*Chapter 3*

 

Kikyo cradled the Shikon no Tama in her hands. This necklace is the cause of all her suffering and heartbreak. One day she hope it will disappear so that she can finally break free from the chain that is holding her back. InuYasha the man she dreamt of to be with someday. He is married yet if he ask her to be his mistress she would gladly accept.

 

"Lady Kikyo" an apprentice miko called out

"Yukisha, what is wrong?"

"A messenger from the palace came today he wanted me to give this to you"

"Thank you Yukisha, you may now take your leave"

"Hai"

Kikyo smiled as the young child ran off to practice her miko skills somewhere. She opened the scroll and began to read the bold Japanese letters printed on it.

 

YOU ARE INVITED TO CELEBRATE WITH THE KING AND HIS QUEEN AS A SIGN OF THANKING THE GODS FOR BRINGING EACH ONE IN EACH OTHERS ARMS. AT THE FALL OF THIS YEAR THE KING AND HIS QUEEN WILL MATE. LET US REJOICE!

 

She dropped the scroll silently saying that all she read wasn't true. That InuYasha isn't going to be Queen Kagome's mate. She smiled sadly, why a king would choose her as his mate that she nor he doesn't even know when this miko will be free from the task she ought to do.

 

'I wish you your happiness InUYasha' she thought painfully

 

 

In the palace InuYasha is in his room silently thinking about what would Kikyo's reaction be. He hoped that she will understand everything. That these things are for her own safety. He cannot take it if she dies because of him.

"Your highness" his ever faithful servant called out

"Jaken come in"

"You called mi'lord?"

"Yes,please prepare we are leaving"

"But the celebration is tonight, are you going to ditch the Queen?" "

"What makes you say that toad?"

"Uhmm nothing sire"

"Please do prepare now, I don't want anybody catching me while sneaking out"

"Hai"

 

Kagome watched as Sango combed her hair. She smiled a bit yet this didn't go without

getting unnoticed by Sango.

"Kagome I'm glad your old self is returning"

"What old self Sango?"

"Kagome didn't you notice that you are smiling just now"

"Sango-"

"Kagome your are the princess that I will serve with my whole life, and it hurt me a lot you being cold hearted, will you try to get over about the things that happened so many years ago, you are not anymore in the human realm"

"Sango I'm trying but I'll take it slow...I just can't rush it, what happened to me in the past is not the thing

I could easily forget"

"I understand but please do try"

"Promise"

"Thank you mi'lady"

Kagome smiled

 

InuYasha successfully sneaked out, he went to Kikyo's temple and found her in the gazebo the only spot that is secluded

in the entire temple. Sensing his presence the young miko looked up to him with a sad smile. He swear when he saw tears streaming

down her cheeks. He went up to her and hugged the miko as tightly as he could.

"I'm sorry"

"I know InuYasha and I understand why you did all these things"

"I'm glad you did Kikyo"

"All I wanted you to know is that despite you choosing her over me I still love you"

"I'm very thankful for having you in my life, but Kikyo I hate to say this, that ones I

mate with Kagome I can never see you ever again"

Kikyo smiled and cried harder

InuYasha let go of her and turned his back preparing to take his leave. He doesn't want to see her tearful eyes and hurt feeling.

"Good-bye Kikyo, I will always remember you forever with no end"

"Me too InuYasha" she whispered

As InuYasha left, Kikyo went onto her knees and cried.

 

That night the celebration was held. Yet Kagome could sense the her young inu hanyou husband is not enjoying everything.

"Milord are you alright?"

"I'm fine Kagome I'm just tired from all the work"

Kagome could've believe his lie yet he followed his gaze and it landed to Kikyo who too was staring at him with longing.

Being the understanding wife Kagome said "Do you want to be with her tonight?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Milord I understand how you are feeling right now, I already took you away from her now is the chance that I could at least do

a little thing inorder to mend your broken hearts"

"I can't do that what will the youkais think"

Kagome giggled "InuYasha, I will be fine just don't get caught and everything will be good as if nothing happened"

"Are you sure?"

"Yea" Kagome smiled

InuYasha left his seat and thank God nobody noticed him. He drags Kikyo out and made it somewhere that no one could see them.

"Sigh!"

Kagome can't help but feel inferior to Kikyo. Her heart clenched every time she agrees to let InuYasha see with the miko. She stood up silently and retired to her room.

"Kagome are you alright?"

"I'm fine Sango"

"Don't lie to me, I am your bestfriend"

"Nothing Sango, I just wanted to go out of this palace and walk somewhere"

"Do you want me to accompany you"

Kagome nodded as Sango packed their things hurriedly.

