To show you my love in simple terms
It wouldn't seem appropriate, as far as I'm concerned
For a woman like you, nothing is too good
I felt the need to show my love whenever I could
Sometimes, I feel I'm not worthy of you love
So the perfect token of affection is what I'm in search of
Beyond basis cliché and commerciality
You heart is what I was hoping to please
Racking my mind until I could imagine no more
I decided to go to the grocery store
I had enough money to buy anything there
A box of chocolates, a card and even a bear
But, being the type of woman you are
(and how “average” all the gifts were)
I started to wonder if they were enough
(and something you might just prefer)
I almost gave up, then, I was the perfect gift
accompanied with a single rose that helped to explain it
A single rose in a wine glass and the card simple stated
how oft we underestimate how much we're appreciated
that love is eternal and abundant, ounce for ounce
Enough to keep the phrase true “It's the thought that counts”
With only one rose and not a bouquet
it said plain and simply how I love you, today
And that love's everlasting—I'm so glad me you chose
And my love will outlive that symbolic rose
