Dream Wish
*Ryo*
Saturday is perfect. Kagome and I have been close for a long time. We’re even dating now. So why not go further? From that thought, I began my planning. First up, the call. I dialed her at home after school.
“Hello?” she asked.
“Kagome!” I cheered. “How are you?”
“Good,” she replied. “How are you?”
“Good,” I said. “Say, what are you doing tomorrow afternoon?”
“Nothing,” my lady said. “Why?” I grinned to myself.
“Come over and see,” I said.
“You sure?” she asked.
“Oh yes,” I said. “You’re gonna love it!”
“Is that right?”
“Yep.”
“Alright. I’ll be over tomorrow.”
“Thanks, baby.”
“Bye.”
“Bye-bye.” I hung up, grinning. Step one complete. Now to prepare for part two. I found Dad in his office, working. I knocked on the door.
“Come in!” he called.
“Excuse me,” I said as I walked in.
“Yes, son?” Dad asked. I slid the door closed behind me.
“You doing anything Saturday?” I asked.
“Like what?” he asked. I snickered under my breath.
“Like going out with Michiko,” I offered. He whipped around to me, red-faced.
“What?!?” he yelped. I gave him a small shrug.
“Why not?” I asked. “You still like her, right?”
“Well…” Dad said as he struggled mentally.
“Right?” I asked. He nodded, still red-faced. I smirked.
“So, ask her out on Saturday,” I said. Dad gave me a strange look.
“Wait a minute,” he said. “Why?” I gave him a cheesy little smile.
“Well…” I said. He raised an eyebrow at me.
“What are you up to?” Dad asked.
“Nothing, nothing,” I lied. “Kagome and I want you to be happy.” He blinked at me.
“You and Kagome?” Dad asked.
“That’s right,” I said with a nod. Dad pondered this for a moment. He glanced up at me.
“A date with Michiko, huh?” he said.
“That’s right,” I said.
“Alright,” Dad replied. I suppressed my excitement to the best of my ability.
“I thank you,” I said with a bow. I turned and left. Score! Got step two out. I just had to wait for Saturday to come along. I had all of the elements all worked out.
Then, it came unraveled.
Saturday Morning.
Kagome called me with bad news.
“Hello?” I answered on my cell phone.
“Ryo-kun?” that sweet voice asked on the other line. I sat up straight in bed.
“Baby?” I asked. “What’s the matter?”
“A neighbor came over and asked me to baby-sit her daughter,” she said. The glow started to die from my face.
“What?” I asked.
“I’m sorry,” she said. I shook my head.
“No, no,” I lied. “It’s all good.”
“See you next Saturday?” Kagome asked.
“Yeah,” I said, nodding.
“Okay, bye,” she said.
“Bye,” I replied. We hung up together. I fell back, groaning. All of this planning for nothing. Damn it!
Nice Try, Boy!