"Sango please don't forget to bring my flute"

"Yes your highness"

 

 

InuYasha came back to the palace by dawn and noticed that the celebration is over. He and Kikyo finally had time

to atleast let each other understand further in their current situation, now all he have to do is thank Kagome for the oppurtunity

she has given them. It's raining hard and he wandered if Kagome is already awake. He stopped in his tracks when he saw Kagome on

The courtyard soaking wet. She's coming up to her room, it's seems that she too went out for a walk that night. But he can't help but feel worried. His queen held again those cold look in her eyes that he thought must have vanished when he courted her.

 

"Kagome" Sango called out worriedly

"Why do you have to do that, you only told me you want to play the flute"

"Sango stupid things must be done inorder to succeed"

"But your father..."

"I don't need him anymore"

"Is that because you are suffering the same fate as your mother"

"I don't care Sango, it's still his fault"

"Will you let the king know about this"

"He doesn't need to know anything about this"

Inuyasha continued to listen and he was shocked to know that Kagome doesn't want him to know about

her hardships and worries a perfect proof that she doesn't trust him. But he is going to make her trust him as much as he has trusted her now.

 

InuYasha didn't visit Kagome the whole day. The queen wondered why but she ignored the feeling that he must be up with something. Dogs are sneaky so that's why she must be careful with her husband.

 

That night Kagome was writing a poem, she assured Sango that she would sleep and not tire her self. Kagome was about to put out the

lamp when InuYasha called out her name. She let him in and settle.

"What brings you here your highness?"

"I was worried about you Kagome"

"Worried about me?"

"Did you meet up with your father last night?"

"How'd you know?"

"answer me"

"Yes" she whispered

He lifted her chin and made her face him, without warning InuYasha crashed his lips on hers.

"What are you doing InuYasha?" Kagome asked as InuYasha took off the first layer of her kimono

"I'm doing what a queen should deserve in her nuptial night" he trailed kisses down her neck and Kagome gave

undress her kimono.

 

Kagome who is engulfed with heat and passion started to undress InuYasha. When they were finally undressed. He kissed

The next day was a blast. The demons around the palace and heck even those who were out knew

that the king and the queen mated last night. None of them thought that it is very early since they knew that the young king is aggressive. That morning Sango felt pressure on her back already being the handmaid to the queen she was the one who is asked frequently about questions. Poor Sango all she could is ran away.

 

"What's wrong?" Kagome laughed

Sango can't help but smile at Kagome's fast change. She used to have those cold looks but now laughters and smiles

have replaced them.

"Hey I asked you what's wrong?"

"Well those other handmaids asked me what you're feelings are when you mated with the king"

Kagome blushed "That doesn't need to be asked"

"That's what I told them, but they still insisted"

"Did you tell them?"

"Ofcourse not"

"Thank goodness"

 

InuYasha was sitting in his table. He continued to think about him mating with Kagome. It wasn't that bad at all

maybe they could start a new beginning and work out things, now that he and Kikyo are over maybe he could love somebody

else and it would be best if it will be his queen.

"Jaken?"

"Yes your majesty"

"Please call the queen I need to talk to her"

Jaken bowed and went out to do his task

 

A few minutes later Kagome entered InuYasha's room and saw him reading some scrolls.

"You called me InuYasha? "

"InuYasha, how I love the way you say my name" InuYasha teased

"Perhaps I should say this everyday"

"Maybe"

InuYasha stood up and ushered Kagome to sit. When she was settled he went to her and licked her mate mark.

Kagome felt heat run through her body.

"Arousal?"

"When you always do that, I will always be aroused your highness" Kagome giggled

"Your laughs made my day cheerful mate"

"Tsk...Tsk.. if we keep on doing this then we will not be able to finish our work"

"Humph! you ruined the moment"

"Please let's start with business"

"Alright.." InuYasha replied as he took his sit

"So why did you call me anyway?"

"I want you to accompany me in one of our towns so that I can check on what is happening"

"Why should I, it is not in my line"

"Well now it is in your line since I'm your mate and we should do things together"

"Fine, when will this be?"

"Perhaps tomorrow"

"Sure I will gladly accompany you" Kagome replied with sarcasm

"Sarcasm? I didn't know you are these playful mate"

"Well things do change"

InuYasha laughed as he went unto Kagome and kissed her softly on the lips. She opened a bit and he shoved

his tongue and instantly they were drowned into passion. The kiss was getting good when

"Your majesty, minister Myouga wants to talk to you"

InuYasha growled and Kagome giggled "Fine let him in"

He winked at Kagome as he ushered her to come near him

Myouga entered with a solemn look

"What makes you look like that minister?" Kagome asked

"My queen your father is outside wanting to see you"

InuYasha felt Kagome shiver

'What's with her father visiting her?' InuYasha thought
