Wonderful update, as always. I loved that Tsuneo made Aki apologize to Kagome, and the fact that he was actually afraid of Kagome was funny. Clearly Haname has spewed all kinds of nonsense about her being a witch able to warp the villagers' minds, or something to that effect, anyway. Any woman who consorts with youkai must therefore be just as wicket, right? I liked that Tsuneo seemed to be assessing her, having never actually met her before; perhaps he'll form his own separate opinion and will turn out to not be such a bad man, after all. That line about not wanting Aki to turn out like his father was a good one. And Aki's surprise as Daitaro complemented his apology was a nice touch, too. Maybe it's not too late, and Aki will gradually start to realize that his father and grandmother were speaking lies, fears born from their predisposed hatred. Good job! Really looking forward to seeing what happens next. :-)

Just to let you know, you have more than one grateful reader over here too. I love this story so much. It is simply wonderful to read what Kagome and InuYasha's life might have been like when she returned. I look forward to each and every update. Are you still active on LJ? I've lost the comm you used to mod/post to over there.

Lovely update, as always. I can understand Inuyasha's impatience, since he could so easily just go hunt the bakeneko down and be done with it, but I can also understand where Miroku is coming from in that, supposedly as the one in charge - the monk and his youkai helper - he has to put on a good show with all the monkly business. Even if they don't pay they'll talk, he's right, and others will hear of he and Inuyasha and they'll get more work. If Inuyasha just went in there guns blazing, so to speak, they might fear him even if he is on their side and kills the bakeneko, so letting Miroku be all priestly and bless all the houses is definitely the best way to go about it, putting all their minds at ease. As for Kagome's scene, I love how you pointed out how she and Inuyasha used to fight all the time in the beginning, because surely all of the villagers remember that, and how you explained that they were younger then, and Kagome herself has pretty much concluded that they have just grown up since then. This is not a divergence story that takes place early mission where Kagome was sitting him all the time and he was cussing and insulting her. This is almost four years later and after everything they've seen and done, they have both grown a lot in that time period. Kagome's not a little kid any more, and neither is Inuyasha. They are two mature, married adults, and they should act accordingly. Bravo! Can't wait to see what happens next. :-)

Good update! I liked the beginning, and Kagome meeting Hisako. That was a cute scene. With Haname and the others...is she serious?! LOL. The men want to punish Aki because he was bad and so now all of a sudden Kagome has cast a spell on them all? LOL. I think I've known a few people like her and Joben in real life - whenever even the tiniest thing doesn't go their way then suddenly the whole world is evil and against them. But I'm worried that Joben said he's going to involve Morio. Saying a prayer is all fine and good, since there's really no spell to remove, but that reminds me of so many scenes in various fics where somebody thinks Kagome is possessed for consorting with Inuyasha and slaps a sutra on her, trying to break the spell, and instead of realizing there is no spell when the sutra has no effect they instead think Inuyasha's dark magic is merely stronger than they feared. I hope no harm comes to Kagome or Inuyasha because of that yamabushi wanna be, if he actually has any real power that could be a threat to Inu, or little Shippou for that matter. He can throw is 'evil begone!' spells at Kagome all day if he wants 'cause she's not evil so therefore the magic shouldn't harm her in the slightest, but will he realize that's what his magic's ineffectiveness means? Probably not. Moving on, I also loved the little glimpse of Kagemura village, and how Miroku tactfully tiptoed around calling the yamabushi a ripoff. I also like that they had heard of the Inu no Taisho and where impressed to learn that Inuyasha was of that bloodline, though I'm confused why Miroku said it that way instead of just saying he's his son, unless he wanted to keep it secret that he's hanyou, and so instead they think he's just a less powerful full inu-youkai of that blood line from a few generations down. That would make sense, since having animal features isn't strictly a giveaway of being hanyou because lesser pure youkai have animal features too. Since they don't have reiki and can't sense how strong Inuyasha's youki is, it would be logical for them to assume he's pure-blooded but lesser than daiyoukai status. Hanyou are so rare that I don't imagine that would automatically be where anybody's minds would go. So good job, then; I answered my own question, LOL. But good job for thinking of something I hadn't even thought of! The Inu no Taisho was the stuff of legends, everybody's heard of him, so admitting that Inuyasha's of that bloodline elevates his status in the villagers' eyes. Nice touch. Can't wait to see what happens next with everything!

