My Definition of Love

What is love?
Is it the symbol of peace?  The angelic white dove?
 
What is love?
Is it a gift given freely from Heaven above?
 
My theory of love comes out quite differently
To me, love is vulnerability
 
 
To give of yourself with nothing in return
To hut now on earth to avoid Hell's deep burn
“What is love?” to me, is the most interesting question since “What is life?”
To love a man deeply?  To become his wife?
 
 
To me, love is vulnerability
I know this for a fact
I tried to give love
Where's my pat on the back
If love means forgiving, I'll never know why
I lost a dear person to a grudge unjustified
 
 
People take advantage of you, hurt you and cheat?
Why?  It makes no sense for a heartless feat
to hurt a good person; a person who would
love you every day—even if you're no good
