inuyasha sure didn’t expect Sango to ask Minako about her. Inuyasha didn’t want Minako knowing anything about his family, at least no more than she already did.
“ Well, I certainly didn’t expect that question.”
“ You going to answer it anyway?”
“ Of course Sango,” she said with a pause “ She’s actually one of the best lawyers in Japan. The woman is quite impressive, not only is she a lawyer but she works as an accountant, and donates to charities on a regular basis. She graduated high school by the age fourteen, she was first in her class throughout high school, college, law school, the whole nine yards. Guys want her, girls want to be her and to think she’s done all this and is only twenty-six years old.”
“ I didn’t know all that.” Inuyasha said suddenly.
“ Oh yes,” she said “ Apparently, there’s a huge rumor about her being involved with some yokel my company recently hired.”
“ You don’t know who it is?” Sango asked surprised.
“ No, I only deal with those appointed to talk to me directly, other than that my business partner handles everything else. I think he’s the Vice President in my original company. The one closest to here, I have others in Kyoto, Osaka, pretty much all around Japan. Why the sudden interest in Jaylynn Yoshida?”
“ She’s Inuyasha’s family’s lawyer.”
“ Oh, Really?” she asked surprised “ I did not know that.”
“ How do you know so much about her?” Inuyasha asked very annoyed.
“ I have to know my husband’s competition. They are both battling for the top spot, and with my connections I can dig up the dirt. Although, I couldn’t find much only about her life really not about who her clients are or else I would have been well aware of this.”
“ Yeah, there’s been a problem with the will Inuyasha’s father had left.”
Before Minako could respond Inuyasha took Sango by the arm pushing her to another side of a bookcase so they couldn’t be seen.
“ What the hell do you think you’re doing?” He asked quietly.
“ I’m seeing if she can help.”
“ We don’t fucking need her help.” He said with a low growl.
“ Inuyasha get your head out of your ass for one second and get a fucking reality check!” She yelled.
“ What exactly is that suppose to mean?” He answered glaring daggers at her.
“ It means now if something does go wrong she can help us. Kenji our foster father is battling for the top spot with Jaylynn meaning if something goes wrong we have a solid person helping us get past this. Think about it, if this situation is extreme and they are aware of it they can help you, they can fight for you. I’m probably not explaining this too well but what if whatever is the problem ends up with you leaving, or worse. I’ll be damned before I let that happen.”
“ I see,” he said suddenly feeling guilty about what he said “ What makes you think they’ll even bother to help us?”
“ I just know okay, and besides we don’t have any other choice. If shit goes wrong we need a back up plan and Minako and her trophy husband are that back up plan.”
“ Trophy husband?”
“ Come on, like you hadn’t noticed that Minako is the trophy wife and Kenji is the trophy husband and that’s how come they aren’t divorced yet. Kenji’s never home and most of the time Minako’s always working.”
“ I don’t know, my parents were like that and they always seemed in love to me.”
“ I know.” she said surprised because Inuyasha hardly ever talked about his parents since they died.
Sango stepped out from the other side of the bookcase to see a very worried looking Minako still sitting at her desk with her hands folded. Inuyasha was behind Sango and now leaning against the door refusing to look at her. Sango stepped forward and this time decided to sit in one of the chairs in front of her desk.
“ Everything okay?” She asked.
“ Fine,” Sango responded “Now as I was saying....”
Sango proceeded to tell Minako what she knew and she listened very closely ever so often looking up at Inuyasha who was silent the entire time looking very distraught. Once Sango was finished Minako instantly turned on the computer and began to search through her files.
“ What are you doing?”
“ Looking for some information on Inuyasha’s brother.”
“ Half brother.” Inuyasha mumbled from the door.
“ Sorry, half brother.”She said with a tiny grin.
“ You find anything yet?” Sango asked.
“ Almost,” she said continuing to type away at the computer “ Oh shit...”
“ What?”
“ Well, apparently he moved into this area last year because his job was moving him around until he quit and few months ago because he got a new position that paid more.”
“ You got all that from a search?”
“ No, from his file.”
“ Why would you have his file?”
“ Well, you know that yokel my company recently hired?”
“What!?!” Inuyasha said launching himself at the desk.
“ Calm down Inuyasha.” she said calmly “ I didn’t know.”
“ God damn it!!!” he yelled punching the desk “ There’s no getting rid of him now.”
“ I assure you whatever happens you have our full support.”
“ Thank you,” Sango said standing “ That’s all we needed.”
Sango grabbed Inuyasha and pulled him away from the desk, and to the door and just as they opened the door they heard Minako speak.
“ If you guys ever need to talk, I’m here.”
They looked at her for a second, nodded in understanding and left the room. Sango pulled Inuyasha down the hall ready to find out what everything was really all about.
“ I can’t believe this!” Inuyasha screamed “ What the hell is that bastard up to anyway?”
“ I don’t know, but we’re gonna find out.” she said dragging him to his room.
Once they reached Inuyasha’s room door, Sango opened it with her free hand and shoved Inuyasha inside. Inuyasha turned around and looked at her rather confused at why she was so fired up all of a sudden.
“ Get dressed, then no matter what time it is we are going to see Jaylynn. No harm in being early.”
Then before Inuyasha could say anything Sango slammed the door in his face leaving him to get ready. After sighing in defeat he walked over to his dresser and began to search to find something to wear. Right when he found a pair of black jeans and a plain red shirt, he stood up removing his shirt and looked into the mirror that hung on his wall. He stared into it for a moment gazing at the white scar on his left shoulder that his brother gave him when he was younger. Slowly, he started hear the sounds of that day when they were suppose to play a harmless game of truth or dare which turned into the first real fight they’d ever really been in, it happened the same year his parents died. Inuyasha stared into the mirror hating the person he saw in front of him and before he even knew what he was doing he plunged his fist into the mirror causing it to shatter and as the broken pieces littered the floor he watched the blood run down his hand feeling something he told himself he never wanted to feel again, absolutely helpless.
“ Damn you Sesshomaru.”
A/n: Sorry if this chapter is boring..I'm trying my best...thanks for the kickass reviews! You guys rock!