Bum Bum Bum...LOL. I must say, I am starting to respect Tsuneo a teeny bit more; seems clear to me he's not really the worst in that family but his wife is, and she's the one who's poisoned the minds of their children. Sure, Tsuneo might actually feel negatively towards Inuyasha and Kagome too, but at least it seems to me that he'd keep his mouth shut about it outside of quiet grumblings to himself, and when push comes to shove he's just proven that he is perfectly capable of thinking of the good of the village before his own individual or family pride. Aki misbehaved and therefore he needs to be punished, end of story. And I can't help but notice that you've just sent everybody to Tameo's house. There will surely be fireworks if Haname goes with and meets up with Kagome, who's presently 'parading' around in miko robes. Bum Bum BUM! Back with Inuyasha and Miroku, poor Inuyasha...always the inugami, indeed. But better that they think Miroku has tamed him than to think the monk a wicked man for consorting with youkai. At the end of the day at least they aren't shouting at him calling him names and throwing stones, they are wary of him like he's Miroku's trained attack dog, but they understand and accept that he is a necessary tool of the houshi's. Poor Inu... But it's an accurate depiction so good job!

I'm glad Kagome didn't run after Kaede and Haname, and that she also told Shippou not to go tell Inuyasha. No sense in angering him early, and he and Miroku do need to concentrate on fighting that bakeneko. Can't wait to see what happens when Kaede and Haname reach the others, and if she'll actually believe Aki when he (reluctantly) confesses as to why they've really been doing the pranks they've been doing. Keep up the good work! :-)

Bum Bum Bum... Boy this is turning into a soap opera for sure! LOL. Lots and lots of lovely drama and people being bitches. It looked, though, like Tsuneo was at least trying to listen to what happened and accept the fact that Aki acted out, with Joben being the most disrespectful and his father even having to tell him to shut up in so many words. I liked that. Of course, you did state that Tsuneo wasn't revealing his own thoughts on the matter, so he probably had similar thoughts but just knew not to voice them out loud. It does sound, though, like Haname calls most of the shots, so this ought to be interesting. I hope Isao isn't too badly hurt; maybe when he wakes up he'll confess how the whole thing had been Aki's idea, LOL. And thanks for breaking down that list of who's who, except now I'm confused about one thing I hadn't caught onto before... From your list, it looks like Shinjiro and Erime are related. That isn't right...is it? Did you mean to say Takeshi is Toshiro's nephew? Because if Takeshi is Tameo's nephew then Tameo is Erime's great-uncle, and Shinjiro is Tameo's second cousin. And I'm my own grandpa, LOL. Well whatever, it's the 1500s! ;-)

Wonderful update, as always. LOL, Miroku finding stupid merchants to be a handy thing just made me smile. I absolutely love the way you had him say that. It was so...Miroku-ish, hahaha. Inuyasha having a bad feeling isn't good, though I'm not too worried. Bum Bum Bum...pissed off Haname at 3 o'clock, LOL. Okay I don't really know where they were sitting in relation to the front door, but still. Looking forward to your next update, as always! :-)

Really love this latest chapter! First, wise ol' Kaede and her words of wisdom. "Sometimes it’s better to not look at how long the journey is but where your feet need to step right now." That's such a Kaede thing to say, LOL, and very, very true. And I totally feel sorry for Setsuko, that her grandmother will be mad at her for Aki getting into trouble. Sounds like Isao is the bigger of the two trouble makers, or at least they are blaming it all on Isao, like Aki is really innocent and just under a bad influence, but I'm not so sure with the way he was mouthing off and spat at Daitaro like that. I also liked the scene of Kinjiro first spotting the cow out front Inu and Kag's house, and the way he was talking to her like a wayward child, as you put it, LOL, I could totally just see that. That's probably something I would do. Definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next. :-)

I love it when you toss in your version of traditional Japanese folk songs, LOL. Now that MM's up and running again I'm going to stop giving myself previews over on FF and wait here patiently for the next update, now that we're fully caught up and I don't know what's about to happen next. Well okay I kind of know, LOL, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it! :-)

Already reviewed this over on FF, but I'll review you here too 'cause I'm practically the only one who does, LOL. If I've got to single-handedly make sure your review count doesn't suffer over here then by golly that's what I'll do! LOL, so yay! Awesome update! :-)

Woo-hoo! Super smexy update, good job! I liked that for once the scene didn't fade, though it was still done in your tasteful, signature style. And what's with Inuyasha having a nightmare about losing Kagome? Foreboding, much? Of course, we all know he's not going to be losing Kagome any time in the near or distant future, but one must appreciate the irony of monsters afraid of monsters. Good job!
